The HDZero goggle helped me break my plateau, I don’t know what and why… maybe it was the shear pleasure of flying that system, maybe it was just something different that got me excited to happily fly dozens, upon dozens of batteries every day??? 🤷♂️ especially after living with O3, it was very different!
Also my room is exactly the same right now, and so is my office 😅

It’s the low static latency. I didn’t even realize i noticed latency until I switched.
@@grimripperrr I mean… I noticed the huge latency differences back on analog.
20ms+ box goggle and 20ms+ cameras make flying super annoying compared to a proper 1ms goggle with a 3ms camera. Most of the cameras were just unflyable for me. And this was something that really held me back when I first started flying, before I figured it out…
I was so confused why one build sucked and another was a pleasure to fly, until I quickly realized that cameras (and settings) make a massive difference!
But the way the HDZero goggle feels is unique, I’m not sure what it is exactly, and if it’s just the latency, I don’t think that’s the full picture… (frame based sync)??? 🤷♂️
On a lot of digital systems (even when the signal, and image is perfect) you get a massive amount of dropped frames, and for some reason my brain gets super thrown off with that phenomenon… and apparently wants to notice every single one!!! 😜
Or like I said originally it could be something new that just made me enjoy flying more… but in that case why didn’t it happen when I switched everything to O3 (I was WAY more excited about O3 than HDZero)(actually when I originally tried the HDZero VRX, I thought the system was absolutely unflyable, because of the unstable latency, and completely stayed away until I got the goggle on a whim in December)… I honestly don’t know, and won’t pretend to.
But consistency and flighfeel IS very different among all the systems, for me. I also greatly struggle with the flashes on analog (super similar to the dropped frames phenomenon on digital), but when flying HDZero I can’t even see the static… WTF!? is that about??? There is definitely something… less intrusive, more real, I dunno 🤷♂️ but boy does HDZero look bad looking back on recordings, it’s really weird.
I have also been really enjoying the picture and cameras on the Avatar system, it has a good flight feel (compared to my Vista and O3 setups) but when I want to have fun, and rip hard, I always grab my HDZero goggle nowadays!
Open to any insight! I am fascinated at how different “similar systems” are!

I've had the sharkbyte system for a while, i've had my hdzero goggles since February. I actually tried dji v1 goggles the other day for the first and I was not impressed with the lcd screen, latency wasn't bad, but I found the experience to be lacking. I would go dji 03 but I hear so many complaints about the goggles fit, and screen refresh. I'm actually leaning towards walksnail, it seems to be closing the gap. One thing that I like about digital over analog is that I have a crystal clear image on a quad that normally has lots of video noise issues. The other thing hdzero doesn't seem to play nice with with crossfire and the antennas being close.
I ran the V2 goggles with an 03 on my freestyle drones for a few months and I still do on my 7inch, it’s a good combination

I was really unimpressed with the image quality of the hzero, especially on 1s whoops. I sold my hdz goggles and moblite after a couple of flights. DJI is superior in every way that matters as long as you don't care about the 10ms of extra latency.
I think you’re right about DJI and I own DJI V2 goggles and O3 units and as soon as I switched to hdzero I was way more confident in flying faster and more comfortable taking bigger risks because

Nobody should expect a little whoop camera to look like that brick called O3. 10ms? it's more in the 50ms range. To me it's extremly noticeable. I guess everybody has a different perspective on that. Some pilots favour cinematics, resolution and recordings; while others favor flight performance and compability. But yeah.... in general DJI is better for beginners and people who use to fly alone.
I would say if you are unimpressed, it's definetly not for you. Also you can't judge a system by its dvr, it must be flown.

I know this probably isn't practical but I run Skyzone o4x V2 goggles (analog) with a HDZero VRX(digital) receiver mounted because I didn't want to buy a new set of goggles. This setup seems to be alright for me!

I'm ugly as fuck so I use the DJI goggles v2 chonky boys to conceal more of my face while I fly. EZ.
I have those goggles. They’re pretty good actually, I use them with an O3 on my 7in and cinehwooop
@@grimripperrr I get outstanding range with them so I have no complaints. The only thing that pisses me off is it unbinds all my quads if I switch from O3 mode to Vista and Vice versa. It’s easy enough to rebind but it’s still annoying. I probably just need to update my firmware 🤷♂️

I fly both like many do and I find myself flying HDZero more and more each day. I actually never realized I noticed latency until I flew with HDZero... definitely feel more locked in with it.

It’s worth it, the goggles are good, and if you don’t like HDZero you can get a walksnail vrx which some people seem to like or just run analog.
@@grimripperrr have they fixed the analog yet? I have been contemplating getting a rapidfire before the goggles come in but I’m not certain yet.

@@adamkennedy3247 factory firmware has no problems, at least on me. Problems came when people tried to update them because the last firmware at that time wasn't stable. Just don't update if it works. You can do that later

Ahhh. I want to love HDzero. Much spicier than analog of course. But but whoop lite is so fragile and such poor range / penetration than analog if I compare my Mobula 7 ANALog to my Mobula 6 HDzero. Going back to plateau for now I guess...

I don't understand HDZERO, it breaks up in a way that distracts me from flying, even worse than analog breakup. If they had a mode that didn't break up that maybe added a few milliseconds of latency then I could see it as a valid product.

I agree. I use a TBS VTX with a Foxeer TRex camera and it has excellent video quality. Good enough that I wont spend the money for HDZero.
Yeah analog is cool. I just like the clear digital video that helps me see more stuff

FPV stands for First Person View, and it's just the method of flying an Unmanned Aircraft with Goggles as your display. So a drone that requires goggles to fly is called an FPV drone.
