Watch a full tutorial as a 2020 Volkswagen Passat will have a 12" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and amplifier installed. We will be using the stock radio and integrating it with a line-out converter providing signal to the amplifier without use of an aftermarket radio.

How’d it go man
Came back to say if you have a 2018 Passat you have to take the coin storage in the driver side out before you can take the obd panel out. There’s a screw that prevents it from coming out unless you take that storage off. It’s super easy too all you need to do is yank it off it clips on. ❤

Finally found a helpful video!! 2 questions: 1) when robbing power and ground for the line converter, does the amplified power on and off with the ignition? 2) do you know the left channel and right channel colors in a 2013 Passat?

Ok question when you ran the speaker wire across how exactly did you wire for speaker wires into one line out converter that’s what I’m confused on. How exactly did you do that?

What abouth if on bouth site is the same color
Are the rear speaker wire colors the same for a 2021 Jetta? I dont want to risk breaking any clips at the dash for a converter so id rather use rear speaker wires to tap
Okay so I did everything just the speaker wires were different colors all were correct except the passenger side purple wire. Mine was purple and white. After I connected it I turned everything on and the sub just had a beep sound

My 2018 Passat don’t have the same colors of wire. I don’t have these colors. Shall I go for the twisted pair?

For the love of God do not tap into random wires. The last thing you want to do is tap into airbag wires

Hey man I’m on the drivers side and I see yellow and red it pretty thick but it’s not twisted and the brown and yellow is really thin it’s for a 2017 Passat r line

Those wire diagrams are for VW Passat which already has a sound system like Fender. If your car doesn't have Fender, then you need wiring diagrams No 19/3 and 19/4. Left rear bass speaker cable colors are brown/white(-) and red/white(+) and the right rear bass speaker cable color are brown/lilac(-) and red/lilac(+). Note: This is for VW Passat with cell phone/telephone prep. I hope this also helps.
@@carlosgraphic I have a twisted Red/White and Brown/White on driver side on my 2013 Passat but they’re thicker than the rest of the wires. Do I tap those?

You shouldn't have to use both sides , if it's mono block
are you sure ?
Using 1 side will result in lower volume level, as well as 1 side of bass. Mono combines left and right channels into 1 so you get the full dimension of bass. I have personally tested this and 2 channels into a mono amp is the better option.
@@anothey93they are connected Internally. They put two outputs for easy set up .
That’s where I got confused when he wired to both sides and ran the one side across to the line out? That’s where he lost me. But very good other that that small important detail.
So you run the ground for remote turn on to the amp?

9:18 be careful, below that metal is the fuel tank and it is very close on that part.
Correct. There will be other bolts accessible in the trunk to use. Always are. No need to drill any new holes. He also said he used a nut and bolt but didn’t say anything about going under the car to attach the bolt. 🤷♂️
@@johnacarnduff The gas tank is mostly everywhere under the rear seat and a little on the trunk. I don't think he put down the tank just for a bolt.

This line out converter comes with a bass control know and so does my amp, should I connect it to the LOC or my amp?

I have a 2022 Jetta do I have to tear apart my dash? Or can i tap into the speakers like you did here?
You can tap into the rear speakers as long as your trim level provides a full range signal to your rear speakers (like ours did).

Hey bro. Where do you put power cable to your line output converter? Can I just use power from amp to connect to line output converter and then transfer it to amp so it has the power ?
He ran it from the amp power and ground to the converter, it’s in the video
No you can’t do that though he did. 🤷♂️ You need a fuse beside the amp to protect the line converter cable. 5A would be fine.
I have a 2021 Passat and am starting to design my stereo upgrade. I can not find a wiring diagram anywhere. Do you have a link to the factory radio (base radio, not fender upgrade) wiring diagram? my first step will be adding a LOC/DSP, amp, and front mids & tweets.
secondarily, is upgrading to an aftermarket head unit possible or is there a bunch of other functions tied to the factory radio making it a PITA?
i also have a 2021 but has the fender package.. can't find much on these cars so far.. i'm installing my subs right now, let me know sizes of the front and front deck speakers.. even with the fender mids and highs they sound blah

Where did you connect remote wire?
I believe to the remote terminal on the amplifier. Sound signal tells the converter to turn on the amp via the remote wire.
Does this car have rear deck speakers?
No it doesn’t

It will work for a B8 model. B8 first released in 2014 but maybe the was only in Europe.
Ok I have 2010 vw cc help me please took car to geek squad and car has not started ever since I’ve put three new batteries new starter as well as fuel pump and ,in hooked amp n dub car still not starting car got towed home from geek squad now I have to sue for damages please help what is the proper way for make n model VW cc 2010 turbo 2.0
Sounds like they tapped the ECM with a positive battery cable during install. If you are careless while connecting a fuse block under the hood it’s easy to do. Happens more often than you would expect. Look at the cars computer for any discoloration or marks.

@@andreajohnson7431 Sorry I just saw this question, the ECM is around $800 plus programming at the dealership. Make sure to have it properly diagnosed first. Should be about an hour of labor, $100-$150 is average at a VW dealership.
