- The village of Herkimer just recently received a $10 million grant to improve the downtown Main Street corridor.
I walked up and down both sides of Main Street, recording all the way, looking in the windows of some of the failed businesses and never had a problem with anybody until I went to the Village office to ask about how they were going to appropriate the funds. That is when we ran into a couple talking shit and the village water employees who have a problem with me looking at our truck.
This was not meant to be a first amendment audit, so I removed the interaction with the water department, employees and listed that separately.

I moved here in 1967. The parking lot by the today tanning salon was a movie theater. That tanning spot was Marine Midland Bank & 1st ? Bank before that. Check that walk way. I remember the Learner shop, Vouge, Mungers, Jack's Jewelers, Woolworths, Montgomery Wards, Palmer House. Check out the walk through.😀👋💖👍🙏💖✝️✨

I think Herkimer has a leadership problem. The current administration leaves something to be desired.

Last election was a lose - lose for the town.
It was either elect the same mayor who let the town go into decay or elect a new who one who acts like her shit don't stink and is MIA alot of the time.

10 years ago many stores were open and this Village was booming,it went to hell fast.
As for the service dog or canine police officer go to our police department & see the dog you spoke of
you should visit inside the 260 north main st building, you said it might be a "nightmare inside"!, but it looks nice now! Lots of bad people was removed! Hallways painted, floors, it is cleaned often, smells good too!
Thank you for mentioning the Library I was surprised that it wasn't included in the DRI proposal.

Does not seem to have much of anything going on anywhere on that street. Just a lot of empty space.
You should come to Gloversville NY (just an hour from Herkimer going towards Albany) and do the same thing. Please. They got the same grant a few years ago, and main street looks worse than before they got the grant, and there are less businesses open. They announced on Facebook a lot of plans, as far as I can tell very few if any have actually come to fruition. I suspect a lot of the money has been laundered into corrupt city officials pockets, as they have nothing to show for it.

I was in that store Sam's deli & grocery almost every day. The one where you talked to the guy who said it had to but shutdown for a while 25:38 .
Loved the business and its staff but a lot of questionable characters go in there..
