Good video, although I don't personally see a point ducking the hihats when the kick plays because their frequencies don't clash, one's high, one's low. You do however want to make your bass duck when the kick plays.
Gives it more of a natural feel coz usually when drummers are playing the kicks they don’t tend to always play hihats at the same velocity
@@simbadean-ralphm8627 Except that you'd want to emphasize the hi-hat on the 1 and the 3 and real drummers definitely do that so I'm still gonna have to disagree, respectfully :)
i find it gives a tighter more compressed feel, since standard sidechain compression would just duck everything anyway, which a lot of people like the sound of
what size drums are the best and which do you use?
I don’t currently have the space to record acoustic drums, so I just use VST’s like Addictive Drums.
I don’t know what the best size is for drums, but I doubt there is a best size. Whatever gets you a drum sound that you think sounds cool… that’s the best one.
