I took one for a test ride, and could not stop thinking about it. Was not in the market for a new bike, so tried to just forget about it. But then a week later had my bike in for a service, and took another ride on the Bobber, and ... bought it. No regrets, such an awesome bike. :)

i love mine, and you were partially responsible for pushing me over the edge. i’m 6 foot. the only thing is i think i look massive on it. i ram a poll on the fb site asking how tall owners were and most were around 5.8. shrug. it doesn’t feel small when riding it though. and that 3rd gear is so good. could use better suspension but… she’s so pretty. i’ve done nearly 3 thousand miles on her in first 6 months. my first bike. i’m 53. lovely ride out to southwold from cambridge on all the B roads last hot weekend. all good. great video as usual.

This video, I have watched all the way through and I concur pretty much fully with all the points you make. I've now ridden the Bobber twice, once in its original incarnation and once earlier this year and it's currently neck and neck with the Rebel1100T in my affections. Both have excellent engines, handle and fit me well. The Triumph has the Charisma, but the Honda has the amazing DCT transmission. My Rebel review is out tomorrow at 6pm (hint hint) and I shall probably follow up with a comparison video of the two. Oh and I met Hippo-Drones and Phil480 today too. Hurrah!

Like you I am 6'2", I like the low seat height and the slight lean forward to the bars. However due to arthritis in my knees I went with the floorboards and heel/toe shift lever, which I absolutely love. The low down torque gives it an excellent ability to briskly accelerate when required, whilst being easy to ride at a gentle cruising pace too. The handling is surprising, far more nimble than one would expect with it's fat 16" wheels, though I do find the short travel suspension will occasionally bottom out on pot holed roads.

A handsome bike from the rear , very vintage looking with it's commodious seat . It would look even better with a narrow front tyre and an 8" headlight . Swept back bars would reduce the straining .
I have heard that the short suspension travel bottoms out quite easily . Maybe just a flaulent rumour .
Perhaps this is a petarade foisted upon us by other reviewers who don't know their *rse from their elbow .
I am sure that Uncle Stu , who , advanced of years , uses his bobber more frequently than your youthful self .
I was worried that you wouldn't like this bike , it is quite a relief to know that you concentrated on the job and passed it with easily with flying colours .
I suggest an additional colour , a resplendent khazi , the " Thomas Crapper Limited Edition ".
I would feel flushed with pride , if I rode one .
    That's enough for now , I must go .

Nice clip Taym, bike suits you. Like the proper footpeg placement but it needs buck bars or small ape hangers, or better still, the bars off a Speedmaster, would give you the upright riding position without the reach to the bars. Don`t know why more dealers don`t have an in shop facility to customise these things new, to buyers satisfaction before they leave the shop, "Bespoke Spokes", or "Andys Andlebars" perhaps? Last one I did with the pull-back bars was a Yammie 600N fantastic comfort - all day riding.

I haven't ridden the Bobber but I have sat on one and, as a short person, I can tell you I found it instantly uncomfortable. The bars are far too low and I end up leaning forward with my arms at pretty much full stretch. I would have to have taller bars and probably pulled back slightly. I find the T120 supremely comfortable and have no issues at all with all day or even multiple days riding it is one of the most comfortable bikes I've ever ridden.

Yes, if you are shorter and the seat and bars need to be adjusted. Triumph makes 1-inch up and 1-inch back set of raisers that help. They also have a slightly larger padded seat that moves the rider a bit forward. I'm considering the forward controls as well.

I am a shorter rider ( 5'7") 30 " inseem and despite this I couldn't 'get on ' with the Bobber riding position and much prefer the Speedtwin (which I bought). I note that none of your modern classic bikes have fairings and you've commented that the single clock on the Bobber and Speedtwin seems to deflect air. I had considered fitting a screen to my Speedtwin for long trips but wondered whether it was worth considering, what are your thoughts please? Thankyou for your constant stream of excellent videos!

Thanks SW 😁 I find screens to be funny things 😁 They don’t all do the same thing. • @greywolf9292
      @greywolf9292 Před 10 měsíci +1

I'm of the same opinion as TAYM regarding screens, their shape is as if not more important than their height unless your talking about full size cruiser/tourer type screens. I've fitted taller touring screens to three bikes, a Yamaha FZ1-S, a Kawasaki ZZR 1400 and a KTM 890 Adventure R. The FZ1-S OEM screen was dreadful for head buffeting, fitting a taller screen lifted the wind to the top of my helmet. Wind noise past my ears was still an issue but the buffeting stopped.
The ZZR had the double bubble screen but as I'm tall I couldn't crouch and tuck behind it. A Zero Gravity touring screen lifted the deflected wind from around my shoulders to the top of my head but at higher speeds it would drown out my mic in the chin of my helmet. The KTM came with the short off road screen, I fitted the taller S model screen mounted on a Puig adjustable screen mount. This proved ideal as there's 130mm of height adjustment and as well as being able to be locked in any position, the screen will raise itself the faster you go if left unlocked.
I guess what I'm saying is there are Pros and cons, no screen means a broad band of less troublesome wind. A short screen will cause higher wind around the shoulders which may cause buffeting. A taller screen will raise the wind to the top of your helmet or over depending on your height but at higher speeds will be loud around the ears. Only a full sized Touring/Cruiser screen like I had on my Vulcan 1600 Classic Tourer will place you in a calm bubble.

HP,Nm.HE also likes the Super Meteor that looks better & both same price but Harley got more features.Triumph Tiger 🐅 660 is another but is 3.5k more.
The Bobber with Motone up & overs & panniers & it a winner Triumphs are fantastic bikes & fit & finish is great even on my Trident 🔱 & it just gets better from there.Lets hope the Triumph 400 keeps up the high standard as best they can for price.Triumph 400 is 37Nm & 40hp so down on Harley x500 which no good for my mate HE'S to big for Triumph 400 the HD x500 is 47hp 46Nm & got 820mm seat height good for HIM.Super Meteor he'll fit but if HD x500 got 16000km valve adjustment might be a factor.

@@TAYM Speedmaster is more popular being more capable to travel further.Only thing that these Triumphs need is a 13.5-14L tank they do have quite a few bikes with 12L tanks Street Twin,Speedmaster,
Bobber.Considering you leave 2L in tank at fill up only leaves you 10L which would be 200km max range cruising less going hard out 190km.
I guess being a 12L tank you can afford go lower so about 1.5L minium left in tank at fill up any lower risk grit etc getting into fuel system. Also most bikes you can squeeze a extra 400-500mls filling straddling level bike & Triumph manual will tell you this. All Trident 🔱 reviews say 14L but in manual says that on side stand but level
when you straddle bike get 14.4L upto just below filler neck.I usually just fill in side stand but notice about 20km later first bar goes away as when I fill straddling bike get a out 30km before first bar goes away then about 21km per L average of 4.7-5L per 100km depending on how you riding.
