I choose the 10mm. If its powerful enough to take down Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, and Raiders then its good enough for me.
Sam Hopkins I seen it kill a Cape buffalo, good enough for me. And I too have loved it since seeing it in Fallout. My favorite round. .45 just doesn’t look that attractive anymore know that I have been enlightened.
@@9mmmadness871 well, it could also be fallout 3, or nv
Fallout for the win.
I go with the combat rifle. Who doesn’t love using 5.56 mags for a gun chambered in .45?
Better dead than red!
Everytime Hickcock45 uploads a video a bald eagle is born
on an aircraft carrier
with fireworks to celebrate!
Carl's jr
More accurately: every time hickok45 uploads a video, the descendants of the original Bald Eagle that made that screeching sound get paid.
That screeching sound that you always hear in videos of Bald Eagles is actually a Red-tailed Hawk. The actual sound that Bald Eagles make is a geeky kind of honking sound.
Ahhh, love how there is no ads in Hickock videos!
45 for the great expansion and 10mm for the penetration and energy, both amazing rounds
Winchester Ranger-T 45 (230gr) expands to 25mm on average. Underwood 45 (174Gr) expands to 32mm
Victor C yea its all great ammo there, 45 expands the most while having more of a chance of staying inside the target but still good enough penetration and not so much noise or recoil for a lot more tissue damage. 45 acp is still a special round, i like either the lower weights or the +p
The bullet caught more speed going that pitch I'm joking imm no scientist but 10ens daddy ok but the 45 acp will never let u down
10mm hollowpoints shouldn't penetrate much, I would think.
If a handgun actually looks like it has any significant recoil to it or jumps around at all while Hickok45 is shooting it, you know it must be absolutely brutal for us mere mortals!
Good point 👍
@Sven3xs Funny. Greetings from ny, where it ain't much better.
@Sven3xs Haha, thanks for confirming what many of us already suspected.
When I saw the recoil comparison with him shooting I was like "yup buying a g20"
Nah fr tho
They're both good calibers. I tend to prefer the .45 ACP because of availability of ammo. 10mm can be a little hard to find sometimes.
Having the same dilemma. Planned on getting a g20 ended up with the g21 instead. Friggin .45 ammo everywhere! . .and 9mm.
I can make my own for plinking and save cash for the carry ammo.
Plus 45 auto is cheaper to shoot
Thinking about this comment during the Corona virus B.S. 45 acp was virtually impossible to find recently. 10mm was stocked everywhere I went looking for 45.
@Marino haaaaaaaaa
Both 10mm and 45acp are great rounds. 45 gets my vote for everyday carrying, bigger initial hole and less penetration so you don't have to worry about hitting your target and the 4 people through the wall behind them. 45 ammo is also easier to come by. 10mm for a woods defense gun due to the penetration benefits, better ballistics and more rounds in a similar size mag compared to 45. Both great rounds! Thanks Hickok 👍
10mm hollowpoints shouldn't penetrate, would they??
Lmao nice observation so the ten is a lot more powerfull
@@noahpeters1873 how powerful do you want it? there will always be a round more powerful than the next..there will be a car faster than yours, it never ends
You can get toned down 10mm perfectly made for defense. Just like you can get hotter or different bullet designs for 45acp for woods carry. I love both load, but the 10mm might be more versatile.
Ten is overall a much superior round than ol' 45s and I'm glad it's no longer the black sheep it used to be. It's getting more and more popular, and for good reasons.
It can reach or even surpass the muzzle velocity of old 7.62 Tokarevs (depending on the firearm) while delivering an almost twice as heavy round.
That's a heavier punch than a 357 Mag.
The reason I brought up Tokarev is because it remains a highly popular round in Asia and was used by over 50 militaries at its peak. A great round for conceal carry that can punch through most light body armors.
Personally, the 10mm auto is the spiritual successor of 7.62 Tokarev and that's a massive compliment in my book.
When in doubt buy both.
Christian Patriot Exactly, gives you flexibility.
Your name is kufr
Pretty sure best to have options. Guess I need a 10mm now. Good call.
yes sir
That's why I bought both
I live in california. Will I get arrested if I watch this video?
Arrested and fined
Definitely on a watch list
theyre already on the way
i feel bad for you guys, have fun drinking without any straws from now on
Without question, to even contemplate any thought against your liberal masters in Sacramento is a crime.
I remember this one time at band camp... Hickok45 played Beethoven's 4th movement from his 9th symphony on steel targets using 45acp. It was so beautiful I wept with joy.
I wasn't there but I did hear how beautiful it sounded !
For real? I would like to hear that one!

@@hickok45 You've got me curious, what state do you live in? I know it can't be Illinois, they hate guns here lol, but I'm hoping to be living in Louisiana soon, they love guns and people, or Arizona. Also I was wondering if you could do a review of the Sig Sauer 2022 in a 9mm???? I got one when I traded in my glock29 10mm.
“there’s plenty of ammo out there” watching from 2020
Lol i know
2008 all over again but with masks(no mask for me)! I will say that I never thought I’d see 10mm cheaper than 9mm but in my local gun shop 10mm was a few bucks cheaper for a 50 round box of target load than 9. Welcome to the last few days of 2020. @@iceman0502me Yeah there's actually 10mm on the shelf, and cheaper most places.

When he goes hard after the steel targets, sounds like church bells to me. Very cool!
4 years later I am able to buy 10mm for around the same price as 45ACP. With the 9mm taking over the 40 S&W 10mm has started to come back. I love the 10mm. Great round to shoot and now it does not hurt the bank as much.
Yep
Facts I have bought the 29 and the 20 I love shooting them tens
@@noahpeters1873 my G29 SF Gen 3 is my go to 10mm because I shoot it the best. In fact it is in my EDC rotation. Lol as I write this it is being carried right now.

The .45 auto has been doing the job for over a hundred years. Enough said.
Great insight. I'm a .45 fella. Proven effective, easy to reload, moderate recoil and socially acceptable. Hell... I just love that a hundred+ year old cartridge is still relevant. Old fat and slow still works. Give me hope. hehe....

"you say no, I say yes" - Hickok 45
Needs to be a t shirt with this with a background image of Hickok duel welding these
Definitely! Unfortunately the left might mistake that for "rape culture" so we heave to step lightly.
Yea, wouldn't wanna make them go into a fear induced coma
@nateo200 it would have to be you say no to these but i say yes
Regular welding is hard enough, but duel welding? I have a mental image of two people fencing with welding tools like they would with rapiers, complete with welding masks.
PC is the worst correct.
I carry 45 for EDC. great Rd for stopping people if need be without to much fear of over penatrating and hitting a by stander. if I go to hiking in mountain or near the coast I'd carry 44 mag for bear protection.
I cannot even buy a gun in my country but your videos are so much interesting to watch.

I remember growing up in California watching hikock videos can’t believe it’s been 15 years it’s so sad what has happened to California
well you Californians voted the politicians in your state legislators
"what has happened to Califronia". Sorry to break it to ya, but Cali has always been the mecca of anything that goes against the second amendment. Just be thankful y'all can even still own firearms in that state period. (that might change once Biden and Harris gets in).
What happened in California?? All comment of that but I don’t know what they’re talking bout
@@sebastianbriones9597 California has the most strict gun laws in America. Many diff types of guns that are basic in most states are considered "assault weapons" in Cali. Also, pistols that hold more than 8 shots are not allowed to be carried in public, not even in your vehicle . I also believe there's a 5 day waiting period before you get the gun. You can't just walk into a gun shop and buy one like in most states.
Dominion voting systems and ele*tion fr*ud. Until California cleans that out, you can expect it to continue to get worse.
Was considering getting a 1911 in one of these calibers and after watching this video I’m leaning towards the 45acp
I just picked up a .45 1911 CS I love it, going to get a 10mm next for a back up while hunting/fishing
I've had my glock 20 for about a month, and have put about 300 rounds through. Of all varietys. And the most mild ammo I've come across, by a good bit, is the American eagle stuff. Enjoyable to shoot, easy to control, and i didn't notice much difference between mine and my buddy's G-21. I gradually stepped up a bit to some harder hitting stuff and, immediately, i felt the difference. Oh boy. Some buffalo bore through my glock was astoundingly powerful. And exactly what I was looking for. It might be more expensive to shoot with, but I couldn't be happier with my choice. I love it. Worth all the way in my book
My biggest issue with anti-gun nuts is that they have an issue with all gun owners, 99.9999% of which spend their time doing exactly this. Having innocent fun shooting watermelons, targets, etc. Most of us wouldn't dream of breaking the law with our weapons, or finding excuses to shoot people. Even if it's mainly because we don't want to lose our rights to bear arms, that should be good enough. If we're wrong for enjoying guns b/c of a few idiots, where are all anti-car and anti-beer people, every time a drunk driver kills innocent people? End of rant, keep up the great work, Mr. Hickok.
The problem is that they aren’t using logic in their argument at all. They’re giving into political emotionalism & fear mongering. Alcohol, for example, can be used both responsibly & irresponsibly, just like guns. They can get people killed, both by poisoning and by drunk driving and other actions. Yet, even though alcohol kills way more people than guns do, even localizing that just to the states, you won’t hear people screaming for alcohol prohibition. But, if the politicians & media were fueling that argument, you’d see a new movement of anti-alcohol protests, regardless of the fact that prohibition brought (and always brings) more violence and death.
Gun control isn't about guns its about people control. IMHO
Will they way things are going now.civil war is on the Horizon.all these anti-gun laws being passed and the police being out of control
ChunkyThund3r
Guess we won’t get clarification on that statement...
I was waiting for some genius..
But you see the anti-gunners drink more than we do, and even though they may want to get us off the street and out of our cars, they will be damned if they will do the same, especially if they drive a Prius which they never use the electric half of the system.
In short, one word, hypocrisy.
Your experience and vision &voice make a great information resource. There's a comanality in your understanding of just why we shoot. ITS JUST FUN .
I have the first Colt Delta Elite Government Model 1911 10mm and have never had any problems with it. Love this gun out of every gun I've owned or shot. It's the all black and red delta emblem in the center grip 8 shot also. Hands down best gun out there

I shot my first 10mm last week.
i can't believe people acually complain about it not being controllable.
i'll still take my 9mm any day, but that 10mm was not hard to control.
I agree with you 100% I rented a 10mm at the range, I thought it was very manageable! People say the same thing about tiny "mouse" guns... I think (most) of the people that rant & complain, probably never even shot the gun they're complaining about...
+fordrac1ng81
I shoot buffalo bore 180gn JHP in mine...
its controlable.
shooting a couple mags at a time makes your hand buzz a little, but its controllable.
I rocked my two-tone Colt Delta Elite 10mm in IDPA for quite a while. Controllability is ALL devolved in ammo/load selection and (most importantly) the basics of grip and gun handling. 😊
Were you shooting full power 10mm?
***** a canyon in my town where everyone shoots.
Local ranges allow full load .223 so I assume they would allow full load 10mm
I love my Glock 20, internal Lasermax guide rod laser and Trijicon red dot on top, OC custom trigger and both Lone wolf 10mm and 40 cal barrels. It's awesome to shoot really hot rounds or switch to 40 cal for personal defense in the home or for cheap range rounds. Makes one gun very universal. Camping with my son I carry hot 10mm with no worries, Definitely my favorite handgun!
My Carry Gun was a Colt 1006 back when it came out which replaced my 4546 once the department backed off of DA only. I loved it. The cadaver tests at the time convinced me of which I wanted to bet my life on.
You do such a good job demonstrating the capabilities of firearms, and add some good old-fashioned personality and wit. Love it!
I've spent more time watching ham hands Hickok on CZcams than any other tuber. I carry a .45 because it's what I'm comfortable shooting with.

Glock 21 with a Lone Wolf 10mm barrel. Best of both worlds.
Can you swap the barrel and not the whole slide? I was going to get a 45acp slide and barrel for my g20 I can’t just swap the barrels can I?
@@tempviduse I know on my G21 Lone Wolf makes the barrel and that's all I had to swap out.
You can swap the 10mm barrel into the 45 but not the 45 into the 10. The barrel hole in the 10 mm is too small for the 45 conversion. 45 is bigger then 10
Glock 40(10mm) with a KKM barrel, that’s the jam!!
G41 with a lone wolf barrel. Fires 40 too. So far🤣😁😁
Thanks for taking time to educate on these guns. I'm looking to purchase, this helps me alot on making a decision.
I personally daily carry a G29sf, which is Glock’s subcompact 10mm and absolutely love it. Definitely a dense lil thing, but still lighter than the G20.
Definitely recommend Pearce Grip mag floors with the pinky extension lips on em if you have bigger hands, but even without those, it’s totally manageable.
This great man is an American Legend! Mark my words, he will be remembered as such! We The People all love ya Hickok and your fine boy!
I like the different tones you get out of the metal plates you’re shooting.
45 is cheaper and more widely available. You can get 45acp +p with same energy as 10mm. Wider diameter bullets, like the 45, dump it’s energy quicker into a target since it has a larger surface area. Which is what you want in a pistol caliber.

10 mm has more power and punch but a .45 ACP+P will make up for the difference , as I personally wouldn't feel under gunned with a .45 ACP on any day ! If you want speed and velocity go with .9 mm +P and remember if you want to shoot the +P ammo a lot , change the slide spring and look into any other necessary options that would be required for stronger pressures !

Glocks may have a lager mag, are generally more resistant to foul-age and have a load of tactical accessory gubbins, but 1911 style guns are minor works of art. I love them so much.
I love my G20! Never had a better handgun in my life!
Loading 125grs Barnes TAC-XP for carry! Very fast, very good penetration and a lot of energy!
The double taps are so smooth & easy.
I bought a 10mm from STI (Double-stack, 15 rounds) when they first came out; in fact, I pressured Dave Skinner (owner of STI) to make a 10mm STI Edge available. (He had been selling them to police departments in the Far East ... they really like the 10mm!)
Why did I want a 10mm STI EDGE?
I got a double-stack magazine with about 17 rounds capacity, and at least the power factor of a .45ACP.
I bought it for USPSA competition, and as such I could hand-load ammunition a little bit lighter than the .45 ... closer to the .40 caliber. And realistically, the .10mm should be compared to its closer cousin the .40 Slow-and-Wimpy cartridge than the .45 ACP..
I bought the STI 10mm because I compete in USPSA (Practical Pistol) matches, and I like that the 10mm allows more cartridges in a magazine (10 round .45ACP magazines are not commonly available in double stack; 10 is the limit, while 10mm magazines allow either 17 or 18 rounds in a magazine, depending on the manufacturer and the follower).
I WOULD have bought a .40S&W, but at the time there were a lot of KaBOOM! incidents with .40S&W cartridges because the pistols did not typically have fully supported chambers; the guns were blowing up because there was very little 'extra support" in the body of the shell, near the rim; and without fully supported chambers, the KaBOOMs were predictable.
I had to pay extra for the 10mm, and the ammunition is almost prohibitively expensive .. even brass costs between 13 and 15 cents a round. But it was worth it. The 10mm has a much stronger "mass of brass" at the base than does the .40S&W/
I've retired from competition (my eyes went bad and I couldn't seen iron sights) but I keep the 10mm around for home defense. Double the magazine capacity, power equal to or better than the .45, and the speed of reloading a double-stack magazine are all major advantages with the 10mm. Plus the ergonomics of a double-stack are better for those of us who have large hands.
Oh, and the 10mm Still Kicks A&&!
People say that, as a defensive weapon, the pistol allows you time to get to your rifle, or your shotgun. With the 10mm and huge magazine capacity coupled with a fast reaload, the rifle or shotgun might actually be nothing more than an afterthought.
Your videos are great, very informative and straight to the point. I could watch you shoot all day, I know I'm not alone, if you could do a clip of nothing but you hitting your targets strung together from all your videos, that'd be so cool!
Mr. Hickok could play Christmas bells on his targets during the holidays.

I love your videos. As a former LEO I am so displeased with all the so called operators on the tube with droves of misinformed followers. You have real education here especially the part about the court. As a former cop, I cannot tell you how many justified shootings I have seen where a misinformed shooter hanged themselves in court. I would love to see you cover cartridge choice and what is less likely to cause over penetration on the street. So many have this idea that a 45ACP is bad because it doesn't penetrate hard surfaces that well. A confrontation is a body to body at a distance of a few feet of an attacker. Chuck Norris may need to shoot through windows but in court they will say why didn't you duck out of the way? Why did you shoot them through a windshield? if so why didn't you drive away? They don't care that maybe you were stuck in the mud. All a prosecutor is concerned with is why.

Hickcock45 I love your videos sir. I wanted to touch on the topic you brought up during this video about carrying a 10mm to hunt/protect from big game. You particularly mentioned the glock20 in Alaska. I concur to this.. I myself live not only in Alaska but on the island of Kodiak. the island with the biggest bears in the world. I see bears on a regular basis here at home and often encounter them while in the bush. I myself carry a glock20. As well as my battle buddy that often is with me in the bush. Carrying the glock20 makes me feel completely comfortable while in bear territory. While hunting deer I’ve jumped bears and primarily I have had encounters while fishing during the salmon runs. Last year alone we encountered a bear on nearly every fishing trip we took that year. Complete confidence with the 10mm on my chest! Keep up the good videos my fiend!
An enjoyable video, as always. I think I see the interest in 10 increasing more rapidly over the past 2-3 years, and it seems offerings from a greater number of manufacturers in a wider variety of platform options. It does enjoy the image of being a 44 Mag if only you jam enough propellant in the case, and there's a lot of "the REAL Norma load was a 230 gr bullet at 1400 fps" nonsense, but when loaded to somewhere around reasonable, it packs a punch, is easy to get accurate loads for, and bullet choices abound. Nice job Mr Hickok45
More like a .41 Mag, but I got the point
This is my first time watching this man he’s a HELL OF A SHOOTER
Hell yeah brother
You are the Man!!. Love your videos.
The glock 20 WAS popular in Alaska until the M&P 2.0 10mm came on the market.
I have both and live in Alaska. The G20 has alot of safe time now that I have the M&P 10mm.
It's a beautiful gun, comfortable to shoot and no glock knuckle.
Hickok makes the glock 20 look like a 29 in his hands.
I do know that when testing my defensive loads, I really didn't notice much difference in recoil between .45ACP in a standard 1911 and 10mm in a Glock 29.
Thanks for this most informative video.
I always enjoy Hickoks inside jokes about his memory 😜
