I am so happy for Sarah Jarosz, getting the opportunity to play with David Crosby, one of the original's from the 60's, which I am sure you know. I love Sarah Jarosz about as much as I do the 60's originators of GREAT MUSIC !! If for some reason you have not yet listened to her,,,, there is no time but the present. I am also so happy for David Crosby that he is still out there embellishing beautiful tunes for all to hear. I worked at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation hospital in Summit New Jersey in the 70's, and David Crosby stayed there to get clean.... which he did for about 3 months, then he headed back into the darkness that the drugs he was taking brings to you. Thank God he is clean now! I saw an interview with David and Howard Stern, great recent interview. I imagine you can here it here on CZcams.

This is the type of harmony singing that Crosby used to do with Nash. The rhythms are very specific and a bit idiosyncratic (listen to the way they sing "children let out"). It's HARD for two people to sing together that way -- hard to keep together on unexpected 16ths and 32nds that show up in the phrasing. Croz and Nash were really good at it, and now Croz and Sarah are really good at it. BRAVO. I hope we get to hear this live sometime.

I am listening to this album for the first time....so here is my unbiased review of this piece of work and more. I am listening to it on PSB towers, and Phillip's Electronics....the engineering is just exceptional....its like a MOFO recording from the master. Superbly accurate, it's like your sitting in the studio with them. There are so many different layers here, its just beautifully crafted. The musicianship is stellar. This album showcases one fact that cannot be denied, David Crosby has a gorgeous voice, and easy on the ears. This is a very sophisticated album with many different styles and grooves. Jazz, funk, pop, it's all here. If you close your eyes and listen to this masterpiece your get it factor will certainly click in....at 80 he just blew away his former contemporaries and this album is certainly a statement to his fans and past associations. I really respect him as he is brave enough to bark out loud then walk away and move on. While Covid has decimated the social spirit, this guy goes to work and produces a body of work like this? David Crosby doesn't look back, he moved on and this album is certainly award winning material. Just exceptional! Get this album, its the best musical contribution in so many years from the village out there. 10 out 10.

Btw ... Please listen to the incredible Croz (2014) and Sky Trails albums (2017) by David Crosby. They are as good as his early masterpiece Remember My Name from 1970, and that says a lot. His collaborations with other young singers (like with Sara here), writers, and musicians, his master song-writing, and his still intact haunting powerful voice and singing of a man about to turn 80 has been so inspiring these last few years. I'll always applaud the survivor, especially those who've kept their inner child intact but, for me, The Byrds years are the only ones with meaning. They showcased the greatest high harmony voice I've ever heard give emotion to the lyrics of two of the greatest songwriters in the history of American music, Dylan and Gene Clark, as well as the lead vocal turns he took on those first five albums. For all of that, David Crosby is one of my rock and roll idols. I know I'll shed tears at his passing.

I slept last night in a good hotel
I went shopping today for jewels
The wind rushed a-round this dirty town
And the children let out from their schools
I was standing on a noisy corner
    Waiting for the walking green
    Across the street he stood
    And he played real good
    On his clar-i-net for free
    -
Now me I play for fortunes
    And these velvet curtain calls
    I've got a black limousine
    And the finest ladies
    Escorting me to these halls
Now I'll play if you have some money
Or if you're a friend to me
    But that one man band
    By the quick lunch stand
He was just playing real good for free
Now nobody, nobody stopped to hear him
Though he played so sweet and so high
    They knew he'd never
    Been on their T.V. screen
So they passed his music by
I meant to go over and ask for a song
    Maybe put on a harmony
    I can still his refrain
    As the signal changed
He was just playing real good for free
    Joni added...
    Playing like a fallen angel
    Playing like a rising star
Playing for a hat full of nothing
To the honking of the cars

I tend to get a lump in my throat and/or a feeling of quiet joy when listening to true artistry, and the performances of these two is no exception.

Wow, I’m stunned a legend who still has his amazing moving voice, has he still got his voice he’ll yes he still has it, just amazing, I am really honestly stunned no singers like him today it’s beautiful it’s perfect harmonies the melody is sublime he is the definition of a legend and I’m not one for American singers I’m more a Nash fan but this is perfection only American singers Iv always adored and will always listen to over and over is Bread, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow & The Eagles, well David Crosby is right up there with Bread and Eagles easy

David still has such a clear beautiful voice. Out of all those guys he used to play with he is the only one still making great music ,never leaning on the past. Still growing ,making great music.

@@stevebarci179 The song may be 50, but Sarah is only 30. So ...there's that. Sarah is one of the best at harmonizing. IMHO, on a par with David.

David is producing some of the best music of his life right now. Yeah it's different than what he was doing in his 20's... but aren't we all different now? Play on Mr. Crosby. You still inspire me with your amazing gift.

Wonder and beauty - thanks David for a worthy re-working of a classic country waltz! And your work Croz with younger musicians/singer/songwriters like Sarah Jarosz, Michael League etc. is leaning noble - like in the Days of Old - in a way - similar to what Bobby weir has been doing too. Have ya heard of him? He coined the term Tour Rats back in the early 80's when talking to some wayward fans - ha! Keep singing Croz - every day is a wonder to behold!!

As much as I love the Joni Mitchell originial -- and it is one of my all-time favorite songs -- this is an amazing cover, that does it's own thing, while still being true to the original. Just great. Sarah Jarosz does an amazing job sticking with Crosby's new phrasing.
