Basic car builds are something that most people criticize. Basic car modifications like intake, tune, exhaust, wheels, are sometimes now not enough in the community and people are trying to get crazier and crazier to stand out from the crowd. But what if I told you that basic builds aren't just a necessary evil; but they're needed?
I could seriously go for some subs & follow right about meow, so see the links below:

Definitely less gate keeping! How are we to grow as a community if we aren't willing to share ideas and things we may have learned along the way.
gatekeeping is cancer
I'm not a fan of gatekeeping. The people who do the gatekeeping are usually a-holes. Nobody needs permission to enjoy their own car, anyway.
If the person is one of those “depressed” sad boy car guys in my opinion I don’t like them in the car community. But do what you want with your car
As a person just starting to mod/learning about cars, gatekeeping is real ass. I rent a spot in a garage where people are really helpfull but online i usually just dont talk about stuff since if i get something wrong you get the big shitstorm
I love OEM+ because you know its modified and other owners of the same car knows its modified but to everyone else, it's just a stock-ish car
Or mistaken for junk. Keeps it safe from thieves and surprises the unsuspecting peoples.
Oem+ is the way to go if it’s just a street car. But if you go OE+ the car has to be super clean good paint good all around fitment. The plus are the quality performance upgrades, and stance things like that. Maybe some interior upgrades. But at the end of the day it has to be street friendly and reliable. I love time attack cars with tons of aero but would I want to drive it daily 🤔 no way!
Most people probably just think it's some sort of special edition
Exactly, this comment hit the spot 💯
True! It almost commands a special type of attention where "if you know you know" and there's a lot of value to that.
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
OEM+ is the way to go with a daily. wheels, tires, some lowering springs, a tune and exhaust is perfect. Most cars are perfectly reliable at this point *cough* subie *cough*
hahahaha I love it.
That’s not OEM+, basic yeah. OEM+ would be wheels that mimic OE style with some pop, like BMWs with LMs, same with body panels in higher trim models like M sport/ M series bumpers, upgraded LED BMW style halos, m sport interior pieces, and quality performance mods such as bigger intercoolers, upgraded bovs and a lot more that keeps it looking like it was made by BMW
@@la7091 well I don’t really speak BMW, but I’m doing a mustang myself and it’s getting OE rep wheels, better tires, springs, amber deletes, tuned, headers/exhaust, and badge deleting or blacked out.
nah slam it
Why would you ever put lowering kit on a daily? You gotta love driving like a granny for fear of scraping the underside of the car
With so many of us getting older I think the OEM+ and restomod communities are going to grow massively; builds with a lower level of (or at least more subtle) mods, but done to a higher standard. These "simpler" cars can hopefully inspire the next gen to dip their toes into the community, and find their own innovative paths.
Completely agree. It'll be interesting to see what the next generation does to their cars vs. what we do. Oh god, are we getting old?
P.S. Thank you for the comment
Every style has its place honestly. From OEM+ to Track builds to Stance. All that matters is quality, hard work and effort is put into each one. It needs to be a reflection of the individual making the build.
Definitely agree. Just do it for you.
There’s a reason everyone buys the 86 (myself included). It just checks so many boxes. Good looking, coupe, 4seats,cheap insurance for a sports car, good mpg, very reliable (after 2013), tons of aftermarket, jdm, rwd, good chassis for every motorsport, cheap, still new so parts are cheap and available. Only thing it’s bad at is drag/roll racing lol
Completely agree. They really did nail the head on that car and the price point is dang near perfect lol.
P.S. Thank you for the comment and hopefully sub, it definitely means a lot!
I have a feeling we’re about to see some great builds coming soon. Thanks to people like Alex that make these videos and encouraging others to do the same. Exciting.
I got an 8th gen civic Si (Fg2) and love having 3-6 options for each car part from exhausts to body kits to even camshafts, and each of those mods are well developed to fit no issues at a decent price because of how popular the platform is. So honestly I love having a “basic” build car.
Variety is nice and overlooked. There's nothing worse than going with an offmeta build and realizing the difficulty of sourcing just 1-2 parts haha.
@@AlexMartini. exactly!
The E36 and E46 have given me an entrance into the car scene for a price I can afford. I’ve learned to wrench on em myself. I take em to BMW meets now and other cars and coffees. Yeah they are “basic” but I don’t want to be $45k in debt on a car; student loans are bad enough.
Don’t sacrifice the entirety of your life for cars, let cars allow you to experience things you wouldn’t be able to without them. I need to see your E36 sometime!
P.S. Thank you for the comment and hopefully sub, it definitely means a lot! P.S. Thank you for the comment and hopefully sub, it definitely means a lot!
E46 my first bmw and favorite
I would also like to point out that with some cars even a basic build makes it super unique. I have a 91 Camry and it has very little aftermarket support, so everything I do requires a lot of time and research to find what works. This also makes it feel more rewarding in the end because even though you just have basic mods, the car is super unique and might even be one of a kind.
You got it. Off-Meta builds are a blast if done right. Just need to do them right :)
P.S. Thank you for the comment
Well said Alex. The car scene has changed so much. You wouldn't see cars unless you went to meets before social media. And at that point it was hard to hate because you were able to put a human to the build. It was easy to appreciate the passion and creativity even if it was rice. I wish this new generation would appreciate the simple things and unique engineering of these machines and not just the looks and sounds. Cheers mate.
Cheers sir. Appreciate the thought here. I remember when the introduction of social media changed a TON of how the auto scene behaved. Crazy to think how long ago that was!
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
I'm a big fan of simple and elegant. Some of my favorite builds are where the mods aren't very flashy, but the owner put time and effort into making everything "just right". If you can mod a car, and make the mods look showroom stock, my hat's off to you!
Absolutely man!
P.S. Thanks for the comment and view my man. It means a lot. Hopefully you sub or if you did already, thank you!
Thank you for saying this. Gatekeeping has always been an issue in automotive communities and always will be. But people need to start somewhere.
Pick on em later when they know better :p hahaha.
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully sub. If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know!
A well done “basic” build beats overly built any day
Simple builds FTW! hahah. I think the basic everyday affordable fun daily builds make the extravagant, crazy, super custom, out of this world builds that much more enjoyable to look at! They both compliment each other in my opinion.
Agree. Sometimes you learn to appreciate more when there's less. Or when there's a lot, but because it's so focused and purposeful, it looks simple.
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
I just had fun with my build. There's modifications that some might consider tacky or cheap but I enjoyed it and that's all that matters. Build for you, don't build for anyone else. If someone has a style you don't like, don't put it on your car. Just show some respect for the passion that person has about their vehicle.
I dig that. 100%
My first two cars were the E30. The first one was a rust bucket A to B, but my second one was my OEM+ project. So far, its turbo'd, on coils, and rebuilt. It's brand new at this point lol. Love that platform.
Good luck on the build man!!
I'm more of a truck person but it applies to both communities but I believe that pretty much everyone first time is doing a basic build which gives you the confidence to do more and more and leads to the crazy builds. Everyone has to start somewhere
Exactly. I think you nailed it.
Thanks for the comment, and hopefully, sub!
The reason why e36/e46 and civics are so popular is because of how affordable they are. Especially here in Europe most people don’t have more than 5k for their first car so if they’re looking for something decent and cheap there options are quite slim.
Completely agree, but I do think they've lost a bit of their affordability but the price is maintained due to the hype. Just my thoughts on it though!
PS. Thanks for the comment and hopefully sub! I'm hoping to keep growing this channel and every comment count :)
OEM+ are the way to go for Basic Builds. They look a little better than the base stock model and still have good mileage since the engine is still stock.
I like it for the daily driver as well haha, makes it all a bit easier.
PS, thanks for the comment, it means a lot. If you haven’t yet, and you did enjoy the content, please don’t forget to sub :)
@@AlexMartini. Already did kind sir. Even on your IG. 😘
The EK and EG were great..But i was a an EJ fan myself, and what started my love for Honda (42 now and still own a Civic FA1) My first Honda was a bone stock more basic than a pumpkin spice latte carrying ugg boot girl, 1996 Civic DX coupe...But the thing was a BLAST, easy to work on and was a freakin tank. I love my Civics, and all the haters that come with them...
Hahah, Glad you still have it man and enjoy it! That’s all that matters at the end of the day :)
P.S. Truly, thank you for the comment and hopefully sub. New video drops today!
I'm about to be 40 and my first car was a bone stock 1997 Civic lx with a slush box lol it was a great car though easy on maintenance and gas
My first cars were - DA, EK, EK. I still get excited and hand out compliments on a “basic build” 92-2000 Honda.
There’s a guy around here with a Turbo’d EK and a CRX and they’re both just beautiful examples of Hondas done right.
What's done to your S2K?!
P.S. Thanks for the comment and hopefully; sub. Trying to get this thing moving as fast as possible so all the support is appreciated!
OEM+ builds are the backbone of the community. It’s like the PB&J of builds. It’s modified but not too expensive or intensive.
They also support the scene with actually the most money from all of us too. haha
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
I like that you shout out the e46, it’s my favorite car.
I love them as well! They're a great platform.
Second generation Suzuki Swift/Geo Metro in GTI spec were every where in mid to late 90s in Australia, some putting out crazy horsepower. Now, I'm lucky to see any except for one locally.
I love my OEM+ 5th gen Prelude. To most people it’s just a clean Honda, but those in the know how rare it is to see a Prelude general, not to mention a clean, stick shift, non-Frankenstein one. I simply put on the OEM style diffuser, side skirts, front lip, type SH shift knob, clean aftermarket head unit, lowered it down by 1”, threw in 6k white LEDs for the interior, head/fog/reverse lights, and a clean black paint job. Last thing to do is throw on some 17” bronze/gold wheels.
I need to see pics on this thing man!
@@AlexMartini. Been watching you guys for at least a year now & am thinking about ordering my wheel & tires next summer for you guys! Thanks for responding! I'm going to do my first wash (no wax) this weekend now that it's been 4 weeks since the paint job. I'll reply with a Reddit link with it here!
I strongly believe that the 2nd gen Mazda 3 sedan is an insanely good platform to start with. 5 speed manual, about 200 hp if you get the 2.5, and when modified they really transform into quite the looker
OEM+ to me is just the way for me, its like modifying my car the way I think should've came from factory.
I have an 08 Civic sedan and I have basic mods on it like wheels, tires, coilovers, and sway bars. And even though it may look basic for me it does the job and makes me happy.
I'm glad this video is coming out right around the time I'm working on mine, gives me hope
Hah-Hah!
I own both a '15 BRZ and a '99 E46! I use both as dailies. (additionally I have a Subie SUV for hauling stuff)
The E46 is just a plain jane 323i with the toasted OEM speakers replaced with aftermarket's and a Pioneer head unit. With no performance mods whatsoever, the Bavarian Money Waster is my quiet cruiser for relaxed drives.
The BRZ is built and yes, it's basic. I have an Open Flash tune, UEL catted header, a moderate cat-back exhaust, and Enkei RPF-1s with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s rubber. Other than a Perrin Gurney flap and Toyota 86 OEM mud flaps, I kept it stock looking. I did replace the cheap speakers, which makes the OEM head unit listenable.
Both cars are practical daily drivers, joys to drive, and easy to live with.
THat’s awesome hahahaha. THanks for the comment man, it means a lot!
Finally got around to watching this upload. I think I like this video the most rn for its digestible explanation of entry into car enthusiasm. That is me right now. Getting into it. Wish I still had an extra ten years of youth to fool around with it, but this helps.
Definitely appreciate it man I’ll keep trying to do things this way :)
99 Civic Si I bought myself at 20 yrs old and it will always have a place in my heart. 320whp my first turbo build. Good times.
Hola. Glad I found your channel. Always liked your stuff the best on fitment industries. Good luck with your new venture.
Hey, thanks! Hope you enjoyed. Be sure to sub and stay caught up with the new videos every Monday & Thursday :)
my bone stock sc300 sitting outside looking beautiful “this… does put a smile on my face”
My man!
As an owner of a 350Z, the "community" will flame you on line for having basic mods or even without a reason.
What I see is needed to agree with is "Your car, your money, your problem".
Personally, I love the idea of "FUNCTION OVER FORM". Of course I love looks, but personally, my choice is function 4 out of 5 times.
So yes, basic mods (not a cold air intake), are needed to start the journey and get involved with the machone itself.
Btw, I use to mock Civics all the time, BUT they are a statement of a reliable car. And there is no argument to that.
Great content! Always great to watch!🙌🏻
Thank you Hector, that means a lot! It means different things to different people but we're all just trying to have fun.
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
@@AlexMartini. Thanks to you for working so hard in your content. It is always fun to watch. 🙌🏻
Woot! That intro got me back on Naruto! Highly modified is highly troublesome. Used to want turbos until i had to find the vacuum leak. The days of jumping in, cranking up, letting oil reach the heads then driving get gone fast chasing horsepower. Known a few perfectly competent techs get in too deep on cars they still depended on. Until it's a toy just make it ride nice.
hahaah, the intro took me back as well man. Thanks for the comment and history, hopefully everything goes well with the rest of the build!
i watched your vids many years ago even when i didnt have money to get a car but i did understand the way to make a car look and feel good so after some years i got my hands on a good e36 as a first car 325i to be exact with a manual (learned driving manual in it) and i did lower it a bit and put on some apex arc 8s and i have a nice time driving it daily and beatin on it from time to time so yea its a fun car and a good looking one with good handling and it doesnt cost you an arm & leg .
Nice job and keep it up! You can still find some fun cars that aren't atrocious in price and I think that over time more people will appreciate that.
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! It definitely helps out and we've got a new video dropping today at 12pm CST!
love OEM+, throw some aftermarket headlights or taillights, lower it a little bit, new wheels or suspension and you got a nice looking vehicle
Same man! PS. New video just dropped go check it out!
I plan on making a basic build with my Volvo 960.
Lowered (NOT SLAMMED)
No tint
Same, OEM wheels
Yellow tinted headlights
A T6 with Polestar ECU tune up with 300+ hp
Basic. Cheap. Clean. Sleepy.
I love me a clean wagon. PS thanks for the comment and support, it means a lot
Gotta love Kwik Trip. But you’re damn right there’s almost always a FRS/BRZ/86 there 😂 people hate on em but I think they’re awesome. Hell, I would’ve gotten one had I not needed the added practicality a GTI gives me.
I don’t need the fastest thing in town. I just want something fun that looks cool. It’s gotta be able to get out of its own way, but that’s about it.
Basic builds are my favorite because they’re realistic. Crazy builds are cool and all, but I like to see builds that give me an idea for my own car. Something relatable.
Obtainable vs. dream. There's an appropriate level to look up, but it needs to be something tha tyou feel like you can actually get to and I love it. Your dreams and aspirations can either elevate you or suffocate you.
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! It definitely helps out and we've got a new video dropping today at 12pm CST!
@@AlexMartini. thought I was subbed. Is CZcams unsubbing people again? Either way I’m subbed now!
Word, Alex! I recently bought an E36 again, and loving it ever since. Almost done with my basic build haha
What’re you doing to it?!
Fitted an M package, mounted Airlift Performance struts with 3P and went for an 8.5x17/10x17 setup with wheels 🤩 and now wrapping the whole car with a flashy color haha.
@8:06 You tell em Alex! Civic gang for the dang win!
Civics deserve some love, okay?
thank you for increasing the value of my e36
ofc. What else is CZcams for?!
P.S. Thank you for the comment
I know a guy in my delivery route who has 2 FRS's. One modified basic, and one track build. They are both bad ass.
The FRS/BRZ/86 chassis is a good car all around - daily driver, track, stance, it can do it all!
We've got a new short dropping tomorrow so hopefully you subbed and let me know what you think!
@@AlexMartini. oh I definitely subbed. Used to watch you all the time on fitment. Glad you still got a platform. I'll check out the short for sure. Peace from the desert brother. ✌️🌵
I’m trying to restomod my crx si now. Updating the suspension parts and taking out the old d16a and putting a z6 in there. The goal is 150whp on the motor and I may throw a little giggle juice on there for sure he cool purge effects haha.
Got your channel in recommended, loved it till the last second. New viewer acquired :D
6th gen (97) Civic was my first car that I've got for around 400$. I didn't knew much about cars, only that this chasis was something I absolutely loved (from Forza, always driven EK9). Unfortunately, the guy misused the fact that I didn't knew anything, slapped a D16Y (VTEC) rocker cover on it and sold it to me as VTEC engine. In reality, it is the most basic D14 you can get. However that was over 2 years ago, the car is now in the process of being swapped with B20, and it will be my first proper hillclimb racecar, that'll fullfill my dream.
And as a "natural evolution", I've got 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Sport with NA 4G63, which is an absolute beast. I want to believe that I will keep it mostly stock, because it is a daily, but finding an Evo VIII turbo for 200$ that fits it really tempting..
On many meets, I always like that kind of cars that just looks basically stock, but have (not insane, just more powerful than stock/best variant) different internals. Seeing that white Mazda 3 MPS from afar, you might think it's all stock and nice. Except when you get closer, you start to notice that gigantic intercooler, 4" exhaust and like twice as many gauges inside. Upon popping the hood, there is around 25PSI of awesomness, and the car is as ready to do shopping on monday morning, as it is to absolutely trash the track.
Thank you so much for the support, it means a lot! Sounds like you have a very specific taste which is cool to hear. Do you have any links of your cars that I could take a peak at?! I would love to learn more about them.
P.S. Thanks for the comment and hopefully; sub! There's a new video dropping on Monday and I would love to get your thoughts :)
I like OEM+ because some of the products had a limited number produced. It's like your part of an exclusive club having those parts on your car.
Grew up in Tulsa where Quiktrip started. Agreed it is beautiful and every other gas station is inferior.
Thank you. I prefer Kwik Trip, but i'll accept it haha.
P.S. Thanks for the comment and hopefully; sub. Trying to get this thing moving as fast as possible so all the support is appreciated!
@@AlexMartini. wait, there are two???
Glad you gave the Civic and Hondas their flowers .... thanks 👍🏾🔰🏎️
Dude Alex I’ve wanted a OEM+ 90’s Honda literally for fuckin years man thanks for getting the word out for simple builds :)
The only problem I have is that here in PA finding a 90’s car that isn’t destroyed or rusted out is hard af
Finding a car anywhere right now is IMPOSSIBLE. Keep your ear to the ground and be patient.
You cover some amazing topics. I was skeptical to follow after leaving FI but turns out you are the whole reason FI was entertaining to watch.
I’d say OEM+ adds value. Like Miami upgrades on a skyline or mugen on a Honda. Just my opinion- also the pieces don’t lie 😆
that's fair!
P.S. Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! We just dropped a new video yesterday on the Type R so let me know what you think! :)
in the muscle car community we call those "Day 2" cars... & personally, those "basic builds" are my favorites... usually clean & simple... as opposed to the car that looks like it fell, in a drunken stupor, into the chrome 3m press on trinket aisle at pep boys... enjoying ur new vids man, thanx
I like this hahahaha. Good points all around!
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully sub. If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know!
My NA Miata is an oem+ build. All I’ve done is coilovers, wheels, tires, an exhaust, and an NB steering wheel. It’s pretty much perfect. Not much else I want to do at all.
Do you like how it performs so far?! Also, thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! New video on Thursday!
Been waiting for this for a while! Subbed for the awesome content🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you man that means a lot!!!
I like my Northstars, because you can get involved in such a deep repair on a very clean $1400 car and after spending $2000 in parts for a head gasket repair, you have a very clean $3400 car with good power and you would have learned a huge amount of skills that could be applied to a much bigger build in the future.
Plus, you can't really get rust-free anything in my state, but you can find Cadillacs with Northstars that just need engine work for cheap, without any of the extra rust.
That's fair. I don't often see people playing around with those platforms much anymore though so you're probably finding some good deals as well.
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! It definitely helps out and we've got a new video dropping today at 12pm CST!

Bro i got my e46 for $250 and it ran and drove fine with almost no body/chasis issues. Granted I've thrown pile of burning money at it since then to keep it on the road but regardless, It immediately became my favorite car ever.
I think the main issue is that people think they need to modify or add something to every square inch of a car to be unique or get praise from their peers. In my mind, there is way more taste and beauty in subtlety.
I have a Lexus ISF that's OEM+. Just wheels, coil overs, a nice sounding exhaust, and a TBL tune. Has enough power for me and it turns heads all the time.
I like this new actually "opiniated" Alex Martini. Agree or disagree, I appreciate when people aren't always trying to sit on the fence.
People need to hear this message. We need to encourage people into modifying cars and enjoying this hobby. Otherwise it's going to be out the door sooner than it already is! Couldn't agree with you more about the basic build people being the masses that fund all the companies with the crazy builds. Sometimes influencers need to look back at the audience and say thank you and appreciate what you got, because social media is pressuring people into chasing a dream which is unobtainable or not feasible. Not saying don't aim high just saying that if you don't love your life and what you got right now, before you get money, you won't be happy when you do get it. Fuck it, I'm getting off topic now.
hahah I appreciate the comment and the support man. You’ll see me start to discuss things that I believe are important to have an opinion on now and we’ll see how it goes!
P.S. Truly, thank you for the comment and hopefully sub. New video drops today!

the E46 M3 is an interesting case. When it was still in production everyone wanted it but it was expensive. A few years later as the new v8 E90 came out the classic E46 finally became accessible. People were modding them, trashing them - prices spiked right back to what they cost when they were new. Good luck finding a now mileage and unmolested example

I would have maybe included the Mazda 3. Around here I swear it is a right of passage for a 17-25 year old to own at least one during that time.
Nice content Alex!
Thanks man! Mazda 3's used to be popular around my area but have died off substantially in the past 5 years or so.
OEM-plus is great because it allows for personalization but doesn't make the car look dated in a decade or crush resale.
Exactly. It can also expand into a wider range of potential buyers.
P.S. Appreciate the comment sir and hopefully, sub! My next video drops today at 12PM CST :)
@@AlexMartini. No worries. It's a great channel, and yup on the sub.
I love my 95 EH9 Civic. Started out a bone stock, neglected pile of rickety bolts with the muffler chopped off. I've got some nice caps (not from autozone I promise!) some interior lights and I've been slowly fixing everything that comes up. I've got parts ready to go on it, but I'm taking my time because I want to enjoy every stage of this car. (Also this shi* is expensive!)
There's so much to have fun with that I don't think people even give a chance, whether it be because FWD or whatever it may be! People gotta stop hating, and trying so hard to be the best looking/fastest/loudest etc. Because all that stuff does is go full circle and make everyone fell like ass (friendly competition aside).
Respect to you bro for promoting positivity, thank you. I forgot to sub last video I watched, so here's mine+all my future likes. Love from the 503.
You bet man, thank you for all the love! I think people gotta open up their horizons more if they want to enjoy what the market truly has to offer. There's so much out there that you gotta try at least once!
I’d love you to continue the “so you want a ____” series, those were what brought me to you back in the FI days.
Congrats on your own journey by the way! Keep it up alex
I have a new series dropping in July I think you'll love then ;)
@@AlexMartini. if you’d do an Audi A5 series and PERHAPS promote the aero I’ve been working on 👀
As long as you love your build, that's all that matters. I have a 370Z and in that camp there are the stance guys, then there are the guys who boost the bejeezus out of them and take them to the track, the drift guys, etc. All of that is valid, but personally I'm more of a minimalist. With a good exhaust, intake mods, and a tune you can make respectable power while not having to worry about grenading your engine inside of 100,000 miles.
That’s totally fair and I completely agree. Just do what you want for you.
Ps thanks for the comment and hopefully a sub! If not, we’ll see you on Monday for the next upload :)
I would love to build my version of an SiR EM1 - it’s one of the first models I remember from the iSlands growing up. I see it as a better Si but not a typeR sort of an in between spec with typeR ⚙️ gearing 😊 it’s what I want as my first project build. See the project will commenced once I find that EM1 chassis 😅 👍🏿
I don’t mind the gatekeeping, because there’s no quality or love any more it’s for attention and it’s just not great. My favorite part about my e36 m3 is when people find out the radio and everything else works, and it’s full interior. Well modified everywhere
That's definitely fair and I agree with that!
to a point. But you need to be sure you're not going out of your way to try and shut people down. If you give criticism, do it as if you were receiving it yourself.
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! It definitely helps out and we've got a new video dropping today at 12pm CST!
Whats killing or hurting builds is the aftermarket with its Redick prices. Pure example front lip for Honda 100 bucks or less, front lip for a supra 1k. Definitely not 1k of material on the lip. They mark up the heck on prices like its adding value to car when it don't. Just look at the legend veilside 29-39k for actual bodykit for the mk5 supra. That more almost 3/4 of the price to buy a supra at the dealership or msrp for the the 2.0 model. Thats one reason the Honda has a strong community. Do not have to break an arm and leg to have the looks, power and the fun.
I think the Honda community has helped keep the prices down though, whereas other communities that have less of a voice because it's either smaller or they don't mind as much end up paying more for the same thing...
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
I aspire to do an OEM+ build on my E36 sedan. It's going to take some time but it will be worth it.
What’re the plans?!
My near stock '93 318i on 328i BBSs already turns a few heads with those who know what's going on. Might do a nice little exhaust, but that's it... for now
Lower it a bit and you'll be set!
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully, sub! It definitely helps out and we've got a new video dropping today at 12pm CST!
@@AlexMartini. That's a persuasive argument. I'll lower it a little.
That old senior guy that came into my life and taught me some cool things even when I didn't want to learn was my grandpa but that was before his stroke happened and now he can barely get around living his life. 😔🥺🙂😇🥰
@3:32 QT is cool for picking up snacks and drinks...... But Shell and Exxon gas always have given my cars the best performance.
There's some truth there.
Without even watching this video I'll comment and simple car builds have always been what I've been into. And I'm not talking sleeper builds I hate those tbh and I think it's unsafe in a way actually. But yeah a clean virgin body, maybe a front lip or rear lip spoiler, wheels, suspension, and engine mods. But nothing over the top like overly excessive camber type stuff
I just sometimes think it’s easier to hit on the head vs. going wild and ending up making it look a bit too much the like an x-wing; ya know?
dang i came late to the show, I agree basic builds aren't bad at all. i feel like it would let new beginners to feel more comfortable in building cars cause if they keep seeing advance build you as a beginner might feel intimidated. idk, that's my cup of tea there.
Appreciate the comment
As long as you're building and modifying to your taste, you're good. Remember that it's your car and not their's!
Easy to say and hard to do for some people!
PS, thanks for the comment and hopefully sub, it means a lot! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me touch on next!
I'll just forever love my sedán Civic eg7 🛣
Dude, never give it up and never let it go!
You forgot the VW beetle. That was cheap to modify, cheap to maintain, had tons of aftermarket support, and so many different variations that you can build it to. From a beach bug to a Baja bug to a slammed cruiser. Plus VW built like 25 million VW beetles
Very true. I'll need to make another video sometime soon!
I can appreciate a basic build, but if I see one more FRS with a rocket bunny body kit on it, I'm going to lose my mind. No disrespect to that car, or that kit. I love the FRS/BRZ/86, but I've seen that set up so many times now that it's driving me nuts. That being said, basic builds definitely deserve more love for sure.
I keep my frs basically oem for a reason. Too many are getting hacked up... It's got an Injen intake (metal enclosure) and Injen exhaust (titanium tips) and that's it... those mods were from the previous owner and I just didn't revert to oem because it sounds and works fine.
@@RenegadeRukus OEM+ is refreshing to me lately. If I were to buy an FRS I'd probably get an ings+1 front bumper, some new wheels, and maybe a change the headers. I'd keep everything to revert it back, and call it a day. Not everything needs to be wide-bodied all the time.
I love stock bodies
The E46 will either teach you to love cars and the engineering that goes into them, or straight up hated them. My first car is a sedan E46, that’s something you will want in a first car, repairs are of the first order, but this will teach you to work on cars, very few things are hard in this car, it already comes with somewhat big power from the factory, 225hp and 220 tq (I have a 330i) so no need to do mods until you learn how to drive it properly. Don’t be the guy that goes from stock Civics and Camrys to buying a Hellcat, learn how to use that beater first them move up in leagues, you will loose all respect from people who actually work on their cars if you just go buy something big and take it to the mechanic without struggling first.
There’s always a little bit of pain that’s needed to ensure you earn your stripes before going to the big power haha. I love it though and agree! Take your time.
PS. Thanks for the comment, it means a lot. Hopefully you’re subbed or can sub to keep us moving forward :)
Brakes, tires and suspension did me more wonders than power mods
Typically will! I love things that help you enjoy all the car if you can. It makes it way more fun.
P.S. Thank you for the comment
I use to go to QT all the time when I lived in Oklahoma but the closest one here is in AZ T_T My 1st build was a 5G Civic then S13 but never got into the BMWs Ha. Basic build are always great especially in Cali. Stay under the radar of CHP =P Regardless, having too much power on the road where you can't even use it is pointless IMO. Keep up the great vids! Ha
Appreciate it man! What do you like the most now?!
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully sub. If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know!
@@AlexMartini.I enjoy videos like these. Just expressing your thoughts on the car scene while still explaining how it's evolving (Good or bad) I actually like seeing people not reviewing and building cars but actually drive them at a track. Maybe share more info about your old 3000GT and if you actually have pictures and maybe show if you had your knowledge today, what route would you have gone =P ha
Spot on 👌
Ayyy what's up my fellow car peeps
Oem + ftw
Let's get it!!!
There are a good amount of integras where I am I want one so bad
Thanks Alex. I am in my 40s and don't give a F about super high horsepower builds or exotics. I love my basic builds. I do have a soft spot for folks that are not afraid to bust out an angle grinder too though. I don't really care about the purity of these old nuggets as some do.
What's your favorite classic?!
P.S. Thanks for the comment and hopefully; sub. Trying to get this thing moving as fast as possible so all the support is appreciated!
That Obsess shirt is clean!
Actually caught it on time today 🕺🏽
Let's goo!!!
PS Thanks for the comment and hopefully sub. If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know!
@@AlexMartini. honestly I'd like to Know the mods you Did on some of your cars the R8 and Ferrari even the old Dutsun you had
Please do a video about carbon in the auto industry. I feel like I rarely hear about it. The whole “wet” vs “dry” carbon, and the brands that put a thin layer of carbon over some FRP. There’s been stories about people buying “wet” carbon hoods and they end up weighing the same (or sometimes more) than the OEM aluminum hood. Couple that with the carbon maker using cheap clearcoat that fades in two years and bad fitment, it’s wild people are spending 1k plus on hoods just to look cool
I'll add it to the list sir!
BRZ entry level? Maybe in the US. We've got E30s and E36s.
Yeah in the US. :/
love your videos ❤❤❤
And I love you
I've always been a fan of OE+. As a broke dude in his 20s, it gives enthusiasts like myself the opportunity to get into modifying cars without super heavy commitment.
My 1st and only car for a long time was (& still is) a w204 mercedes-benz c300. It's on coilovers and some wider 18in wheels. It's modified enough to be fun without leaving me stranded on a canyon run.
Moving forward, I bought a project e36 with ~200k miles for 1800$ about a week ago and plan on turning it into a driftyboi. Without understanding my basic mods on my first car, I don't think I would've had any direction on this.
Great video as always!
Thank you sir and thanks for sharing! Good luck on your W204! Hope to see you get a W211 someday with some POWA
For my ep3 si im just trying to get it looking like a stock type r. no upbaging clownery though.
