I love this van. So much innovation. Being able to run everything on batteries for me is a game changer. Great job.
The best class B van build ever imo. Power, space, utilities, and off-grid capabilities all in one. Great job!
Thanks!
I started laughing about half way through. Is there anything missing or needs improvement on your build? No! The most impressive build I have ever seen! I will have to look at my finances to see if I could buy one.
You should come out today or tomorrow and check them out in person! Our show is at Homewood
I thought so also. I was wondering if I should replay the video to see what this van doesn’t have. They also redesigned a lot of normal features and made it better. They should give you one to test the longevity. LOL
Thanks! It took us years of van building and 3 layouts, but we think this is the best design too!
One of the best demonstrations of any RV.
Thanks!
What I love about ModVans compared to others is the use of lots of window space and natural light. The trade off of course is having the right shades to turn things down for the night, but well worth it. This is the place to chill day or night, especially with the Queen size bed. Thank you for being considerate to those 6-3+. 👏
Thanks! We have some great window covers. They weren't ready for this show, but we have them now. They look like the ones in this video: czcams.com/video/Qu0oBUsPsnA/video.html
this! being 6'3" myself I was really bummed the first time I went into a sprinter and realized I couldn't stand up fully, I believe the transit is the only option and these appear to be the best transits I have ever seen.
Been following ModVans for about a year or so but this one finally had me at the Nespresso machine! 👍👍👍☕☕☕💞💞💞 Thx for sharing this great overview!
Haha, we even improved the Nespresso machine bracket since this video was made!
One of the most well thought designs we have seen--- -that shower is amazing-- will be calling you next week for pricing and delivery dates, etc/-thank you
Love the MHX1 sweet design & function. The soft overhead storage amazing. Wow! Crunchy the numbers into my budget is the problem 😊
awesome rig. you guys knocked it out of the ballpark.
Thanks!
Love the battery location! Way to think outside the box!!!
Thanks! Crazy that the biggest battery takes almost no space! Also, all the cells are laid out flat which makes heating and cooling them easier too.
A lot of thought went into your builds👏👏
STUNNING !
We agree!
Thanks!
Wish I had known about before buying my Class B. Love your conversion
We'll be here when you are ready to upgrade!
Very innovative.
Really like the floor battery, different floor mounts, individual heaters and the longer bump outs.
Everything looks well thought out and integrated into a package that rivals the larger RV mfgrs.
Good point on the RVIA rating also!
Thanks!
This is one of the best van conversions I've seen! The only thing I'd change for my situation is a roof top tent delete, due to it being just the wife and I that would use it.
Thanks! There are lots of great reasons to keep the popup top even just for 2 people... grandkids, trips with 2 friends or just an awesome place to sleep with 270 degree views! We will offer a version without the popup top, but it is not a priority for us at this time.
@@pjtezza can you walk on the poptop? I assume no
@@hdc2766 yes you can. We do it all the time. You can't walk on the solar panels. Well, you can, but I can't promise it won't damage them.
Very impressive innovation! And that bathroom is a great compromise for those who can't stomach the Storyteller version.
Thanks! We debated having a shower with a curtain multiple times, but, for some, hard sided walls are a "must have." The popup feature lets you have a bathroom without it taking over the entire RV. We were very excited to discover the "semi-dry" feature so you don't have to shower with your toilet,
@@pjtezza is it a black tank or cassette?
@@JohnSeitz we offer cassette, composting and dry flush toilet options, but we do not offer a black tank option at this time.
What make/model of microwave/toaster oven/air fryer is that?
Awesome! Love the innovation.
Most impressive!!!
Thanks!
Wow. Sweet build!
Thanks!
Very nice and innovative build!
Love this! I have one question, do you have/offer a build for two people? No pop top, but all of the other super cool features. Retiring in one year and will be buying in six months or so. Two bikes and me 🚵♂️🚴🏼♂️🚐
All our builds are completely modular, so you can add and remove components, especially the seats and tables. There are lots of great reasons to keep the popup top even just for 2 people... grandkids, trips with 2 friends or just an awesome place to sleep with 270 degree views! We will offer a version without the popup top, but it is not a priority for us at this time.
Cool battery.. but guessing if you want more stealth build i'll need to do it myself.
Where is the water fill for both tanks? Is there a city water also? Love your vans! I just put my class B+ on consignment…once it’s sold, I will be placing an order on line! Thank you!
WOW 😳
I was gonna go with van do it but mod vans seem to be the way to go
Currently looking into getting a van to convert. Absolutely love the shower/toilet! Would it be possible to add more storage space with the collapsible storage units?
You could take the eTransit. Got the biggest 63kWh! 😉
Nice Van and kit.
Impressive conversion and technology. Which of your vans would be best for full-time living...able to boondock for extended periods and handle 4 seasons?
I want one.
How much does it cost the way it's equipped?
Probably pricy
The MH1 is sold as an RV and pricing starts at $131,000, including the Transit chassis. The MH1/X, which has the largest battery available in any Class B RV, all high-efficiency DC heating and cooling and app monitoring and controls for everything, starts at $161,000. These are updated (estimated) prices for 2023. All our RV qualify for 20 year RV financing, RV insurance and come with a factory warranty. The MH1/X shown in the video has a significant amount of chassis and off-road options and cost about $200,000.
@@pjtezza Starting price at $161k was very enticing but your website indicates them starting at $183k
@@Infamous69691 at this time, due to the craziness in the vehicle market, the only chassis we have immediately available are ones with all the options. You can save more than $10k by subtracting chassis options. If you would like a lower cost chassis, one can be special ordered by contacting our sales team.
...........Unbelievable.........
Excellent design
Is there anything they havent thought of?
Thanks! We are still working on our final design for "all the things organized". We are taking our time to get it right.
very nice
can you tell me if we can purchase the pop-up roof bed in the EU ? or , can we order it from Mud Van ??
greertings from Belgium
Any chance we can get more shows on the east coast? I know vanlife very much started on the west coast but there are so many people who want the vanlife experience here on the east coast.
We added New Hampshire to the tour this season and it was pretty well received. Still making the schedule for 2023, so we're open to ideas. We're also headed to Chattanooga Tennesse on October 1-2! We have camping available, so it may be worth making a weekend trip!
@@AdventureVanExpo somewhere in the Mid Atlantic would be great! I think it would be a great opportunity for some of the builders in the area to show off their styles as well.
Soft sided cabinets-it’s genius.
@@juniper617 now that the secret it out, everybody will be doing it!
@@AdventureVanExpo I would second a Mid-Atlantic option as well. Your Chattanooga show is scheduled really closely to Overland Expo East as well. Been to that one this year but would like to check out your show for '23 since we're leaning more towards the van option now. 😊👍
I would trade my Revel for this! Great job!
Thanks! We'll be here when you are ready to upgrade!
I don't see the link to price/features comparison chart mentioned. Could you please point me in the right direction? Thank you!
How does one service the batteries under the floor if needed? 🤔
ModVans response copy/pasted from another thread: "The entire conversion is modular. Everything can be removed for service then reinstalled. The battery is made of 120 cells that can be tested and replaced individually if necessary. The cells are expected to last 3,000 full charge/discharge cycles. That is 30 years of weekends."
That was my question too that kind of outside the box design needs lots of stress testing. I do like the idea I will be watching your conversations it’s beautiful
@@AdventureVanExpo I suspect those cells could last even longer, if they aren't constantly fully discharged/recharged.
@@AdventureVanExpo great answer - thanks!
@@thejackofalltravels8267we aren't Tesla or Rivian, but we did a full articulation test, a full off-road test, testing in snow, mud and rain, and now have over 10,000 miles of testing on both CV1/X and MH1/X in all types of weather conditions. The MH1/X in this video just completed a couple of laps around the US for shows where we used it for camping and demos at every show (don't put your dirty shoes on my bed please!!!). The MH1/X demo is just today getting back from a trip to SF Bay Area (a demo at the Stanford homecoming football game), but it won't be here long - we are showing it off to investors next Monday, then lending it out for more PR (a trip to 'Vegas), then another show in LA!
Can yall build a basic van for what I need and or want?
Oh my God they even got the bathroom right. Mine mine mine where can I get one...
Ditch the two back chairs, turn the front one around from base for dog bed. Yes on remove l in kitchen, make bigger fridge there.
Make my sewing area behind driver...
Oh in a cargo, no window van...
Only thing missing a small washer and dryer :)
I have some portable units on my list of interesting things to evaluate.
This is close to perfect. Wondering if a bed that pulls down manually to save space and larger fridge / freezer are possible options. A popup is not something I would use because of the ladder.
Camper vans have trade-offs. We experimented with an interesting fold-up bed design, but we decided to go with a permanent bed so you could have an extremely comfortable mattress, use standard queen size bedding, and the bed is always setup. If you want maximum storage space, you could remove the downstairs bed and only use the popup top bed. We have a floorplan option that allows "pass thru" to the garage and the fridge up front. A significantly larger fridge would block the windows and is not something we are planning at this time. We will eventually offer a version without the popup top, but it is not a priority at this time.
The battery setup looks kind of sketchy. It doesn’t look like there’s any thermal/runaway management for the packs and that’s a larger specific surface area for heat transfer. Just because you can physically do it doesn’t mean you should.
Laying the battery cells flat like this is great for thermal management. The largest side of every cell is exposed to a channel below the battery. There is a dedicated system that can push heated or cooled air through the channels. This isn't quite the level of Tesla where cells are exposed to liquid coolant, but air should work fine for an RV battery where the maximum current flow is much lower. Spreading out the batteries like this is also helpful in preventing a thermal "runaway". The smallest side of each cell is touching only one other cell on two sides, reducing the amount of heat that can pass between cells. We have done some thermal runaway testing on our design and this works in practice - a single burning cell does not catch the cells around it on fire.
In typical RV LiFePO batteries, the cells are packed as tightly as possible with the largest sides touching. This makes them difficult to heat (less area exposed to heating pads) and nearly impossible to cool the interior cells. This works *most* of the time for an RV battery because the cells are inside a temperature controlled vehicle and the low typical RV current draw, but it often does not work for high current applications (like running an A/C) or when temperatures get really hot (130F in AZ summers). You can see this in the groups where people with 10kwh RV batteries that shut down due to overheating.
This actually looks amazing! Question though. It looks from the video that this is built on the extended chassis which typically has a bug ass overhang (not good for my driveway). But also noticed it is NOT a dualy in the rear and AWD which I didn’t think was possible from ford. Please correct me 🤓
Yes, this is the extended chassis with single rear wheels. Our build is extremely lightweight (about 1,200 lbs vs. 3,700 lbs for a more typical conversion with the same features), so dual rear wheels are not needed (and also not desirable for off-road driving). The lift kit and larger tires generally solve departure angle problems with the extended length chassis. You can see some off-road footage in this video and the MH1 does great!
Way in the back of the van 😂
Hate cassette toilets. No blank tank option?
Will ModVan offer these on the new Transit Trail model that's coming out next year?
Yes, we are looking forward to the Transit Trail! However, you can get the same functionality now with some upgrades.
What is the height including the A/C? I have a carport beam to consider. Thank you. Great design! Also ground clearance as there is a ramp into the carport.
Driveway clearance is tough to estimate since you have to factor in height, approach and departure angles. Generally, a lift kit and larger tires helps a lot with the departure angle (but may cause problems for the carport beam by adding 4" to the overall height).
And how big is the gray water tank?
The gray water tank holds 17 gallons
With all those batteries whats the GVWR?
Our build is extremely lightweight (about 1,200 lbs vs. 3,700 lbs for a more typical conversion with the same features). A full 2160ah battery adds about 500lbs. The MH1/X shown in the video has some significant chassis and off-road options and weighs 8400 lbs with a full tank of gas.
Black water tank? Drains for black and gray?
It looks like it uses a cassette toilet, therefore no black tank.
@@deepsea5107 we offer cassette toilet, composting toilet or dry-flush toilet, but no black water tank option. We have a gray water tank for the sink and shower.
Shame you can’t export to Uk.
One day!
Not bad for $233,000.00
Too bad you went to EV propulsion.
It has a gas engine. The large battery system is to power the house equipment.
@@deepsea5107 correct! EV as soon as the chassis are ready, but we will continue to offer both options.
do you sell the soft bags for overhead storage? I tried finding them on your website and i do not see them for sale, if not can you recommend the ones you have in this video please, TY
These bags are made specifically for us and I'm sorry, but we do not sell parts separate from our RVs at this time. Soft sided storage lockers like this are going to be big for adventure vans (so much better than wood or metal overhead cabinets), so keep searching/watching for vendors to start selling them.
Can extra overhead storage be added
The whole layout sucks. My van is a typical RV manufacturer don’t purchase their vehicles.
Which manufacturer did you purchase from? Has it started falling apart yet?
