Feel what the first one from Great Britain is thinking. She absolutely made the smart choice not to go out again when her mind really wasn't in it. This sport is taxing on the athlete on so many levels. You'd hate to see her hurt herself by continuing when she knew deep down she shouldn't.
I absolutely agree. It's very clever not to continue competing if you're not 100% in your head. The risk of injury is far too high.
Come on, man, Kamila Konotop is a straight up dude. Like the announcers are saying "she's" definitely doing something the other competitors aren't doing...

WTF is going with the Italian team? Their coaches are failing their athletes.
They should follow Romania strategy of a easier first lift and then go heavy… almost every Italian is missing all lifts
I believe they don't care about any competition other than the olympics and are trying every time to qualify for it. If I'm correct you only need one huge total for that. Team italy is gambling on this by opening heavy and hoping their lifters have a very good day which leads to them bombing out very often.
They're so far out of qualifying in total kilos that they've decided the best option is to go all in on a single super heavy lift rather than chipping away it. It's high risk, high reward. Their athletes basically only need one successful lift to make a huge jump towards qualifying, the downside is that they miss more lifts and it's likely bad for their mental health.
Their strategy is insane and is not doing any of their athletes any good. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them never fully recover mentally from what's being done to them right now.
Seing Taylor goof around backstage was such a breath of fresh air. Very well captured. Seemed like she was just there for the vibes... and to make impressive lifts.

If the Belgian woman Sterrckx can’t qualify at 59 she’s going to drop back down to 49 class. She’s pretty lean right now that 10 kg is 17% of her bodyweight. That would almost be like a guy dropping from 89 to 73 to get in. Wow! Akbar Djuraev dropped from 126 to 102 to qualify but that was different because he was carrying some excess beef at 126 still not easy because he’s a 109 ordinarily.
I keep thinking to myself that these athletes must feel so weird waiting for their attempt with a camera right in their face 🤣
But I do love these videos. So many athletes that achieve feats beyond impressive and admirable.

According to USA weightlifting site: "Team USA is officially in the Pan American region and would ordinally compete in the Pan American Championships, but this year’s PAC being hosted in Venezuela presented logistical and safety challenges for the team"
Basically because the US obliterated Venezuela economically and still has sanctions on it, and Venezuela is hosting the competition that the US usually competes in, the US athletes were too scared to go in case the locals attack them.
So the Europeans felt bad and gave them a pity invite to compete in the European competitions. However the can't earn medals here.
