- The Everest Route broken down stage by stage: Stage 5: The Summit from the South Col.
How do you climb Everest? Step by step.
Here at Climbing the Seven Summits we have created a series of route familiarisation videos because we believe that prepared climbers are successful climbers and being able to visualise the route, and the climb ahead not only inspires, it hopefully educates and helps contribute to your safety & success.
Additional footage supplied by Teton Gravity Research with special thanks.

Honestly I would love to just get as far as base camp, to be surrounded by those incredible mountains... amazing. I'd never be able to do the climb, but these videos give me a ton of respect for anyone that does. Absolutely incredible.
You can do that, I'm planning to! There is a beautiful trek from Lukla, Nepal, (you fly into there from Kathmandu), which takes you gradually higher and higher, through the foothills, through little Sherpa villages, up past the tree line, up to Everest Base Camp. There are guided tours, which I plan on doing, rather than attempting that on my own. It doesn't require the extraordinary preparation that climbing Everest entails; if you are physically fit and healthy, it's very doable. I'm planning mine for a couple or three years from now, depending on several factors. But, I'm going, God willing! 🤗💖🙏
@@La_Ru-yg8es wow that's amazing! Good luck I hope you have an amazing time
I have just seen the movie Everest and read the book Into Thin Air which documents the events of 1996 Everest tragedy. Am absolutely amazed by the sheer passion and determination of the mountaineers who trudge on despite their bodies going through so much. A little incline on my treadmill and am panting for my dear life !! Mad respect for them
I have a similar goal! Hope we both make it there at some point :)
@@La_Ru-yg8es did you get to go? I hope things went awesome
People spend up to $150,000 USD & you only get to stand on the summit for 20-30 mins maximun. It's a thoroughly incredible achievement for a individual & very dangerous (Particulary coming back down) but when you weigh up what you could have bought for that money is sobering. I have summited twice out of 3 attempts & summited with my Physiotherapist from my local hospital which was handy to have if needed. We kept her occupation a secret otherwise she would never leave base camp. Is it worth the money ? Yes, for different reasons at the time for Personal reasons. No regrets about the money. Money is just paper. There were tangible things which money can't buy. Great life long friends, being part of a great expedition which was very dangerous as well & of course the wonderful Sherpas who i would not have made it to the summit without their help. They are the real heroes of Everest.
I would like to see people not just training for the summit, but also train the acceptance in them for a failed attempt. It is not worth dying for just because you want to succeed in an environment that works against you for A REASON. Sometimes not getting all what you want is good enough!
I’ve been to Everest two times and didn’t summit either time. First time was due to avalanches second time I got to camp 4 2 different times and had to turn around on summit day because I felt horrible. I probably would have made the summit but not back down. Turning around was pretty crappy. I know climbing Everest means nothing to anyone but me I just like being there and I want to do it, I go back in 2022
Well said mate, im from Perú and i couldnt reach the summit of Alpamayo, the most beautiful mountain in the world, that was my 3th mountain attempt, my body was exhausted and dehidrated, the high altitute hits me hard so i had to give up. Bautiful trek and amazing views but its not worth to die.
@@alanluscombe8a553 were you able to summit in 2022?
@@TimesUp777 I did, had perfect weather and great help and it all fell together perfectly. Had some of the best weather a lot of people had ever experienced there from what I heard. Thank you for asking have a great day
@@alanluscombe8a553 you are welcome. That must have been awesome to be there and climb Everest.
This is one of the best videos on the different stages of climbing Everest. I feel like I've been there, done that now. No need to risk my life and spend tens of thousands of dollars to do the real thing. Thank you Seven Summits!
I can’t leave without saying how fantastic their logo is!! Love it!!
I think my favorite part would be the Balcony. Looks absolutely amazing!!
I cant understand why you only have (at the moment) around 25K views... You have accomplished something amazing and I enjoyed the video series very much.
A lot of this footage is taken from other youtubers and just edited into their video. Its still a great film but not really a cool thing to do without giving credit.
@@nikolakarovic6509 Looks like most (all?) of their own footage to me. Read the video description.
@@saltydog6241 plenty of elia saikalys footage in there
Dziękuję za interesujący film przedstawiający urok najwyższej góry świata 😊😊😊😊😊😊. Ośnieżone stoki, wejście na szczyt ❤❤❤❤❤. pozdrawiam was! 👍🇵🇱. Renata
Incredible series and very well documented. Thank you for your time sharing it and congrats on conquering the Everest!
I'll be there one day.
Same hopefully
That's really very difficult task , you proved that the word impossible itself says that it is possible, That's a great inspiration for us.
Climb into bed......enough for me.
Love it! Fun to see myself at the balcony 2:48... I'm dressed again in this shot after getting down to my underwear. It was hot as snot that day. Thanks Mike and Caroline!
Just beautiful
Impressive, no words can describe it, so emotional. I would be happy if one day I can reach the base camp ❤
Already in my bucket list
Writing this here to exclaim that I will climb Mt Everest, one day.
Nooo
You can do it! I hope to trek to EBC someday. I'd be content to just stand at the foot of this magnificent beast.
No you won't
Welcome to Nepal
@Sam Armstrong lol when you compare k2 to mt everest.
One day I will be there👍👍
Attempting my first summit this spring. Then lhotse 2024
Great series, and what an achievement! You got some balls on you lol
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I will be there, one day.
I was there this morning! 🏔 now I need a nap Tnx CZcams! 😴
Good job the best World 🤘🤘🤘
I want to go there one day but I hope I’ll be smart enough to turn around and come back another time if it’s the right move, don’t plan on doing anything without the sherpas say so
Nice video, I feel this mountain needs a rest, it's become a pay to climb mess.
I don't understand how someone climbed in 8 hours 10 minutes
the scariest part to me is still the Khumbu icefall and those crevasses you have to cross over
It must be a cakewalk climbing Everest now since the Hillary step has been leveled
go for it
nice
Yellow snow at the Balcony rest stop. He he.
I'll be there soon
1:00 is there not a higher point
Until this part I was watching thinking “ah fuck looks easy enough”
The last parts may look easy, but don’t forget that it’s only easy in a couple hundred meters above sea level. Hiking up a mountain from 5-8xxx m is a completely different story.
@@pin9r The first parts are what look easy, past C2 made me go "oh shit"
Y no break down of the descent?
i would want to get back down from there via wingsuit
i was just thinking this when i saw the view from the summit lol
Great insight.
All made possible by the sherpas who are the true heroes.
Please take responsibility for the out of control rubbish & environmental contamination - take your rubbish back out - pack out what you pack in.
Would like to see some of the dead landmarks
Where’s the first. Second and third steps?
That's the North-East Ridge route from Tibet. This is the South Col SE Ridge
Not gonna be ale to do main reason age and don’t really have a fear of heights but past a certain height I get dizzy but on oculus climbing Everest I will do virtually.
6 Summitt that's like 180 to 300,000 bucks
Due to its unique altitude, Mount Everest is certainly a challenging mountain, but in true mountaineering terms, it really doesn’t compare to peaks like K2, Nanga Parbat and Annapurna, and a few others. You just have to check the number of successful summits of all these big mountains.
There have been many outright novices that have been dragged up to the summit of Everest, something that would never happen on the others mentioned.
its not the most technically demanding but it is hard due to sheer altitude. Out of that list of mountains only k2 comes close to everest in height. nanga and annapurna have less summits but they also have far less summit attempts and climbing teams every year. Annapurna is not so technically hard either its just very dangerous because of its shape and main routes have a huge problem with avalanches. Easiest 8000er is cho oyu. Every mountian has its own reasons for being difficult and dangerous.
how people can summit everest multiple times if only 1 climbing costs £45 to £70k
Psh. Climbed it alone, in VR. Not impressed 😂
What game or simulator allowed you to do that? Does it take 34 hours like in real life or is it much faster?
What if you need to poo.
It looks easy
Nope
so cringe
hundreds of people a day so much so that the most dangerous thing these days are the traffic jams up there
and still they can't just shut up about climbing a mountain
So instead of taking down your trash and empty oxygen bottles you just throw them in the nature? Didn’t think I could despise mountaineers more then I already did 🤦♂️
Everything including trash, human waste and empty oxygen bottles are removed from the mountain.
