Recommendation for the kitchen shelves, from someone who has a lot of open shelving at home: if you are going to put up dishes on them, only display things you use very often/every day (so they will be always freshly cleaned), things you use once a year (because you will have to rewash it first), or things in closed containers. Especially in the sunshine they get dusty VERY fast, and in the kitchen things collect grease overtime, so it ends up sticky-dusty if it hasn't been touched in a bit 😬so open dishes that you use will have to be re-cleaned a lot. That's why I keep most of my dishes in closed windowed cabinets (like the ones in your bistro area). On the open shelves I have a tea bar with all loose-leaf teas in opaque canisters, and also snacks and nuts and cereals in containers. Dry foods and baking ingredients in glass containers can be very cute to display as long as they have no problem staying in the sun. And remember to dust regularly! I'm super lazy and covered the cat-damaged arms on my cosy armchair with spare stretch velvet ! It looks really snazzy and cats don't scratch velvet, they don't like how it feels. Highly recommend

Mold is not safe for you to be breathing in. It can cause you to become sick and possibly trigger other health issues. I recommend getting your landlord to hire a mold specialist to inspect the garage* & possibly the whole house. Mold is something that cannot just be wiped off it’s spreads to area that you can’t see.🌼 Stay cozy, stay healthy 🌼
I have HEPA filter purifiers in the garage and all over the house in the meantime but will def look into a specialist!
100000% agree! Mold can be very dangerous, even if it’s not toxic black mold. Spores spread like crazy even to areas that aren’t directly touching the original plot of mold. They get in the air and travel all around and grow wherever they can thrive. I’m living proof-mold has made me very sick. It can trigger autoimmune diseases and everything. It’s not just about an UnCoMfY little cough or something.

I love the lego storage solution! i recommend cutting the image of the lego from the box and putting it in the smaller from pocket so you can see more easily what each one is! the craft room is coming together! also those markers all in colour order in the organizer is so satisfying!

Girrrl watching you put your craft supplies back in the garage, the coloring books by the door in that moldy area …I’d get those outta there! Saying this with love so you don’t waste your supplies. Allow the landlord to hire a professional asap, I’ve been down that road before.❤
Vinegar does not kill mold completely. You likely just cleaned the visible mold off the surface (side note: never try to remove mold from your home by yourself, mold spores will spread and get into the air and attach to other objects/areas).
Mold is a living organism and gets into ALL porous surfaces in the area. Mold is most often not visible, if it’s visible it’s just an indicator of a serious mold problem. This is something that needs to be handled by your landlord and a professional mold remediation team. Sitting in that craft room and crafting for hours could have serious health implications. This coming from someone who has become disabled from mold illness. Stay safe, mold is a serious health hazard!! ❤

This. Super worried for your health as someone who lives in an apartment that occasionally has a flooded room .
we had flooding from a plumbing problem and it wasn’t even standing water, we cleaned it immediately and we still had water damage get into sections of the drywall, please call a professional water mitigation company, they will come and do a free estimate or if you rent, have your landlord do this. You will have increasing problems with mold and once that happens insurance doesn’t want to offer coverage. Definitely don’t listen to people on the internet with this vinegar nonsense, call a professional
My mom taught me a great tip for caulking big spaces like that! You can buy that canned spray foam insulation, fill in the gap, allow it to set, cut off the “extra” and caulk over that! That way, instead of wasting your caulk filling empty space, you have some framework to build off of☺️

My basement flooded last summer (with SEWAGE) and it was also my craft space. We've remodeled it and everything- EVERYTHING- is now stored in plastic containers with airtight lids plus elevated off the ground. Good luck!!!

Make sure you get a dehumidifier when it floods. We had a water leak and a dehumidifier helped remove moisture and kept the carpets from getting musty.

To clean mold off of salvageable items use Concrobium! Its non toxic and works super well!
Love the little updates idea, we have a bistro set in the backyard lanai area and i love it. I also want to add a swing but dang they be expensive. For the kitchen shelves I wouldn’t do tea, they shouldn’t be exposed to too much light. I would definitely go for functional , the plates would look really nice. Perhaps pinterest might have ideas. Thank you for sharing! Also, you are so strong for persevering with the craft room, I would have probably given in to despair. 😅

baby architect here, my unsolicited advice for your craft room is that you tile the bottom 1/4 - 1/2 of your walls, and then seal the bottom. If you only caulk it then the drywall will still get wet and cause mold, especially if its not drywall meant for wet areas, and even those, I doubt would survive too long if they got direct water as those are meant to be under a material (like tile). The caulking at the bottom you will probably have to touch up every once in a while to maintain that seal. If any more senior architects also watch and have better ideas comment! I'm down to learn for my own sake
Edit: I would also consider cutting the bottom half of the drywall and replacing it because there may still be mold in there.

Also, on the Lego instruction storage supporter side...those of us who completed a set of something but didn't seal or glue it together and then moved and then the whole thing came apart in pieces but you didn't keep the instructions and you don't know where everything goes and you would have to start all over anyways....very smart!

It’s so bizarre to me that people would question the utility of the Lego storage bags. I use those bags for EVERYTHING in my house - puzzles, board games, fine motor activities for my kids, craft supplies, organizing stuff in my car. They’re more useful than even plastic storage bins or canvas cubes - neither of which people ever question the utility of. I hate comments sections sometimes. The negativity makes me crazy.

I realize I’m late here but I also didn’t care about my cats destroying my couch until they got down to the wood and it looked really bad lol I got cat scratching pads (kinda like cat tree material) in the same color as my couch from Amazon and wrapped them around the corners and nailed them in place and it looks SO GOOD!! My couch is big so no cover would’ve fit, so v v happy. In case you ever decide you want to cover their crimes 😂❤

I don’t know if you’ve tried any at all, but there are some good cat scratching deterrents that keep them from scratching at furniture, Bitter Apple and Nature Miracle are two that I use that have worked for my fur babies !!
