River Severn Winter BARBEL FISHING - RAPIDLY Rising Conditions! SCALING UP In COLOURED Water!

- The mixed conditions over this winter continue - A window of opportunity was presented to me to get on the River Severn at Shrewsbury for just under 3 hours to find a February Barbel with the river rising rapidly after torrential rain the day before.
Often scaling up on bait size/presentation can be a great approach on a river that is coloured and with a level that is rising quickly. Join me to see how I approach this session, switching to a bigger hookbait than I'd typically use to get a result out of a short notice/quick session on the Severn.
The equipment I used during this session is as follows -
Korum Barbel Rods 1.75lb TC
Shimano ST4000 Baitrunners
12lb Korum Barbel line
10lb Flourocarbon Hooklength
2oz gripper leads
Terminal Tackle - Korum Camo Bolt/Run Kit
Hook - Size 8 Korum Grappler
Hookbaits - 2 x Vortex Baits CKO 14mm Boosted Pellets, with PVA mesh bags of 6mm CKO loose pellets.

Only recently discovered your videos great stuff i am a midlander myself and used to.love fishing the severn and Warwickshire avon for barbel i have lived in Thailand for the last ten years i aee you were at Jurassic recently had few good days there myself keep up the good work 😂😂😂

Hey Rob, just bought my BAA ticket and hoping to get up to Severn Stoke before the season is over. Thanks to your videos I feel more capable of giving it a good shot. It’s new to me…..never caught a barbel, been carp fishing for the last 25 years or so and it’ll make a nice change not to have to carry so much gear about. I’ve been trying my local river , the Bristol Avon a bit this winter with no joy but it looks like there’s plenty of barbel in the Severn for a noddy like me. Well done on that 9 pounder !!!

Great video again, thanks for posting. I use my bank stick as a walking stick on that slippy bit at Eardington, saved me from a fall on more than one occasion. Must be getting old, lol.

The forecast doesn’t look great either for a week or so.. Hopefully the rain holds off and the rivers can settle down🤞👍

Don't think about the avon still . when it's fishable the banks aren't safe. Fish safely out there guys
There’s lots on the Severn similar - Dangerous time of the season if you’re not careful. That stretch I fished in the vid is convenient as the bank is a lot safer to fish from there - I like it for that reason. 🙏👍
