    Awesome video Mike!! What pads did you use for both machines? What pads do you recommend for both machines?

    I like the 3401 and the c beast etc but its really hard to beat a rotary. Looks good mike 💪

    Can I use a 5 inch backing plate on the 3401? I have all 5 inch pads and don't want to buy all new 6 inch

    Do you think rotary’s are necessary nowadays? I can cut just the same with a rupes or flex forced action DA and not leave holograms or even the MK3 15 regular DA still cuts very well I have a rotary but it’s just so more complicated and requires more steps

    Tbis video is older than 3 years because if you look at Mike now, he looks about 10 years older.

    Another awesome one Mike! Unfortunately I just burned the edge of a hard body line on a new VW Jetta using the new version of the 3401 (speed setting 4, lambswool pad, M100, light pressure). The paint was so hard that 2500 sanding marks couldn’t be removed by any other means. Do you think the edge burned so easily because I had to tilt the pad slightly in order to get into the tough to reach area where the sanding marks were?

      It's hard to tell, when you are using a forced rotation or a rotary you always want the pad spinning off the edge. If you have the pad spinning toward the edge then you take a chance of burning a edge... hope this helps

      @@carbonconnection2480 Thanks Aaron! I guess I was negligent to assume that the slower rpm of a forced rotation compared to a rotary wouldn't be enough to strike through an edge that easily...lesson learned the hard way. I'll definitely keep "rolling off the edge" for now on!

      When in doubt about the edges tape or use a smaller backing plate.😉

    would you prime the pad no matter what buffer you're using? example... a cyclo?

  • @bosoares
    @bosoares Před 4 lety

    When was this video shot? Mike was still priming the foam pad. I know he doesn’t normally do that anymore.

    • @ronjondrums5184

      Seems like it's an older video for sure. I know he changed his mind on that a while ago, since polish tends to spread out over the face of the pad after smearing it on the panel just like it would had you primed it. I still like to add a spritz of diluted ONR to my foam pads to aid in lubrication, it works for me!
