    Possibly, no, PROBABLY the most useful art instruction I've ever received. Bravo! It really helped tame the subject of color mixing for me.

    I know that you have made me a poorer instructor, I simply cannot express how much better you explain these concepts than any other person I have met or watched. I am poorer because I say when asked about these ideas I just say go watch Denise on “In Liquid Color “ I hope that this is Ok, and I wish only good things for you and yours!

    There are some very beaitiful colours you created in the process of creating neutrals. I'm learning a lot.

    Extremely informational. Thank you. You have a lot of time into those color charts. I am just getting into watercolor myself. I am also going to have my oldest daughter, who I homeschool, watch this video for her art class. Keep the videos coming!

      I'm glad it was helpful for you! I'm an educator by day (elementary after school art programs), so it means a lot to me that you find this video valuable as a teaching tool not only for yourself but for your daughter as well. I am getting the itch for some more color charts, so stay tuned! :)

      Looking forward to seeing them. My daughter and I are awaiting our Jane Davenport Peerless watercolor set. We are purchasing them together as we are both on a tight budget and just getting started in watercolor. I am sure we will be making a chart of some sort as well as a cool cover to store them in and make them portable.

    Could you please do a video defining the terminologies you use (i.e. granulation, swatch, etc.) thank you.

    • @manvisemart2465
      @manvisemart2465 Před 3 lety

      Granulating pigments are heavy and coarse unlike finer pigment particles. These pigment particles gets collected on the paper and give beautiful textures.
      And, swatch is like a sample which is useful to compare different colors and create a color palette.

    I have learned so so much from your color mixing! Thankyou! May I ask you how you get your videos so crisp and clear? Tricks? Camera? Lighting? zoomed in? I'm a high school art teacher and my videos are so blurry even with using a ring light and camera settings

    • @InLiquidColor
      @InLiquidColor  Před 2 lety

      Lots of light! Unfortunately space wise, I have four lights I film with to get my otherwise dark room bright enough to film in. If you have a good camera on your phone, that often works better than a larger camera.

  • @nknana3
    @nknana3 Před 8 lety

    I find split primaries a tad confusing. I would love if you would do a video with a bit more explanation.....also what colors to use to tone other colors down. Reading it in a book isn't the same as watching you do it and explain as you go along. I loved this tutorial and will be watching it several times. Thank you so much for sharing!

    • @InLiquidColor
      @InLiquidColor  Před 8 lety +2

      Thank you for commenting! I'm kicking myself for leaving out a more detailed description about the split primary color wheel. The purpose of using two of each primary in a split primary wheel is to have the ability to make the cleanest, brightest, and most vibrant secondary and tertiaries while mixing. To get those cleanest mixtures, it's best to stay within one section of the color wheel (i.e. warm blue and cool red). The farther away two colors are on the wheel the more "mud-like" it's likely to be. Mud isn't always bad, but the wheel is a helpful tool to get to know your paints a bit better.
      I put down on my list to make a more in depth video about toning colors down. In the meantime, know that you can do this with a color's opposite. For instance, if you want to tone down a bright red to a muted pink, you can add just a hint of green and it will lessen the intensity of that color. Like I said, I'll put it on my list for a visual explanation! Thanks again for watching :)

    So... if you aren’t sure what the primaries are in a specific brand, how are you supposed to determine what the primaries are in order to mix clean colors?
    Someone pleeeease help. I will be super grateful for advice on this

  • @Keyboardje
    @Keyboardje Před 6 lety +1

    Nice video, but there are only 3 REAL primary colors from which all other colors can be mixed, except white.
    Those are Yellow, but NOT red and blue. These last two are *secondary colors*, so they can be made.
    The real primary colors are: Yellow, MAGENTA and CYAN.
    Mixing with these give the most clear and vivid secondary colors you can have, and therfore also the most clear and vivid tertiary colors.
    *Secondary colors* are:
    Magenta and Yellow = *red*.
    Magenta and Cyan = *blue*.
    Cyan and Yellow = *green*.
