Shahrukh played the role of a loser in this movie. A loser who is neither the brightest student, nor a handsome hunk, nor a success in any other field. He resorts to lying to get the girl he wants, and yet fails. He fools his parents by forging a fake marksheet. He is full of flaws.
Despite all his flaws, his character had a heart of gold. Even after successfully forging a marksheet, he feels guilty of fooling his loved ones, and comes clean, in front of the entire party. One of the most emotional songs : Woh to hai albela.
Despite the girl agreeing to marry him, he sacrifices his love because he knows he is only a friend, and her true love is someone else.
And despite looking completely worthless, he has one talent - his music. When he plays his music, he pours his heart out.
Shahrukh played the role of this vulnerable, flawed loser with such charm, that everyone rooted for him. We all could relate to his character Sunil, and that is why we all smiled whenever he succeeded in his shenanigans, and cried with him whenever he had a heartbreak.
We all forgot it is Shahrukh. We all identified with the character Sunil, because we felt it was us.
His character gave us hope you could be written down by the world, but still you could live the life and embrace all its joys and heartbreaks.

My mother in her college days got a proposal from a boy who gifted the cassette of "Kabhi haan kabhi naa" to her. Such hits of 90's are unforgettable she says. I watched this movie too, it was actually a realistic movie! Shahrukh Khan's role was quite different here! such cuteness.

We used to have a VCR cassette of hindi songs in 95-96. I heard this song there. And again now in 2020. Years have passed. I wish I could get those innocent days back

My Goa ❤️ The first 2 minutes are shot in Panaji . The ferrys still exist , (now river Mandovi is cluttered with casinos) the ladder scene , the church is in fontainhas mala, SRK did the same scene in Josh movie (apun bola song) at same location, both the times I was present with my father to see the shoot. Later half is shot in Colva & ends at Palolem 😄 Man I miss the old days . This movie is pure emotional joyride, Best summaries the Goan way of life.

I watch and listen most of times since ages. it was my favourite since the movie was released way back in 1994/95. Excellent Excellent Excellent music by Jatin Lalit.
Kundan Shah was probably one of the most underrated and unrecognized directors of Bollywood. He made some priceless gems such as "Jaane Bhi do yaaro" and this movie. This movie is a timeless treasure. Those were the days when SRK did some really realistic acting, not the over-the-top superhero stuff he does these days.

All songs are no nonsense and absolutely complementary and added value to the pecular situation in each part of this movie. It's really pitty to see the premature exit of such a cute, decent and natural actress Suchitra Krishnamurthy. I really love this movie and it always bring me back to my childhood days. I want to live my past again with my family, relatives and my loved ones and ready to sacrifice the today's techno- savvy era.
