I was 2 back then! I was hoping I'd see my family back then, just for the laugh. Kind of envious of older folks who lived back then. People today are... Well I'm glad I'm the silent type.
Car engines are so loud & tappety. Having a camcorder back then made you middle class. Today we all have one on our phones but day to day life from this era is less well documented. I notice people look when they cross the road unlike in 2018.
A year or two after this was shot, I bought a hifi from that Bland Bros shop. When I got it home, I found it had that yellow security paint that schools used to use on the back.
The streets don't look much different in 2021!? The cars are noisier though ...but 30 years later it's all easily recognisable! The princesshay area has been redeveloped
The people are actually looking where they're walking. And even talking to each other.
Thank heaven mobile phones came along
Ah the good old days when people were actually considerate

I had been in Exeter, for one year on 1991
And are you still there?
Hard to believe it is well over 30 years ago now.
No changes since then are 'improvements', imo.

Ah the Jobcentre at 2:45 - spent a lot of time there in the (late) 1990s. Think that building is part of the University campus now?
It’s the maths and science building for Exeter college!
All of Exeter is part of the University campus now

Bit awkward that this was 30 years ago and it doesn't really look any different now except for Princesshay...
