I FIXED the Boosting Issues on the 1.8t Mk4!

- What a productive weekend: painted the manifold, changed the thermostat, replaced some broken hoses, and replaced the injector cups which fixed my running issues, so it's running 100% touch wood 🤗😅

2 years later and your videos are still helping me out with my GTI 😭
The flutter sound the blow off valve makes is because you have your boost gauge hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator thing on the intake/fuel rail where you have the red hose hooked up. At least when I switched mine to that spot it made that fluttering sound then switched it back and it went back to normal.

I see you're running a Forge Dv? Is it an atmospheric dv or full divert??? If it's set to atmospheric that can cause check engine lights on vws. Dump valves don't work on these engine run running a MAF.

Hey man, how reliable you think your engine is? I got the same car as you golf gti 1.8t 162hp but I’m still wondering if is it worthy you know put some money on it I’m thinking In changing the engine for a different one like the Audi 2.9 twin turbo or the vw tfsi 2.0
Engine light that comes and goes is exhaust sensor or MAF SENSOR can get dirty at times currently running ko4023 in ed25gti

I put money on the check engine light being 17705 and 17704 with a possible lean code too..
It could be a number of things causing it but more than likely it's because you have a leak in the pipe from the wastegate actuator to your DV... 100% i can tell because you're getting flutter.

Never owned a 1.8t VAG car before? I can guarantee that within 12 months of doing so you would have searched "1.8t losing boost common problems" a thousand times. You will also know every inch of the car's engine bay like the back of your hand and be able to strip it and reassemble blindfolded. When they are running well they are great, but don't get used to it.
I got a mk4 jetta 1.8t with boost issues too and a lot of carbon build up..... time to resurrect my channel

Just a quick question : I see yours has the boost gauge and the GTI logo on the back , whereas the one I'm purchasing doesn't have the boost gauge and it has a 1.8T logo on the back. Are there any differences engine wise ?
None of them come with a boost gauge

It will be Gator. If you pull the pipe off any dv from the wastegate pressure pipe it will give you flutter naturally mate because the Dv isn't under vacuum so then not working properly 😁

having the heater on full blast isnt how you air out the system its a tell tale that it is air locked, if you have the heater on full temp and the air coming out is cold that means there is no flow in the system, you need to take the lid off of the coolant header tank and run the engine, you will see bubbles in the header tank which is any air being pushed out :D

The reason it’s making that turbo noise is because your diverter valve must have a hole in it or you don’t have the hose from the diverter valve in the T outlet

Hi billet 1.8T Injector Cups any know were to bay them?
Trust me, I feel the VW struggle! My 1.8t Passat has given me nothing but grief over the past month. btw, do you use vcds lite or any specific VW scan tool? I just paired vcds (downloaded for free on my laptop) with a $20 obd2 to usb cable and I have a much better idea of what's going on with my car now. Just food for thought.
I don't, I just use a ebay £5 scanner 😂 but I do need to get vcds 👌

Did you have any visible cracking on the cups? Around my injectors is filthy too
I couldn't really tell, they were quite brittle one they were out, but it solved the issue when new ones were in 🤙
Smashing, I'm having massive idle issues and eliminating things bit by bit, vibrating, slight hunting and every few seconds jumps up by 80revs and back to normal for a few seconds, eliminated most things to do with boost and vacuum so injectors cups and seals now, thanks for the video 👍
@@BWTV I don't know how you managed to remove the cups, mine were sat in there so bad that I rounded off the plastic on every cup and my Allen key was a perfect fit lol. Took a blowtorch to the plastic cups and melted the bustards out but what a mess.

Check your diverter valve, I had the same flutter sound until I replaced it and it’s back to a nice pshh sound 😂 it’s also better for your turbo I’m pretty sure

I agree, the diverter valve (recirculation valve) has split internally, that is the flutter noise you are getting. Buy a new one or go for the forge FMDV008 Valve, this is the one i got in the end.
Hey mate your car makes that noise when you let off because the BOV isn’t opening, I’ve found it’s from not have enough of a pressure differential between being on boost and then being on vacuum with the throttle closed

BWTV literally just plant it and see if you get the woosh, on my STi I can sit and give it the tiniest throttle just to get it to dose, my golf takes a little more though
Exactly.. He has a leak from the boost pipe which goes from his actuator to the dv.. Change that pipe and I put money on it curing the problem.
Ian Janane that pipe on my mk4 is held together with tape, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was my issue

hey bro the reason it makes that turbo flitter noise is bc you have an aftermarket bov, put the stock one on and it will sound like a pshhhhh instead of the flutter

Flutter means diverted valve has gone bad. Or the vac line going to the top of it maybe check that too

You really need to address the intercooler rubbing on the belt and the eml light will probably bee the maf because there's more air going through it then if you had the stock airbox on, does it on my fiesta diesel :P
I know I do, gonna speak with the guy who made it and find out whats best. Yeah possibly, hopefully soon it will be clear 😂

My mk4 gti, seems to build boost and then at about 4.3k revs it starts like spitting air out and the turbo doesn’t spool!
Possible boost leak somewhere? Get it smoked tested then go from there 👍
Take a big socket and hammer and put a dent in the pipe where it’s catching your belt

BWTV thats quite low for a mk4 , mines only got 68k on a 53 plate
People putting the air filter at the bottom is a huge huge mistake trust me i had to replace piston and piston rods due to water sucked through the straw of a filter at the bottom.
By no means am I a painting expert 😂 but Woudnt you be better off doing a few light dusting coats first before absolutely lathering it with paint.
I would usually, but the can said for it to wrinkle it needs very thick coats 🤷🏻♀️😆

BWTV I never spray my car with paint cause I don’t trust myself 😂 I always use plasti dip so I can take it off if I eff up.
