This video was so sweet and your consideration of Kobe was exactly as it should of been.
Working with dogs for over 20 yrs, as a kennel tech and working with rescues it is very important to make them all feel the same love and protection and that they are still important.
Even to the idea of one having meds to take, and some not, they all get a tiny piece of treat just so they don't feel left out.
My boarding babies and rescue babies all know Nobody is left out.
It creates bonding with them and me and keeps down competition and cage aggression.
They should feel as safe and comfortable and protected as humanly possible no matter the reason they are confined.
You did an amazing job with both of them.
The new pup felt safe and loved.
Kobe felt he was still the boss with his new sister.
And he knew he was still very loved and wanted and important to his family.
All FURBABIES SHOULD BE SO BLESSED. 🥰🐾😇

Thank you for not docking tail and ears! No dog should be given an artificial handicap because there are people who think it is more beautiful or more threatening. Let dogs keep all all forms of communication please! Tail and ears are so important for all interactions with other dogs and humans alike!
I am a licensed veterinary nurse and I 100% agree. If she ends up with kennel tail, then it becomes medically necessary. That might not even happen so there is no reason to cause that pain in advance. ❤🐾

Kennel tail, we call that " happy tail".
But it is usually caused by stress of being confined.

@@kimlangham1077 yes, you're correct and it does have a few different names depending on where you live. It saddens me that so many don't understand why it happens. Too bad there isn't licensing to own dogs or have children.
Golden’s are the absolute best! Kobe took on the role of “parent “ perfectly, by setting boundaries and reprehending when needed. You can tell these two are going to be inseparable and the best of friends! As for mom and dad… great job on allowing both dogs to find their place in this new situation! Your dogs are beautiful, and they're lucky to have such good parents! And I commend you on not buying a dog that had its ears or tails sliced off! That kind of mutilation has to stop.

I had almost the same experience with my 2 cavaliers. The older one is almost 9 and the baby is 4.5 months now. At first the older one wanted nothing to do with the pup, but in our case the pup was quite forward and was not put off by the older ones growls. Took them 3 days to be best friends. Now they are inseparable.
The pups sure can be stubborn... you're going to love me whether you like it or not 😂

Cavs are amazing!! We've had 2 Cavs, over time, & my sister had her own while living there. I don't remember how the first dog Arthur reacted to the second Maverick. But they were the best of friends & inseparable! When my sis got her Cav, Harrison, Arthur acted like a father & loved playing around with him. Now, Arthur has been gone almost a decade, & Mav recently passed away, But Harrison is still here.
Getting fat & middle aged!!! I'm just crying every day for my Mavvy, :(((

Good to show this. Dogs are amazing how they sort things out. You showed them both equal attention and let them have space to work things through. We recently brought a new puppy in to our quite elderly labrador. The older dog will take time and they put boundaries down for the young dog. This is all normal and healthy. Our two dogs are now utterly inseparable and love each other to bits.
Yup! Moki needed to learn her boundaries with Kobe, and the best way to teach her this was to let Kobe do it! So we just let them get on with it 😂 we would monitor them just incase something went really wrong haha, but was fine! Love that your elderly lab and new dog are inseparable now 😁

This little pupster Moki looks as if she walked straight out of a Disney movie. Those two bonding is only a matter of time: dogs are the best social adapt animals you can find. It's exactly for this reason that young animals that have been abandoned by their mothers are being paired up with dogs, whether they are baby bears, baby lions, baby deers, or baby aliens for all I know.😄
It’s shocking how fast she’s growing. Even before the end of the week she’s noticeably grown.
And she will continue to grow for another 2 yrs too.

We can truly learn so much about dogs. No matter the situation, we can leave for 5 minutes, and come back home, and their tail is just wagging because they are so happy to see us! I wish humans had this type of jubilation. Dogs are the best!

This is a very good example that it's all about showing both dogs how much they are loved. I don't have dogs but I imagine it's not always easy to recognize that it's not all about the cute puppy when you already have an adult dog.

We bread our 8 year old golden (Cooper) and kept one of the puppies (Rudy). When we brought Rudy home Cooper thought it was the best thing in the world. After a few hours of being worn down by the energy of the puppy, Cooper was ready for him to go home. One of my favorite pictures is from that day, the two of them sitting side-by-side. The look on Rudy's face was pure joy and acceptance. The look on Cooper's face was abject bewilderment. Of course they became best of friends and doubled the joy of having golden retrievers.

I remember bringing our lab home when he was 8 weeks old. Our biggest fear was the cat. She is known as having a cantankerous side. I was really worried... But we put him down (the lab) and she walked up got soft eyes looked up at us as we held our breath and it was sort of like, "OH you got me a puppy"... She has loved him ever since even though she is still 7.5 lbs and he is 100. He loves her too. We had a female Golden sweetest pup in the world and they got along like sisters but less affection.
The lab and the cat though show affection to each other in lots of small ways... The dog will go find her sometimes and sniff her so she will do a head rub against his face. Then he's happy and you can see it. He snuzzles her at least a few times a day we can see, just a quck nose to her neck behind the ears. No huge displays of affection, just complete acceptance and obvious love...
The wife made me take the cat when she was still in her first year and we weren't married but she had been left in the neighborhood. She was princess of of the street. I was shocked by the cat's response to the lab pup, but my wife said she grew up with dogs for the people who had owned her down the street and seemed to always get along with them.
They moved and I don't think they could find her as she pretty much lived outside going from neighbor to neighbor, quite the character... Very independent. So, of course I had to take her home, first meeting her coming out of a storm drain and soaked from a spring rain storm and she didn't care acting like she owned the neighborhood. She saw me and came over like, Hi, who are you? Give me a pet. That's how I met her. I remember moving with her and she jumped out of the truck and I spent two hours trying to catch her at a rest stop. NO WAY. I finally had to go, was going to call, make signs etc. but when I got in the truck and turned it on, she came running like let me in... Then she sat on the seat next to me like, that was fun... See what I have had to deal with for 12 years with her? We call whatever it is she's got "Wokie."
We've been lucky with pets.

Absolutely loved the little baby swaddle/carrier you used for Moki when taking her to the dog park! 😂 Had there been something like that around 20 years ago, I would've used it for my beagle baby Josephine/Josie when I first got her as a pup! 😂❤ Moki also reminds me of my Josephine Jellybean interacting with the vacuum as a pup! Only with Josie, she would go hide under my parents' bed or the couch, and begin barking like a brave dog! 😂 That was one of her funniest things besides her zoomies-- Josie would act like a big, tough dog as long as she was hiding behind someone's legs, under the couch or bed, and would start chatting shit (ie barking) from her hiding place! 🤣 I used to sarcastically tell her, "Gee, thanks, Josie! Remind me never to expect you to defend me if we get in trouble!" and she would often just give a big dopey smile like "Yup! You're MY meat shield Jessie Momma!" or she'd give me an " 'ey f*ck you!" look and let out an annoyed sigh! 😂
