Cars & Bids is like the buy here, pay here version of Bring A Trailer. But it's not just the Carfax history. It's everything. The sellers act like shady used car salesmen. Sometimes they get caught, sometimes they get away with it. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

AND HELL'S CUMMING WITH ME
@CollectorCarFeed damn straight
Anyone who leaves a EU plate under a US plate is automatically in the pretentious douchebag zone for me.
It‘s like people who leave the original US number plates on their imported corvettes, but way less cooler.
@@florianlassnig9769 Wait, are you telling me that people who import Corvettes to Europe keep the US plates underneath them?
@@dmacarthur5356 no, but some people import muscle cars and leave the original plates on them. they don’t cover them up actually. it‘s some kind of aesthetic thing in the us car scene
@@florianlassnig9769 I can see using Japanese, German, US, etc plates for shows or something or time specific plates for collector grade. I was specifically commenting on that white BMW. I see it a lot around here in DC because of all the military and government employees and it always seemed like such a desperate move for attention. Like when you drive people are supposed to be like "OMG, that guy lived in Europe, he must be soooo effing cool and way better than us shit munchers"
Rightfully so
One red flag when buying is when the seller doesn't mention anything wrong with it. When I bought my Abarth I knew everything wrong with. Owner pointed out paint chips, plastic fade , seat wear, and everything that needed to be changed which was mirror cover from rock chip. So It was chill Coming out with car.
I bought an Abarth from a dealer sight unseen and had it shipped, if the price weren't right and if I wasn't a reasonably capable home mechanic I'd be up a creek. "No issues" my ass.
Always assume the worst unless they're immediately up front about what the issues are.
absolutely this. a real car person will know every single flaw, quirk, and hiccup with their car.
This is so true. I bought a 83 camaro on BAT. They didn't mention anything wrong with it and said it ran like a dream. It needed a fuel filter, but if I was an absolute idiot I would have thought I bought a complete lemon and said the transmission is screwed.
If the seller does not list issues and its a 40 year old car, it's better to walk if you don't know how to turn a wrench!
First mistake was buying an Abarth 💀
@@WeAreCheckingbought my abarth from Carvana (I’m stupid) 4 months later I had my entire cooling system fail basically and had to drop 5k into it 💀

“I wanna be different” and “rpf1s” can’t go in the same sentence

It absolutely can because you can count on one hand the number of rpf1s on a pontiac vibe.
The problem is that rpf1s look good on nearly everything

I recently sold a rotted out Outback on Facebook marketplace that was very clearly sold as a parts car. Ad had everything listed that was wrong with it, I checked off "for parts" on the title and registration, everything. Scumbag bought it for $700 (cool, more than any scrapyard would give for it) said he was going to pull the engine. Then he blocked me on facebook and relisted it within 24 hours for $3400. The thing was a rotted out deathtrap that would take weeks of work sourcing parts, welding, etc. I found out because he didn't block my wife.
Tried warning the town and local area through community pages about what happened and detailed everything wrong with it, I was insulted, brigaded, harassed, you name it saying I was the bad guy, I was just jealous he was flipping it, "just let him make his quick buck".
That car can and will strand someone somewhere at best, kill them at worst, and I saw the real face of my community through those facebook posts. Deleted my facebook and I fking hate buying and selling used cars through auction sites, marketplace, and craigslist now. SO many subhuman trash a-holes that have killed my faith in humanity.
Thank you for your comment. It seems there’s more crummy people out for themselves than good folks doesn’t it? I’m 31 and on car 11. Last one lasted a while even though it was a turd I wasn’t scammed 😢 I’m learning that trust is just a manipulation and not an actual thing. You don’t trust me? Why not? …probably because of what’s about to happen scammer 😂
This won't work 100% of the time but the last time I sold a car I stated in the listing that I lost the title (lying btw) and that the buyer can meet me at a Licensing office to transfer ownership. This made a lot of blatant flippers or title jumpers angry lmao.
Why didn't you just scrap it?

When I got mine it burned a quart every 50 miles. The ZZ series of engines are terrible in terms of reliability.
@@Zero4Champ what does that come out to ? 20-1 fuel oil mix ?
@@RabidLemurs how long would it last on rc nitro?
My wife's Fiat 500 Turbo used to drink a quart of synthetic every week or 10 days if driven regularly. I finally convinced her to get rid of it, and we had to beg the Mazda dealer and threaten to walk away from a purchase if they wouldn't give us $2K for it. They really didn't want to pay a penny over $1.5K. 5 speed and really well otherwise.
I imagine auction sites are full of people who are trying to ride the 'Rona price wave and got way over-leveraged in their "investments". Got caught up in the price surge and thought they were only gonna go up because they had to work their ass off to get the car (due to shortages etc). Now that prices and demand have stabilized a bit, they're left with a 50k car on their 60k salary and they can't financially afford a 10k loss in value. They're going to be scumbags when they can't get the price they want because they literally cannot afford the loss. Specifically thinking of that Supra, but it could apply to most of these.
Don't invest in cars, ever.
Who are you quoting?
Investing in cars is fine but you have to do it right. (I dont have it in me, I'd rather drive it than flip it if I'm going to go through the trouble of buying) For instance, Japanese almost anything would have been a good example. Back in the 2010s, 300zx were easy to find for less than 5. Now 10 is what gets you a driver. For something more expensive, 90s NSXs used to go for 30-40. Now they're 70-80.
@@sprolyborn2554 you're not wrong, but bear in mind that the price of used 90s cars jumped hugely because of the pandemmy, a (hopefully) once in a lifetime occurrence.
Also, even with a near doubling in value, if you spent $1,500/year in maintenance and insurance, that's $15,000 spent on keeping your "investment" protected and maintained over 10 years. In your 300zx example, you would still end up losing money, even though the value of the car has doubled.
Cars are not good investments, as just about anyone who invested in a car will tell you.
@@Midnightrider384 I would've put my money on that it lines up with when the people that were kids when the 90s cars were what you would see on a bedroom poster got old enough and established enough to actually buy these cars. They're in their 30s, early 40s now.

I bought my LX on cars and bids. The seller removed the thermostat to hide a bad radiator. 2 cat converters, and alternator, and multiple sensors later, I’m in an 8K car for 14K 😂
Those sound like quirks and features
lol I too bought an LX from Cars & Bids as well. Immediately after picking it up there was a bunch of obvious to see in person undisclosed paint work. Then the same week had more than $4k in repairs. Not surprised due to the mileage, but did feel that the seller was aware of the unlisted cosmetic and mechanical issues. I’d still buy from Cars & Bids but be much more cautious about the sellers representation.
@@NEONPARADlSE Got to be cautious buying anything from anywhere tbh. I like to watch home inspection videos and the corner cutting / hiding faults rather than fixing them is bad there as well, even for new construction.

I never got the appeal of Doug. Looks like he created the fancy Facebook marketplace for cars. Just another example of why you can't trust anything a CZcamsr pushes on their channel. .
His videos used to be super fun. He had a really cool review style where he'd go over the quirks and features of every car, it was super entertaining. But then he became rich when some investors bought a $37 million stake in C&B. The fame and money got to his head and now he runs his entire channel like a for-profit business.
The only thing that really annoys me about Doug is that he doesn't know what the word quirk means." "Wow this car from 1973 has 5 ashtrays and 3 cigarette lighters, what an odd quirk!"
It's like offer up. Then every9ne and their mother came out with a car auction website. There's even a Client Collection company that can get you ANY car. They took the Jesko that was on a car auction website and closed the auction, car disappeared and then the company posted that the Jesko sold. Kinda crazy these days
got so lucky buying my s2000 from bring a trailer. Owner was straight forward with it and car has been flawless with me since purchase. Hoping my next purchase on these sites go equally smooth, but seeing people get scammed on these sites just sucks.

My dad passed down a lot of lessons from his father, but among the ones that stick is: "Never own a convertible car. Rent someone else's when there's nice weather." Somehow the conclusion of this advice was a DeLorean in the driveway. It was eventually replaced with a Taurus SHO. The Taurus was a massive upgrade. Plus it had a moonroof.

I cannot recommend getting into 2zz's. The engine is mad fun, but the transmission is too weak and hard to find today. If your transmission loses a gear (or two like mine) you're looking at about $2000 or above for the C60 (6spd). Also the cars need a LSD so badly it hurts but that costs about $1000 for a new aftermarket LSD. But... it is a total hoot and I can't get enough of my Matrix XRS.
Oh also Vibe and Matrix are not the exact same car lol. AC, ECU, fuel system... pretty much any electronic system is separate between the cars. Only the Vibes have regular electrical failures :^)
this is what ive been saying, i have a k24a2 6 speed swapped ep3 with lsd, hondata, a bunch of mods. im still under 4 grand into it and i take it to 8k literally everyday. ive had a gts and an xrs. ive worked on so many 2zzs, swapped mr2s. but i almost find it pointless when the comparable counterpart made by honda can be found at the junkyard for pennies.
My XRS had a fun timing cover leak that requires engine removal (for starters) to change the gasket. Not worth the massive effort to change a $25 part.
@gatofeo2661 that shit pissed me off when that dude said that. Then he goes and says the FRS and BRZ aren't the same they have different suspension 🙃 lmao

CCF should have made a contest out of this.. call it the PULL OUT GAME (Or Challenge).
HOST: Feed to host (coz he couldn't pull out and bust 5 quarts all over that MR2 that had a body count of 11)

Reserve- guess the difference between reserve & bid.

I'm not 100% on the rules but "PULL OUT GAME" is an incredibly good name for a series
My friend saw someone say "if you ask what's wrong with it, ask if it runs, or ask for less than $1000, I will just agree and give you a fake address to come to" while selling a 2006 Mazda CX-9 for $1000. Good luck selling that piece of shit and getting reported!

my favorite part of this video is the white truck that you can see in the "Auctions Ending Soon" in the bottom right, that was ALSO cancelled that day. Due to title issues
The black spraypaint cap next to the painted undercarriage is crazy
Matrix and Vibe have lots of parts that are not compatible. Computers, hvac, and interior parts are GM on the Vibe. You are flat wrong when you say they're the exact same car. I was a Toyota parts person for 4 years.

I love the platform, get a 2zz for 10 grand less than a Celica GTS in a way more practical package for a daily. Think I'll keep mine for as long as it runs.
Where do gts celicas go for 10k. I've seen 6k at most. I paid 3k for mine.

Oh my God, I had to stop and laugh at that spray can top and paint covered driveway still in frame
It's as dumb as answering the cops at your door with fresh crack cooking on the stove.
You're actually incorrect about the Vibe vs Matrix. GM did actually switch out some parts for their own such as the a/c compressor and alternators.
Verts make for an amazing driving experience. Claiming an E92 M3 vert is worthless after discussing purchasing a broken MR2 should be embarrassing.
I have an '07 Vibe that I put bronze Sparco DAKAR 17" wheels on, a low profile roof rack and some Rally-Armor mud flaps, and honestly as slow and goofy as the little "Sport Wagon" is it gets more compliments and thumbs up than any other car I've ever owned. I don’t understand why auction sites have so much popularity tbh. Like unless it’s some rare spec or low production car why would you want to buy something where you can’t inspect it and you have to guess at the possible imperfections.
I had my 03 Matrix XRS for 10 years. Got it new. Burned no oil and it ran tf out of it
So I've spent the last 3 years doing as much of the PM I could afford on my 97 e36, and glad to hear the praise for 30mpg highway cuz I'm FINALLY pullin just about that. I can't wait to rebuild the vanos and see if I can't get that up to 32
Need a roast of net gear and the roast of Feed
I was thinking about getting a matrix xrs/vibe gt. I changed my mind as there was a) nothing in my area, and I wasn't comfortable buying sight unseen. And b) I was kinda disappointed as to what there was for aftermarket stuff (there's like one company and I found them a bit expensive.)
Only thing I remember from my research into them is something about the bolt that activates the vvlt-i has a tendency to break. Not a catastrophic failure, but something to pay attention to.
That MR2 rules, Feed is a genius, and buying one with a motor you have to swap is IDEAL.
If you want to keep it simple and give yourself the IDEAL experience, drop in a 2ZZ man. You'll have a budget Lotus Elise.
Even though I have an auto Celica with it (I KNOW I KNOW) I freakin' love that engine. It's just a ton of fun and so involving.
MR2’s will do that to ya. I’m about 10k in on a $2k MR2 3 years later lol.
2:55 - Okay, I had a black '06 Vibe GT before I got my GTI; it was a great little car. it wasn't "fast," but I had so much fun scooting around in that thing. I had a "cold" air intake and replaced the muffler with a cherrybomb glasspack resonator. it was very fun.
No real issues other than a clutch job once.
CCF got scammed off cars and bids? I thought it would be netgear getting bent over and scammed
He scammed himself during the Baja build
7:50 according to the wiki, they actually have different A/C compressors and heater cores, and correspondingly different lines for each. I don't have the parts or numbers in my hand, but next time I get the urge to open a dozen tabs (burned that tonight trying to find a GT model near me and in reasonable condition) i guess I'll have to look it up
The 05 Vibe GT looks a bit like an Aztek. Not in a good way, in case that wasn’t clear. (There is no good way to look like an Asstek!)
In other news, Cars and Bids wouldn’t list my Subaru SVX, which was in excellent mechanical condition. I sold it privately, and the guy flew in and drove it home to another state without issue. No idea what C&B issue was - they said the mileage was too high, but it had 115k miles, and have seen TONS of much higher mileage cars on that site.
Brooo what am I watching !
You guys should see the Yugo that Jameskii bought off of dougs and bids, thing waa claimed to have been already restored, it was anything but.
One thing that drives me nuts about Cars and Bids is pretending to be a platform for enthusiasts to buy and sell used cars when a significant amount of listings are brand new. That would be bad enough, but he allows these flippers to list with a reserve. All that does is screw enthusiasts out of new cars at MSRP. At least make these flippers go no-reserve so there is skin in the game if they want to drive up prices in enthusiast cars. Doug could care less about the enthusiasts imo…sad.

C&B wouldn't accept to list my pretty rare low mileage, mint condition, 2007 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart. However they will list a stupid ass BR-Z, oh, and let's not forget about that Lordstown truck which is essentially a paperweight.
Been dying to own a Galant, where do you typically go to sell them? I checked worldwide on a site that checks other sites and I found like 3 with 1 in Finland, 1 in Estonia being a non runner, and the last 1 being in fucking Brazil.
I rejected Cars & Bids as they would not put a reserve on my car. Sold it privately (via Craigslist) for asking price. Same deal with Bring A Trailer. I have several other collectible cars to sell, but will never use any of those sites.
