    8:43 For those who are curious, 'Howard Stevens' isn't a real person, that is actually the show's executive producer and DiC CEO Andy Heyward.

    5:25 Super Van City was one of my favorite Christmas presents. My parents let me open it Christmas Eve. My grandpa and I put it together and applied the decals. I even got an extra large piece of posterboard, painted mountains, roads and parks and would set the van in the middle of it to make it this huge landscape. Fun times... I could keep myself entertained for hours with just micro machines and legos.

    I miss the Family Channel. I remember watching Masters of the Maze and the Donkey Kong Country cartoon on there. Also, that Super Nintendo commercial has been cemented into my head for over twenty years; it's so iconic!

      In case you referring to the "Donkey Kong Country cartoon" usually broadcast by the "channel" when it was usually promoted as the FOX Family Channel, I do not believe it ever had it before then.

    I remember this era of the Family Channel. They always seemed to have Nickelodeon's hand me downs, as well as shows other networks rejected.

    The Family Channel-before it became Fox Family,then ABC Family then Freeform
    Looney Tunes games-only interesting one was Taz-Mania IMO

      and before it was The Family Channel, it was the CBN Cable Network
      I enjoyed the classics on the network and now, as Marc Summers would say, it's gone to the crapper
      Pat Robertson got too greedy, IMO

  • @DanZero77
    @DanZero77 Před 7 lety +3

    I used to watch FamTV! (hey!) At one time it was also branded FUN TOWN.
    As far as the Sunsoft Looney Tunes games went, the best ones were Taz-Mania and Bugs Bunny.
    I just commented on an earlier volume that had the Game Genie Mortal Kombat codes. I got the SNES GG and the MK game for Christmas. The "exclusive" codes were nothing more than a sheet of paper with 4 kinda "meh" codes.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před 6 lety +2

      I don't know what "every mario cartoon show" means. Do you mean the later SM3/SMW seasons from NBC? These are from the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" and as far as I know that's all that they played.

    God, the Family Channel was one of the worst networks back in the day, showing just some of the most wretched examples in programming. I am reminded of the classic episode of Rocko's Modern Life "Wacky Deli", where the main characters are angry at each other while trying to make a cartoon, and at one point, one of the characters says "Your cartoons aren't funny enough to be on the Family Channel"!

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před 7 lety +9

      Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff were legitimately good shows. I can't say the same about the rest of the lineup, but I would have watched Mario back in the day if I had known it was on there.

    • @mvangord1
      @mvangord1 Před 7 lety +2

      By the time it was mercifully euthanized in favor of the Fox Family Channel the lineup was pretty much entirely westerns. Sure the relaunch was pretty much a poor attempt at being an American YTV but still it was better than these doldrums (plus it had Pee-Wee's Playhouse).

    • @JosephASobora
      @JosephASobora Před 7 lety +5

      "The Family Channel" (Originally, CBN) was a decent family cable network, that had at least, some reruns of good shows. "Fox Family" on the other hand, was a whole lot better! That is until Disney ruined them by changing its name to "ABC Family" (which is now "Freeform", a dumb name BTW!) and had nothing but forgettable teen-oriented shows. Although they did had the "Jetix" block, some ABC programming from the 80s and 90s and movies. And of course, they still had CBN with these boring religious programming like "The 700 Club" with that crooked Pat Robertson!

    • @Sobernic1982
      @Sobernic1982 Před 7 lety +2

      Aside from Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget and the Super Mario Super Show....I'd have to agree. Nickelodeon, Disney Afternoon and Fox Kids was waaaaay better!
