Thanks for the kind words, Gopher! Great summary.
Back in 2013 when Gopher first drew our attention to the Skywind project and told us to go help the team out… is why I’m a professorial full time voice actor now. Thank you, Gopher and Skywind team! 😄💙
I had drifted away from youtube for ages and got hit by the thought of "need to check to see if Gopher is still going" and saw this dropped 15 minutes ago, serendipitous
Welcome home friend, he's still very much active. :)
Same, such a nostalgia coming back, I fondly remember the days of Stiv Gro Fur and Richard playthroughs, Gopher will always be my top gaming channel even if I just occasionally come to "check" on him.
Re map markers: They are indeed planned to be optional, meaning that the game is designed without them in mind but they can be turned on in the settings. The same goes for fast travel.
I’m so happy they opted to include them but have them turned off by default since I’ll be wanting total immersion & that morrowind nostalgia but really want my friends to experience it too & know they’d prefer to play w/ quest markers & fast travel (as blasphemous as that is lol)
At 78 not sure I’ll be around, Morrowind was the game that got me playing games. As my first game, I have to say it is my favorite. I eagerly await skywind.
Hats off to you! I hope you get to play it for a long time.
I'm sure you will be.
My office (at home) had a gigantic map on the wall, and I had not one but three notebooks with details to be logged (not going to say what they were😉
Divines bless the creators of Skywind & Skyblivion. For noobs, Arcane University is the first stop to get in to these projects.
Showing your age by saying 'give them a call'?
We show our age when we say 'I get nostalgia from hearing the Morrowind soundtrack'.
Skywind and Skyblivion look amazing.
Here's hoping I'll be alive in 20 years when this releases 🤞🤞
I won’t be so play it for me!
That's if they don't start over again when ES 6 comes out. Who knows though. ES6 might not even be out by then. lol.
@@gadman85 cant wait for ES6 on starfield engine 🤣
@@gadman85 I don't have any faith in the quality of ES 6, so I'm going to pretend it doesn't even exist.
20 years, holy thats hard to be alive then, but you do it Boy, the legacy lives on
Next up is a Tamriel Rebuilt remake for Skywind! Woo!
In 2090
I'm currently playing Morrowind again, and the last Skyrim playthrough I have (on pause) I added as many Morrowind options as possible. And I've been watching tons of Morrowind content on YT lately. Every 5 years or so, I go hard into Morrowind.
OpenMW + TR
I see "Wake Up!" like that and I hear Astarion yell it. I never played Morrowind, but I'm absolutely going to watch your playthrough!
I'm always astounded by the amount of love and work the teams behind this kind of projects show.
This was the second TES game I ever played and it remains my favorite TES plus my favorite video game ever. It just feels right. It's wild, brutal, in-depth, fascinating, has a soundtrack that sends shivers down my spine, an atmosphere that has never again been emulated, and a quest that's a path to true godhood. Fansttic! I can;t wait to play Skywind and see Gopher's LP.
Thanks for updating me, Gopher. I haven't followed the project for over a year now. Good to see they're still kicking.
I need this. Suffering from Elder Scrolls withdrawal here.
It’s amazing Skyblivion also released an update video both look so amazing when this these projects release I’ll probably be only playing these two games and beyond Skyrim for the rest of my life.
Oooooh, this is fantastic! Morrowind was my first ES game that started my love of video games! Great news!
I keep forgetting that Skywind is a thing but every time I get reminded about it I get a big smile on my face.
You had me thinking you’d got your hands on an early access version of the game/mod! I myself am definitely looking forward to this one, been following the project since you mentioned it ages ago, in fact!
The genuine excitement and love you're speaking with... it is great, simply loving it and I can't wait to see your adventures in Skywind.
Ive been following the SkyWind project a long time but one other thing i couldnt get clarification on that Morrowind had which left the rest of the series was the Left and Right armor pieces like Pauldrons, Gloves and boots. This was fairly important i think because it added to the randomness of trying to outfit your character as the game went along.
I definitely appreciate this showing up in my CZcams feed, I definitely wanted an update on skywind and you've brought it! Thank you so much for the update!
i genuinely cant wait for this to see gopher play and play myself
The Skywind project is now older than Morrowind was when Skyrim released. I can't wait to play it one day.
Looking forward to this still. My son will look forward to it as well.
Wish Fallout 4: New Vegas gave updates the way these dudes do.
Most anticipated game .
I remember I thought in 2018 "Skyblivion can't bet that far away anymore!" I would hope Skywind makes it out before TES6.
My favorite part of morrowing was collecting rare item. Placing them in my house. You could stack potions then place your item. Remove your potions then your item would remain floating in the air.
Big thanks for the shoutout :)!
The quest marker will be off by default but can be activated in the settings.
they did also say that people have asked them about using AI to speed up voice processing, and they are not doing that. All voices will be done by actors.
Next year Skyblivion is set to release too. Gonna be a fantastic year for modders.
I need this overhaul so bad! ES6 is like 5 or 6 years away so this is going to be a wonderful distraction.
I'm vibrating with such excitement at how this is looking.
I cant wait for you to play it either, I love Morrowind and the only thing that really dates the original (which I still have on disc) is the body graphics. Im going to love watching this replayed with new graphics. Well done everyone involved.
Skywind and Skyblivion are what Bethesda should have done years ago!
My first TES game was 3 and it was outstanding wish i could play this mod
Yea it's bloody epic and I'm so excited for it.
The game looks great and I'm really looking forward to it.
Modders doing amazing work. One of my favorites, this will be fab once it comes out.
My eagerness to play this is off the charts!
Morrowind is my favorite game of all time so I've been looking forward to Skywind for a long time. It's great to see the progress they've made, I just hope I'm still alive by the time it's finished. 😆
Nice summary from Captain Veleth!
Super excited about this myself.
Morrowind is a top 3 game of all time. Can't wait for this mod
The Skyblivion mod is looking super fun as well
That's amazing! can't wait
I wish I picked a faster moving franchise to fall in love with. Both main stream titles and second party titles. I feel like I’ll be long dead before I see any new elder scrolls
Updates on stuff like this always has the initial shock reminder that bethesda use to use a different engine and updated to a new one when it got outdated. man it was a different time
Nice to see Skywind is moving forward!
For anyone curious who's not already a fan, OG Morrowind is a great game, even unmodded, if you can adjust to the retro quirks. Worth a look, then you can understand why old fans are so excited!
The combat will never be great, but that's not the core point of the game (basically it's mostly based on character skill, like d&d, including rolling to hit your target which tends to confuse people). You can make it pretty dang beautiful with the STEP modding guide too. And there are tons of expanded content mods for it. Great House Dagoth lets you join the antagonist, for one amazing example, and develop new supernatural powers. There are also several very cool companion mods- Julan the Ashlander and Constance the thief being my favorites.
When I got to Morrowind, it was already dated and clunky. Especially because of the combat and dialogue system, I couldn't get into it properly. It also didn't help that the world was still suffering from the issues of first open worlds - repetitive and bland. So I'm really excited to play Morrowind with proper combat, proper dialogues and proper world design.
Can't wait to watch you play it, so excited. 😃
Can't wait for you to play it!
I still haven't played Morrowind (or Oblivion) - I got into Elderscrolls via Skyrim, so I do hope to get to play this
I have missed you Sir, and am anticipating rediscovering Morrowind with you💘
3:15 - The spirit of the Skyrim introscene is strong with this one.
No need to bunny hop. Just take fall damage from using a low tier jump amulet without snowfall. Acrobatics goes up way faster and is a unique play style.
Gopher I’d love to see you do a playthrough of Morrowind. Maybe livestreams since it wouldn’t work great for regular playthroughs with text dialogue
Looks good!
I can’t wait for this, but you should check recent slyblivion video how they do skills, attributes and perks. I think you would like it how they do it
Yup! Bethesda going so slow that one of these eternal projects may actually see the light!
I look forward to the game-breaking next-gen patch Bethesda will release 2 days before Skywind comes out.
I really like how they are trying to keep most of the that made Morrowind different from Oblivion and Skyrim, like the modular clothing and quest where the directions of what to do and where to go, are still in.
As far as I remember, there were some discussions about the modular clothing and if it was going to be implemented. One of the first things I got a permanent enchantment on, was a pair of pants. It regenerate stamina, so I could run from place to place and still hit the damn cliffracers :D
Vivec is my favorite city in Elders scrolls
Can't wait to see the derpy Guar... my babies will look so good in this game ;-;
hope im still alive in 2066 when this comes out! in all seriousness super excited and been following the devs for years on these multiple mods.
Both will drop the morning of October 23, 2077.
Bethesda will definitely need to take some pointers on the gameplay features you've shown. Skills need to be in every RPG, if you ask me
Can’t say enough how excited I am to play both Skyblivion and Skywind.
I have played both original games when they launched way back when I had hair… 😅
They are the most amazing games I played and marked my life. I started learning English thanks to these games.
Thanks to everyone involved. ❤❤
Would love to see a Morrowind or Skywind series on this channel :)
I'm still super excited for this, but it's been so long at this point. Idk if it'll ever come out
Lets goooo!
Why does the video end with wake up? This is some forth wall breaking shit xD
I thought for some time about learning some coding, because both Skyblivion & Skywind seem to be awesome (can't wait to have them out, really wanted to have them out sooner rather than later, want to see you, Gopher, doing a playthrough of both - bring back Bill, if possible/suitablle), but then russia escalated its invasion of my country, Ukraine, messed up ALL of my plans for the next several years (I ended up enrolling to stop the russians capturing our capital etc.), and now the Army schedule doesn't quite allow any time for modding... well, for lots of things. :)
problem with qest marks is that somties not having them is better but also not having them at all also often suck.
Example of good - you get nice direction to place, you follow them it feels better than being directly told where to go, nice
Example of bad- you are supposed to talk to one of the main characters, The problem they move across city so now you are spending 10-20 wallking across entire city because you have no idea where they are currently and unless you look up online to see their schedule you are guessing.
I prefer having combination of both. rather than limiting it to just no quest marks, or having precise quest marks.
Most games are really bad at telling you in writings or dialogue the who, what, where, how and why. So they default to map markers. Personally I like map markers, I don't get to play story games for extended periods at a time. So often I will entirely forget huge parts of what I was doing and what was going on. Map markers make it a lot easier to navigate in said situations.
A journal that records those details in an easy-to-find way is even better! I say this as someone with the same problem- I often install "take notes" or similar mods that let me write down what I was doing inside my game. The only problem with map markers is when they cause the game to skip that part- both together would be ideal.
Morrowind was very good at telling you the details partly because it didn't have map markers. If they add them but keep the great journal, that will be perfect.
I wonder if they'll also have all the quests from Morrowind.
Skyblivion launches in 2025 as well
I love Morrowind but I'm more exited about Skyblivion, are you gonna cover/play that too? YES?
I'm wondering if they'll stick to Vvardenfell exclusively or if they'll expand the map to mainland Morrowind as well.
I hope they do Dagoth Ur justice by having a good VA for him. The original VA was so good.
The only time Map Markers are "good" is when the details of the quest are actually lacking. Like "go to the Cave of Snows" rather than "I have been told that Hrothgar travelled west, possibly to some caverns called the 'Cave of Snows''. I should look for him there." I agree though that Morrowinds Quest Notebook with all the detail is superior in immersion to the "go there map markers" that became so popular with many players.
Y'all think it'll be out in time for Shirley Curry to play? I think she'd have a blast with it
Sounds like a good time for an enderal DLC play through ;)
Skyrim was my introduction to TES, so I've never played morrowind or oblivion, and I honestly was only drawn to skyrim because DRAGONS! I'm amazed they put so much effort into this project though.
I wish I had skills, or money to donate to the project. Would be so cool. But sadly I have neither..
i hope you make a sequel to skyrim too like a realistic scale
One word: levitation. Enough said.
I’ve been honestly hoping for a Morrowind playthrough from Gopher for a long time, especially after I had a really great time with OpenMW
That's cool and all but I hope the mod will be compatible with animation mods. Seeing the old, 2011 janky vanilla skyrim animations while exploring such a beautiful, hand-crafted world will be really painful...
Yeah, well, just don't go the fromsoft way of doing quests without map markers. Its horrible. You also have options to disable markers and such, to traverse the world via its signs, landmarks, etc. like in RDR2. And there's games like outward that have a quest journal and map to help you navigate the world without quest markers. It also puts a heavy emphasis on preparation.
Levitations back.
of course it is Gopher you think the Telvanni would just let Any scrub Into their tower Unless they Didn't Have Levitate.
i feel OpenMW solves most of the technical issues of Morrowind for modern PC. And the UI ones. Not sure i see the point of a mega project like this. I have some issues with Morrowinds gameplay (combat, instant respawns) and story (way too bloody many generic factions) , but that probably won't change in a recreation. All that remains is the graphics, but Skyrim is hardly the benchmark anymore. .
Maybe they scrap a few house quests. I remember one literally sends you outside to buy something of a trader and come back, which felt incredibly uninspired......
But more so for Skyblivion because modded Oblivion doesn't look that much worse than Skyrim.
what are the odds that the Oblivion remaster drops before either of these?
Sky's aside, I'd love for you to do a modded Morrowind (OpenMW perhaps?) playthrough, Gopher.
I have 2 gamebreaking questions
1) can morrowind's magic be replicated in the skyrim engine ??
2) are we gonna have to deal with morrowinds BULLSHIT of important npc's die by accident by not the hero, cause i was locked out of many quests like this because the npc was killed in a street fight between 2 npc's and got involved because he was pushed by accident..
Morrowind is on my shortlist for this winter when work is slow.
For a virgin playthrough, would you recommend ‘02 MW with QOL mods or Skywind?
I’m not opposed to spending spending a few days of learning how to play, I just wonder if beginning with Skywind will poison-pill me for the original if they change too much.
I prefer driving with a strong tail wind
But my wife says that's not what the term means, and all I'm doing is making the car smell like rotten eggs.
will there be a basic lotd for skywind? for all the items?
I appreciate the work they're doing, but at this rate TES:VI is gonna be 25 years old by the time Skywind is done.
I'm excited for both skywind and skyblivion but skywind looks so much more compelling.
Oblivion and skyrim are structurally extremely similar already, and personally the only really exciting part of skyblivion is the dungeons, as the oblivion dungeons are. Pathetic.
Meanwhile skywind looks like so much more. Hopefully i can find time to actually play through morrowind for once before then.... plenty of time i suppose.
