AGREE all the way! Whose idea was it to have many of the Signature events, bookending Major Championships? Probably the same man who never took the LIV threat seriously, and allowed the fracturing of the PGA Tour - Mr. Monahan. The captain of the Titanic. He needs to go "for the good of the game" and to "grow the game" - two of his own favorite phrases.

The Masters has now become the best test at the highest level of the Majors. In these normal (to Professionals) level golf set ups, the best wins most often, but in other Majors there is a lot of adjustments that must be made, and there is more of a chance for luck to intervene. The US Open set up was really crazy, and Bryson truly deserves credit for what he did, and Rory should have, could have etc...but he also performed. In any normal conditions, Scottie is easily favored, and in difficult/crazy conditions I give him a slight edge.

Nope, Augusta national has become a novelty course. I don’t think it should be played every year. The setups lately have not produced the back nine drama. Many great holes, many bullshit holes like 6,8,9,14,17 and the weakest of all finishing holes. 2,7,10,16 I give the chef kiss. Bobby would have hate what they did to 11,13,15. • @oahujuniorgolfassociationc6656

    Deep crop of players ?
It is impossible for Scottie to do what Tiger did even if he wins 29 times because of the sad pga tour fields; especially these limited pga tour fields (who give their few exemptions to their favorite politician players).
The pga tour needs Scottie to lose. And lose often.
Let’s keep in mind the two guys taking the most money from ssg were not there (again).
I can’t remember: Was Scottie there when Rory won at quail hollow ?
Scottie is polarizing in the sense he is too boring for many fans.
    Xander going to LIv ?
The pga tour signature events were way better when they were full fields (albeit they still had some players that have gone to LIv sense). They way they are now is no bueno. I’m trying to watch them but am missing them for better sporting events and not feeling like I’m missing much.
    I made it to Halftime.

  • @jimiverson3085
    @jimiverson3085 Před 4 dny

Seems to me that the signature event designation doesn't mean anything special on its own. Event with their own cache - Tiger's, Arnie's, Jack's - have that specialness but the rest are just small-field Tour events that pay out a lot of money. And putting ones in both the week before and after the US Open was just an act of scheduling idiocy.
I'm not a LIV fan or follower, but it certainly seems like one way to get more "zing" in a tournament is to bring in some of the top LIV guys. Cut the number of signature back to the 3 associated with historical figures and invite guys like DeChambeau to those tournaments. But keep the asterisk and let Gooch go hang.

It’s honestly irrelevant golf is golf and the events don’t seem to matter to most quote golf fans. Liv resonates with the casuals because it’s a gong show party atmosphere but the level of golf and courses isn’t always great. The pga tour needs to stop giving a crap what casuals think of it and just go forward.

I’ve heard you guys a few times on Golf Today, but this is the first time I’ve watched your podcast. Great job. 👏🏾👍🏾 However, I kinda wonder if you will ever be pleased with any schedule that the Tour is able to develop. I think your requirements for a “home run” are unrealistic.
BTW, I missed your show following the U.S. OPEN, so I don’t know what you said about the results. I was crushed that Rory lost, and further saddened that DeChambeau won. From my long distance perch watching but never having met the man, he strikes me as being insincere and a phoney. It annoys me that most of the media seems not to recognize that, or feels it can’t say so publicly. I wonder what my man Eamon Lynch would say if asked, perhaps privately? I bet Eamon would call it straight.
Anyhow, now that I’ve watched once, I’ll be watching in the future. Keep on trucking.

Bryson, IMO, is not different than other elite golfers, and being a LIV player really showcases that he doesn't care what people think. He has continued to work hard, which I think is the exception on LIV, where laziness is rewarded handsomely. Bryson's youtube posts etc..have made him likeable. But he's only won 2 Majors, not 15 of them....the gushing is way overblown.
