  • Pride is probably a word most of us could give a quick definition for. It's easy to spot in other people, but how can we operate in self-awareness to know how pride is surfacing in our own lives? And what are the costs of letting pride go unattended?
In this special bonus episode, Lysa, Jim and Joel discuss the layers of pride, revealing its subtle yet profound impact on our relationships with others, God and even ourselves.

Wow! Thank you. I see humility with a new understanding. The " Soil from which God’s Way grows, matures, bears fruit within us!!!!" Revelation so precious. Thank you LORD!!!!

WOW!! Joel, thank you for your book, "Hidden Peace". I am participating in the Circle 31 study and have benefitted tremendously. Your insights in this segment were so meaningful! Lysa, your humility and transparency throughout the years inspires me to be a better person. Your comments in response to Joel's question brought me to tears. You are the very model of humility and you push me to be a better person. I have followed you and Proverbs 31 for many years and have enjoyed many studies via your online platforms. Thank you for being a truly good influence for me. God bless you!

Outstanding message. We have to go back to the origin of everything GOD and the garden of Eden.

There are so many great takeaways in this video. I especially loved the comments Lysa makes at 10:21 about peace before God and the two pathways to “face down before God,” being humiliation or humility. Thank you. (Looking forward to reading this book, Joel!)

I see pride as the foundation of every sin and things like greed, envy, sloth, etc are subsets of pride which pronounces "I matter most and I deserve what I want, when I want, and how I get it. Above all, pride announces that God's intents and purposes are not enough and below our estimations and expectations. Satan's fall from grace started with pride and that is why I believe it is the deadliest sin. I like your explanation of God taking man which He created from the lowliest substance and lifting man to elevation...when we allow Him to raise us up, it takes away our need to force it to happen. Thus the reason for humbling ourselves before casting all our cares on Him...once in a humbled state, we no longer need to worry because we have released ourselves to our Almighty Creator. Thank you for this truly thought provoking program

Lisa, the scene in the grocery store was powerful. These are the moments I want to take action in when I see them and what I want to be remembered for---compassion.

Oh the sweet spot of being in between undervaluing or over valuing ourselves. Balanced from knowing who God is and who I am and who others are… humility!

John Piper put out a book on the 7 Deadly Sins… but in his review each of these sins origin is pride… so our lust, wrath, sloth, greed… at its base is pride. Eve’s base desire in the temptation was to be like God… Pride is the base for all sin

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
    Proverbs 6:16-19
    Doesn't mention lust.
    4:15
Lust doesn't always mean a sexual desire. Lust can also mean greed.
