I am not sure where I stand when it comes to counterfeit decks. I got one because I thought I wouldn't ever get the original anyway, even if the counterfeit did not exist. So I don't think I harmed the creator directly. But now I'm thinking I harmed them indirectly because I supported the counterfeit deck industry.
I accidentally purchased a counterfeit deck a while back. It is a deck that is actually no longer in print - I didn’t realise that at the time. I guess it is one way to get OOP decks, but it doesn’t sit well with me and I don’t use the deck for readings as I really don’t like the energy. No one knows who these counterfeiters are or if they have connections with any other crime…not to mention the effect they have on artists/creators and the tarot community.
@@IndigoC333 Yeah same, I like the images in my counterfeit deck but something throws me off. Maybe it's the quality or the size or the idea that the art was stolen in the back of my mind.
Just ordered the Bad Bitch package deal. So excited to see them too. I'll never get enough Tarot cards or Oracle cards either.

Thank you for this PSA, Ethony. I've accidentally ordered 3 counterfeit decks in the past 10ish years (mea culpa). I realized two of them were counterfeit as soon as I got them and called out the sellers (one was on Amazon, one was on Etsy), but it took literally years for me to realize that the third deck wasn't a pocket deck but was a counterfeit. I now know what to look for but I've also noticed the problem is getting worse. Thank you for helping people discern the difference.

I've been working with The Mantra Oracle by Lili Barbery-Coulon. The messages are wonderfully supportive. I can't pronounce some of the chants, lol, but it does push me to look up how to say them online.
Hafiz oracle (its gorgeous, gentle, and beautiful) and Quantum Oracle. The art is nice but it's the messages that are powerful
I'm loving the Tree Whisper oracle, doesn't have a guidebook currently so am really focusing on my intuition. Just got the zammer Twins from creator patrick valenza and excited to jump into the weirdness 😅 I've really connected with the guidance of the goddess oracle, the art is cool and the guidebook is so amazing each time.
Oh and themed decks, I'm obsessed with collecting the season of the witch ones. I really connect with these.

I have quite a few oracle decks - some with lots of text for each card and some with none (think Soul Cards!). Sometimes I resonate with the artwork and not with the guidebook. One of my first decks was Wisdom of the Oracle. It’s a great deck with a fantastic guidebook. BUT when I pull a card I only connect with the artwork and titles, and not the guidebook. I tried and tried, but eventually I realised that I had to read it intuitively - a scary step for someone starting out.
I’m using Roots & Wings, but my favourite is the Enchanted Map

I have many oracle decks but I think the one I've used the most so far is Of Seed and Sickle oracle deck. I found out about it after you used it for your Wednesday pick-a-pile reading :)
Great overview on oracle decks, and warnings on fake decks! Right now my favorite trending is Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein. Allows me to connect with my Higher Self.
I had purchased about 4 decks from a metaphysical shop that is now closed that had been pirated before I ever came across your channel ,now I feel embarrassed to say I have these but we live and learn. I now try to find videos like you do of the unboxing so I know what decks I want to purchase. I will not buy a pirated deck again. I understand it takes away from the creator. Thanks for all your videos.

I'm fond of The Starseed Oracle by Rebecca Campbell and Danielle Noel and I LOVE The Wisdom of Tao Oracle Cards by Me Jin Lu. (Although I do tend to be what you called "a collector" !)

Thank you for this video. Honestly I would just assume a deck I'd get on Amazon would be ok but clearly that was not a safe assumption. I can't imagine what kind of readings a person think they're going to get if they knowingly buy decks that are stolen from the creators. Like can the energy ever be right if you do that?? Anyway, as for choosing decks I was looking for a flower deck and watching 10 billion reviews of ones and none of them made me "ping" but then YT recommended a channel I've never watched who reviewed her plant decks and I said "Oh well I'm sure I've seen them all at this point but I'll click on it anyway." She showed the Floriography deck by Rowan Blossom which I had NEVER seen and it was PERFECT. Took some time but the right one finally found its way to me
The crap thing is that places like Amazon and Etsy used to be safe places to buy decks but now they’re over run
I currently have Whispers of Nature by Angela Hartfield and Josephine Wall. It was given to me by my husband (I made a pre-choice list, he just chose one from that list) for Christmas 2022 and I just love these cards. The messages are clear, the artwork is gorgeous and they're not to big for my hands. I have a few on my wish list at my favourite tarot shop, but I'm still content with the ones I have right now. Tarot cards on the other hand... my goodness. It's a good thing the wish list is endless, lol.

I find it's easy to find images for a deck, but in-depth information on the accompanying book is almost impossible.
Lots of Oracle deck guide books are smaller in size. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe because people or publishers assume people don’t want big guidebooks?
@Ethony in later years I've become more interested in the creator's thoughts over the images. I enjoy a new deck, but at this time I like books more
Basically if a deck that retails for 50.00…. Is 3.99-10.99 etc it’s fake. I actually sell on eBay… household stuff but occasionally I purge my decks I also buy decks… I’ve probably purchased around 50 to 100 decks on eBay one of them with fake and that’s because the person used photos from the actual website but it wasn’t the same product.. it’s essentially like stealing, and the cards are always very, very shitty. I understand not having the funds to purchase the deck you want rather than buy a fake baby jump into meditation / manifestation and save for the real thing. I can’t even imagine what kind of energy or vibration that the speak cards have.
That is what is was going to note as well. Price is a major indicator.

Agreed on the counterfeit decks. It’s too easy to say ”I didn’t know” when a quick google search would shown you that the original deck has no QR code, and looking at a walk-through on youtube would have also shown you the cards and what they’re supposed to look like. I get it, nobody is immune to getting ripped off and that sucks but most of the time it’s so obvious it’s fake 🤨
