Meanwhile the School System continues to be in shambles.
If only places would be walkable so kids don’t need a bus to get to school 😮
No offense but I don't think the electric buses would help the gas engine is so much more reliable
But some school districts in Northern California don’t even provide home-to-school transportation service.
Most rural districts can’t dream to afford them even with subsidies. Good luck with those deadlines for new buses.
I wonder if tax payers will get a cut in their school tax bill because it will now be less money to run the electric buses
Anything left will go to Ukraine
Yeah, right!
Yeah sure it will be especially when the batteries died
Those buses will become an Endless Money Pit.
Our district has around 50 electric school buses and more than half are broken down. Just setting collecting dust while the diesel and cng buses are running routes just fine.
Any captive fleet like school buses that runs routes during the day with frequent stops and parks at night are great use cases for electrification. USPS too. Great to see this report. Thx for the vid.
I am glad Montgomery County added BRAND NEW buses🚌🚎🎮
Am a kid in high school who takes the bus and if we didn’t have the sound that comes from the old buses how am I suppose to know if the bus is right around the corner or not
You look at your surroundings
honestly just sitting in the bus hearing the old cat purr is like a lullabye to me, everyday after school
I'm trying to imagine Texas even attempting this, but... we gotta fix the grid first.
rAIsE yOUr haND iF yoU loVe sChoOl busEs! HahAHaHA!
I do. In the coming years, each school district and school bus company will have an entire fleet of electric buses.
@@davidkaiser1004 few things make more sense than electric bus fleets.
And soon school will be so expensive they won't be going at all. And it's not green, we need to mine, your not fooling anyone.
Just like they mine your phone, computers and a lot of other things.
What will they do with the old busses? Will they just dump them and make more trash? Or turn them into something that is functional?
Like tiny homes made from busses or make a kind of library bus or traveling supplies for people who need food and essential.
What have they been doing with buses for years?
@@seanthe100 I do not know. It's been years since I've been in a yellow school bus.
@@jkseraphim4 I believe they just end up in junk yards like most old cars.
There sent places like in Latin America or go to the scrap yard, or turned into skoolies ( bus homes), churches will buy them for own uses.
I recommend checking out skoolies, and Latin America buses there absolutely cool.
USA school buses only run usually 10 yrs in the USA then retire.
most utility vehicles last around 10 years, so every year 10% of ICE utility vehicle can be replaced in theory, which is nowhere the current production of electric utility vehicles anyway.
Why do we need so many buses in the first place? That is the bigger issue/question we should be asking ourselves.
If we hadn't created such a car-centric, sprawling, unwalkable, unbikeable, bad built butch body country this wouldn't be an issue.
haha i remember like in middle school which was 2010, talking with my late afterschool driver about different busses they had over the years and how he could never picture himself drive a electric bus if they come out eventually, more so if ya gotta drive in the middle of nowhere routes how u gonna charge that thing...
well they got electric ones now so...
Great Step
Hope the storms don't take out the electric or kids wont get to school. I guess kids will pry for bad weather LOL
If the grid went out the school won't have lights so why would they be open?
School busses don't run every day .
That black exhaust though 🔎
I know. Very unhealthy for kids even during am/pm commutes. When more electric buses hit the streets of school districts, there will be a decrease in absences even during flu season.
reasonable
And then one catches fire from a defective battery at night.. The rest burns with it.. Y'all better have some good fire suppression getting all these EVs.
Plus, what about the battery replacement every 5 years? Electric car batteries are $5K, these bus batteries are more expensive and a higher capacity, It’s going to cost an arm and a leg to replace every battery in a fleet of 40 or so.
@@smorris281 a junk Chevy Volt battery costs like 27K.
@@smorris281 No idea where you are getting your info from but Tesla's for example has an 8 year warranty.
They are purchasing large quantities of buses that have never been really tested. Also when those batteries all go bad much at the same time and need replacing, they will be crying like babies. To replace the batteries can cost up to 35,000 Dollars or more per bus.
Looks like you're the one doing the crying now lol
Cheese buses
None of it will grow back either…
that's good but the schools will still ask for money money that they no longer need
Those buses will become a Huge Money Pit on their own.
@@rw0050 let them buses take them fore every damn dime
Government is giving Grants for this.
@@PyroShields lol i hope they have the power for all them charge stations
@@castlev1986 Combination with renewable energy.
bro it improves your grades Asians. Take the money aigh
Seriously....... oh great......power goes out during storms kids are stuck on the bus.......ambulances and fire engines, cop cars will be next......
I was thinking the same thing. This just gives the powers that be more control.
Wrong. Power goes out and the School bus provides power back to the school. You might want to do some homework here.
@@theepichamster1443 uh......when the power goes out in California we can't charge our EV......duh.....DO YOUR HOMEWORK.......even better holding children in the school.......seriously...WOW
@@elizabethgrassi9444 Duh, wouldn’t the battery be FULL before the power goes out? The school bus is now a POWER SOURCE. Sounds like you may need some more schooling.
@@theepichamster1443 I love when EV haters are put in their place lol.
Electric cars are worse for the environment than gas cars. Plus we don’t have the minerals needed to do electric on a mass scale.
This is so incorrect, you need schooling.
@@PyroShields except I’m right. What do you think powers the generators that power electric charging stations? Coal! EV’s are cool but you’re not saving the planet by driving one. Not to mention the slave labor needed to produce the batteries.
@@ApeLikeThinker Do you have any scientific proof that Electric cars are bad for the environment? Or are you just hoping because you don't like them.
@@PyroShields yes. Because the factories that produce them and the generators that power them are fueled with coal.
@@ApeLikeThinker Well aren't gas cars produced in factories as well?
Television is called programming for a reason so enjoy your mass psychosis.
And how does this prevent our kids from being shot by other students?
Brilliant point.
US being US
Hope none ever get stuck in the cold and snow, have a bus full of frozen kids
You can cancel in class schooling. Because of Covid, classes can still be held online
too bad they kept the look and not modernized the look. Bravo though. i bet there are still people who would say use th e $ for other things. i would vote for this though.
You pay for it.
gotta keep that traditional look
It shows the lack of education in America today...If you listed what resources make up a battery, where it comes from and how its extracted from the ground then these people would feel very different....THEY REFUSE TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES
We know where batteries come from boomer. What about the oil spills in Alaska and Gulf Mexico hmmm? You like seeing the Polar Bears go extinct while Antarctica is melting?
You enjoyed all those brown people getting blown to bits in Iraq and Afghanistan for your precious oil?
Shut the f**k up
Batteries are not exactly clean, but certainly better than the process of procuring oil and then refining it to diesel and gasoline.
@@thatshowtoroll what would be even better is them kids walking or biking to school to boost productivity and sustainability
@@thatshowtoroll you haven't done much research if you believe that
Oil extraction and refining is extremely polluting. Gas car are unefficient compare to an electric car so you are wasting most of your gas to heat the air instead of propulsing your car. Electric car are not perfect but a least there is alot of improvement to be made compare to gas car. Don't know why you refuse to educate yourself.
Let me guess manufactured in China
Wrong! Canada and here in the USA.
