Thanks as always for the support Gopher❤ Looking forward to your playthrough
You guys are doing gods work fr. Oblivion is one of the best games ever made. Take your time and take care :)
I love you.
Can’t wait for the play through! Gopher plays the best
I had only played skyrim but once i had heard about Skyblivion I have been waiting ever so patiently for its release so I am not spoiled.
i don't like the lockpicking system, i never liked it in Oblivion and i don't like that they are bringing it back almost exactly like it was.
With both Skywind and Skyblivion both becoming closer to being finished than ever, how long till we complete the trilogy and get Skyskyrim.
😂
We have it will release next year and it is a modder proyect to revamp civil war and whole main campaign It has been years in development but I always forget Name
Skyfield.
Star-rim
Probably will happen with the tes6/7 engine
Skyblivion and Wayward Realms fixing the attribute system all these years later
The greatest part is before the next official elderscrolls game is out we have skyblivion and sky wind to play thats like 2 extra elder scrolls games
sadly these days, i'm far more excited for the modders creations over big old bethesda slop, they use way to much proc gen to the point their game was boring and too repetitive, they did this originally for FO76 and also for starfield and they expected the fans would just eat it up.
they have had to spend many years fixing their fuckups, for both games, starfield may have many more years to become a worthwhile game for most to want to come back to it.
but yeah, i find myself far more excited for mods than i do than actual bethesda released content, they have forgotten their ways in which made them a good developer and game maker.
I look forward to gathering exactly 198 grapes and turning them into stamina potions.
It is crazy what mod teams can do sometimes. Pure passion tied with an understanding of how to create mods can result in awesome things.
Attributes + Skills + Perks
The perfect RPG system, imo.
What about traits?
Much like Total War, I think ES6's main competition will be modders making better* games than modern Bethesda can.
*more in tune with their audiences desires, at least
IMO this is one of the reasons they keep updating their games in ways that break all the best mods, even a decade after release.
@@joshuastender4871 I mean, the easiest workaround to this is just to turn steam updates to launch only.
It's very simple for your game to not break despite Beth releasing an update.
SureAI game on TESVI engine please.
I'm so unbelievably hyped for skyblivion. oblivion was my intro to the elder scrolls series and this team absolutely just "get IT"
Skyblivion, Skywind, Baldurs Gate 3, Divinity 2, Kingdom Come Deliverence 2... Gopher, are you planning to get any sleep in 2025?
Skyblivion not gonna get released by 2025, its just a marketing/hype stunt
Marketing? How is it marketing if they're not making money off it@@profbfc
@@profbfc I hope I remember to come back to this comment, either when Skyblivion drops, or on 1 January 2026.
@@Undivided_X please do come back. I will be here
@@profbfc what makes you so sure this is the case?
There a a bunch of Open spells in Oblivion and they are NOT mods, they are just in the game for anyone to purchase.
Gopherian shoutout! Wohoo! Really looking forward to Gopher's playthrough ❤! And Divines' Blessings to the team Skyblivion!
Oh I can't WAIT to play this. Wish I wasn't so thick and could help the project.....
Can we assume a lets play?
Yes you can :)
@@GophersVids This sparks joy.
AWSMMMM
Will we meet one of Leonards ancestors?
@@bradtransue9471 Considering Leonard's surname is Septim...yes, you will - it will not be the Hero of Kvatch, though.
Huge congrats to the team behind this. I remember 5 or 6 years ago, so many naysayers thinking they’ll abandon the project.
100 games have been developed since then.
I have wanted a Gopher playthrough of both Oblivion and Morrowind for so long, to think those days may actually come, by Azura by Azura by Azura. For real though this is so cool and I can't wait for it to come out too.
Something most modern players forget is the Elder Scrolls games were built to simulate a game of D&D. It wasn't uncommon for players to take notes when playing a tabletop RPG.
I recently reinstalled Oblivion. When I opened the CD case, guess what I found inside? Yes, the maps and game manual. The manual had Post-It notes onto which I had kept track of my skill progression per level with hash marks. It took me back to playing the game 15 years ago and back to the days of playing D&D with friends, cataloguing details, making maps, etc.
A bit of a tangent, but I find it amusing that a large part of my job these days is digital mapmaking. I had no idea the 10 year old kid who drew maps of fantasy worlds he invented would grow up to make maps. Life is weird.
This mod has me more excited than any upcoming games.
Cannot wait for Skyblivion. Looking damn good. The menus look amazing especially the updated Lockpicking minigame.
Edit: I made an Excel Spreadsheet to track my skill level ups when playing Oblivion so that I could maximize the skills.
2024/25 is certainly shaping up to be ‘spoilt for choice’ and absolutely will make for an engrossing let’s play from your good self, I can’t wait to see what you do with them, the tantalising morsels they are feeding us are beyond amazing and I am thrilled they are on the horizon
Don't see Skywind before 2026.
@@AVerySillySausage that’s a valid point, bit of wishful thinking on my part then 😂 but at any rate, what the modding community can accomplish is truly something groundbreaking
Really stoked to see this mod finished. And i 100% agree with you on the level up system in Oblivion. It was a damn nightmare in my opinion.
I asked my daughter if she’d seen my newspaper. She told me that newspapers are old school. She said that people use tablets nowadays and handed me her iPad.
That fly didn’t stand a chance.
A nostalgic trip down memory lane! As a fellow gamer, I appreciate the dedication to remaking Oblivion in the Skyrim engine. 🎮✨ The blend of classic gameplay and modern visuals is pure magic! Kudos to the devs! 👏🔥
Thank you for your coverage of these projects Gopher!
Their teams are doing awesome work. Genuinely excited for the day they appear as a play through here :D
Couldn't quite get into Oblivion for some reason (and part of it was the leveling). Great to see that they are fixing it.
When this finally gets released, I could definitely see it creating even more opportunities for modders to expand Skyblivion, giving them some more assets to use (assuming that's allowed) for even more mods to be created.
Am very much looking forward to this (and Skywind as well). 2025 can't come soon enough! I only wish I had the time (and skills) to contribute.
I had an unbelievable good time in that small "Beyond Skyrim: Bruma" mod and an actual feeling of a true 3D Roleplay game again. Cant wait to feel this in Skyblivion
Skyrim mods working on this game would be goated.
THE most exciting project of the past decade. I cannot wait (but will).
The change to how leveling up works is very welcome. It was my first TES game and one of the first RPGs I ever played so I didn't know better but it sucked hard what other game has the meta be select skills you never use as your major skills? It's broken in the worst way.
Lockpicking seems to be a direct lift (ho-hum) from ESO and that's no bad thing.
It's fast and intuitive, plus in ESO you can spec to just bust them open anyway.
Lets fucking go! Skyrim's more modern systems with the freedom and story of Oblivion. I'm excited to re experience my favorite Elder Scrolls game in this modern form.
Looks absolutely incredible. Oblivion is my favourite in the series and I hope they keep some of that old charm the original had :)
This just looks phenomenal! Props to these dedicated folks working so hard!
I cant wait to see you play it Gopher!
This is so spot on. I loved everything about oblivion except the leveling system. It’s the only reason keeping me from replaying it.
that constellation UI is so good!!!
And people said that TES 6 will come out before this mods are done... Thank you for never giving up!
Dude the music at the end gave me CHILLS
Their UI work is absolutely amazing.
Amazing, thanks for the update!
Yes Gopher, there was a lock and an unlock spell. you have to assess the arcane University first... Which means you would have to progress through the mages guild up until that point and have a lot of gold to create the spells that you want to use.
Bethesda will update Skyrim 2 days after the Skyblivion scheduled release date.
It looks great! I too remember the whole level up worries even though I did like the "Class" System. I loved having a title for my character's build and I really liked how you could make your own class. Oblivion did have "open" spells. It also had the Skeleton Key which made lockpicks unbreakable and once I got that I just spammed the "Auto Attempt" button on locks.
One of the things I really loved about Oblivion was how you could use spells even if you were a two handed weapon user and you didn't have to first unequip your weapon to cast. One of my favorite play throughs was using "touch" spells with two handed weapons and wearing heavy armor. I also used mods to make myself a Arthas/Lich King character. I couldn't go full on evil and destroy everything though. The multi-summon mod I used would have the summons in the guard faction, so if I attacked any guards they would turn on me.
I am so looking forward to watching you play this whenever it comes out. It will be a blast! 😄
All we need now is starscrolls. A project that make the entire planet of Nirn (to realistic scale no less) in Starfield.
I remember stat crippling my first oblivion character, luckily I figured it out before I leveled to far. I can't wait to roam around the fields near Skingrad thinking it's as beautiful as it was when the game first released (og oblivion unfortunately has not aged well, though I would argue it aged better than unmodded Skyrim). I am so glad they have a clear release in mind because I was worried their ambitions may be too much. 😊
A modern looking menu like in skyrim just doesn't look fantasy (aside from skill trees). So seeing them replicating the feel is nice but glad to hear the levelling isn't back. The first thing I modded was the skill system because needing to remember how much you leveled skills to maximize it was dreadfull. Also having your main attributes be the ones you used most was detrimental which was ass backwards.
Yeah that system was just shit but the usual Bethesda attitude, "if it's broke, don't fix it, remove it". I have never understood why neither them nor modders for that matter have thought of attributes and skills working in the reverse way where attributes effects skill gain rates instead. Tbh though, I think the TES skill progression system is inherently broken, it may be more "realistic" but it's impossible to balance because not all skills level at equal rates meaning you have to cheese to actualy get to decent ranks in some of them. And also some skills just aren't that useful until later levels, but you can't just invest him them and wait for the payoff, you actively have to use worhless skills to make them good.
I was already excited for both this and Skywind, but that info about the level-up system just nails it.
I wonder if the custom spellmaking is going to be as broken as it was in the originals.
(And yes, there were Open spells.)
I remember the woes of trying to get your +5's. You felt like you needed that in Oblivion more because of the terrible enemy leveling system. I assume this one will be more like Skyrim but I wonder how unique magic items will be leveled.
I've waited so many years for this!
I can't wait for both Skywind and Skyblivion. As a gamer I'm far more hyped about these two games than almost any other upcoming game.
Out of all the mod projects in all of Bethesdas games Skyblivion is the one in most optimistic about
this is the mod, out of all of the skyrim/fallout mods in development, that I am most excited for.
Thank you for another great video.
Gopher is going to visit the Tower doomstone immediately to avoid having to minigame.
Felt just the same about the UI, it looks amazing and so sensitively done with reference to the original game. Very impressive work.
I'm looking forward to this one, Oblivion was awesome and seeing it with the Skyrim engine is going to be fantastic. So kudos on this.
Really pumped by the changes to the level-up system. It's one of the things that bounced me off Oblivion several times. I've yet to get very far in the game in part because I always felt like I was doing it wrong when I leveled up. This project looks amazing, in so many ways.
Skywind is adding acrobatics back into the game but skyblivion isnt and thats a shame. It was the best skill in oblivion.
it was kind of OP tbf
Looks wonderful
Between this and Skywind, all we need now is a Daggerim mod.
We need a project in the vein of OpenMW but for the Skyrim engine. It can become a forever platform for the modding community that built up around these games, like what happened with Doom.
This and Fallout: London are my most anticipated games of current gen. hopefully they'll both release roughly the same time.
I think the foliage and a lot of the material shaders need a lot of work but its amazing what they have done overall.
Oblivion was my first rpg and elder scrolls game so the attribute system was cool and new to me as a gamer. I never found myself trying to optimize the point gain, I'd just take the highest numbers and go with those as that's what my character improved on the most. I'm glad to see it's coming back in a modified form, as maybe Bethesda will copy it for the next game.
So close, yet so far, but can't wait!!!!!!
OH, this is absolutely lovely. Though I have to say I much prefer Skyrim's levelling system. Attributes are all good to have there, but good HEAVENS. A level-up system that pretty much forces one to improve everything BUT one's core skills ... no thank you. I mean, I pretty much always wind up with a bit of an all-rounder anyhow but I would really prefer to have the choice. Also yes PLEASE - I would watch the heck out of a playthrough here!
I look forward to your playthrough !!!!!! Thank you in advance dear Gopher 😊 😊 😊 😊
can't wait gopher.
There will be a Todd Howard mod implementing PTSD features just like in the good old days
Skyblivion looks how I *remember* Oblivion.
Honestly cannot WAIT FOR THIS
Kind of, in a way, I wish this had been done like Beyond Skyrim. Would be nice to simply travel from Skyrim like we did with Bruma.
I too Gophy am waaayyyyy toooo excited for this game!
Did you say more... Detail?!
I cannot wait!!
Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game so this makes me very happy. I've been dreaming of a proper single player ESO experience with all the different realms
Skywind and Skyblivion are real ES6.
As much as fallout london is exciting to me, (and watching you meet yourself ingame is going to be surreal chaos).😂. I must admit that skyblivion is the project that is winning my heart. Its just so majestic and full of detail and love and wonder. Exactly the right ingredients to get completely lost within 🌌✨🌄
I kind of enjoyed the ancient levelling. It was a unique Elder Scrolls feature that got sanded down by Todd resulting in the horrible classless mess we have today.
Skywind just released an update video a week ago as well! They both look amazing!
Skyblivion looks amazing, this and the Beyond project are actual things I'm looking out for, because at this pace I'm not expecting TES6 to be an enjoyable game, if it even ever comes out.
i replayed oblivion recently-ish. But when this comes oput, i'll probably give it a run too.
oh sweet, new vegas leveling
Yes, Oblivion had Open spells. You could buy spells for very easy, easy, average, or hard locks, but you had to create a custom spell for very hard locks.
I have never played oblivion before so i will be playing this first before watching your lets play.
At first I thought we wouldn't see either Skyblivion or Skywind before TES VI. How silly of me
Yeah oblivion has open lock spells, I think the mages guild even gives you a free open easy lock spel early on in there quest line
this guy is absolutely in love with Oblivion
I got a bad impression of the original Oblivion because I tried to play it on the Xbox, but I’ve come to enjoy it more on PC with mods. Skyblivion looks great, like it keeps the nice bits of Oblivion but gets rid of the bad and outdated stuff. I’m super impressed with the team’s work!
My first character in Oblivion was a Khajiit who, upon discovering bergamot plants while strolling through nature, devoted his life to searching for tea plants so he could become the inventor of Earl Grey tea in Tamriel (it’s black tea flavoured with bergamot). I was about 10, it was my first open world game and I didn’t really understand how such games worked or that the developers probably didn’t add the possibility to make tea blends to the game. Which one was your first Oblivion character?
Honestly, I'm kind of jaded. This kind of projects are always "almost ready" and "just around the corner", but never are actually released.
We'll see if they will make it available next year, or will it be still "almost ready" in 2025.
Except for all the similarly sized mods which did release, of course.
I really hope (and suspect) that the Skyblivion team send you an early release to help with development. I'm sure they'd love your thoughts and opinions! 😊
I just said this on the official trailer but I would love to see the leveling system for base skyrim. I have been playing oblivion with the Ultimate Leveling mod and I would love to see the similar options in that mods. I cannot wait xD
I really hope Bethesda see this and get inspired to make good games again. It's kinda sad that I've been anticipating this mod more than I have TES6.
Yeah there's open lock in oblivion 😊 I think the mages guild quest even gives you a free open easy lock
Skyblivion is actually looking amazing. I also went to leave a like on the dev diary itself, but I'm looking forward to this so much more than any TES6.
I hope they fix the render distance and day time lightning. Sun makes everything look yellow like morning not day time
Imagine once this is done they move to another old elder scrolls and once that is finished thoy move to amother and they join them with a mini movie in between as a time lapse or something so we can play the entire franchise on 64. Would be awesome.
Do more Mod Previews: Odyssey of the Dragonborn, and all the Beyond Skyrim releases!
Oblivions level up system was indeed needlessly cumbersome. And my very first mod was one that HD-ified the UI. I remember the idiotic abbreviations. And about 5 items visible in the list. The other important mod was "no psychic guards" which stopped them from teleporting behind you on every illegal activity, even without witnesses.
Other than that, Oblivion doesn't look too bad (faces aside).. I was always a bit lost with this project. This is a LOT of effort to recreate it. More so that the more dated MW. My wildest dream would be a remake of Ambermoon...
As for the leveling, only Oblivion had a real issue, in Morrowind you can at least train skills as much as you want, long as you had the coin
Oblivion limiting training to 5 per a level and even more expensive was a real ball buster
Not to mention that Oblivion's creature level lists could very easily power creep you being skill point limited, which Morrowind didn't have much issue with.
but good to see this is nipping the concern in the butt.
