  • The girl groups and boy bands of the 90’s and early 2000’s hold a particularly special place in the hearts of fans that grew up in those eras. Some came together organically and some were manufactured by industry professionals. Some never made it on the charts at all and some rose all the way to number 1...or number 2 in this case. Dream was one of the lucky ones. The quartet achieved immediate success from the moment their debut single dropped but, they weren’t able to surpass or even maintain that achievement and quickly faded into obscurity. Let’s find out whatever happened to pop girl group Dream.

    This was a Diddy special. He signs these acts and then shelves them. Never to release much music, then disappear back to normal life. I remember them on TRL all optimistic, and I thought they don't know what's coming. Mase and Big are the only 2 artist to prosper there

      @greatgownsbeautifulgowns Před 3 lety +37

      I would say Big and Lil Kim are the only two artists to prosper with him because he screwed Mase over too.
      Sometime last year when Diddy was on social media, Mase jumped in the comments and aired him out and basically said how he promised he could buy back his masters for one price--but then when Mase got the money together Diddy raised the price. He also said how Diddy didn't pay him what he owed him.

    Dream was and still is one of my favorite groups hands down!! I hate that they had to succumb to the Bad Boy Curse. Ugh! If they had lasted just a little bit longer, then we might not have gotten Danity Kane; or if we did, it would be some stiff competition because Dream was lit with their music.And Reality was such an underrated album and so were their unreleased songs.

      The music producer gave them an ultimatum, if they sign right away without their attorney present, they get the gig. If not, they're out of the group. As 15 yr old members, they folded and signed.

    Their gruesome experience before debuting sounds a lot like the kpop industry to me. Kpop really is just a more refined, more advanced version of the 90s/2000s girl groups and boy bands era.

    Let's be real , Diddy was trying to reinvent New Kids on The Block except with girls, this was attempted before with late 80's group Good 2 Go ,except those white girls actually had pipes. And don't forget Boy Krazy or Wild Orchid(Fergie's pre Black eyed peas group)

  • @urkelsaloneurkelbeatz5287

    I still believe they should've join Ruff Ryders because DMX would've been the big brother and father figure to protect them and Eve would've been the big sister because she's was and still is the pitbull under the skirt and signed to LaFace Records

  • @rogueish28
    @rogueish28 Před 3 lety +3

    The fact that they wouldn't let one of the girls lawyers look at the contract before signing should've been a huge red flag to the other girls....Diddy is known for destroying careers, and the fact that MTV decided to have another Making the Band season with him just makes me feel sorry for the guys/girls who are going to audition and have no idea how bad it's going to be for those who get chosen career wise.... I hope they all get their own lawyers to read the contract before they sign.... Otherwise Diddy is going to get all the money like he always does....
