Switching to a minor key with that walking bassline was absolutely gripping. I had it on repeat for a couple hours. Thank you. I had a near life experience. Lol. It is a solid classic; Have you considered an extended sequel? Like Floyd or Beatles used to do? Idk. I really loved it and thought of adding a brass section to the bass and a bit of fading crescendo oboe and strings section the to 'yore' part. No critique. I absolutely love it, as is. I could just listen to it for a long time and filling it out is always a fun thing to do to songs that feel that way. Anyway, congratulations on the cool tune and best of luck to you. I hope everyone gets a chance to hear you perform. ✌
the original lyrics and the darkened tone makes this typically happy song so much more somber. Almost like a post-apocalypse Christmas where people are slowly dying left and right and everyone's trying to stay cheerful for the holidays. But it's very difficult to. All they have is the past memories before the world got dark

i prefer this version over every version i’ve heard because the somber tone is so indicative of a song written in the middle of WWII it feels so real and honest

This song could've predicted the future about the pandemic a year before it started.
the atmosphere makes it sound apocalyptic. As if everyones already gone and youre the last person in the world, just singing to yourself on christmas.
I'm not Christian/don't celebrate Christmas but this is my favorite Christmas song. I first actually heard it when I was working on a play set in the 1940s and the meaning was so relevant to my experiences of winter breaks

The original lyrics beautifully juxtapose how we go the whole year never truly enjoying the time we have with the ones we love until Christmas comes around and suddenly we are more inclined to savor the moment that Christmas brings.
I lost my nephew this year on august 14th he was only 4 months old but i miss him so much, this Christmas is gonna be so hard for me and my family because this was supposed to be his first Christmas… thank you for making this video. Merry Christmas everyone

This makes me think of being an elderly person and being lonely at Christmas, with all my relatives and friends dead and im walking a long a street and looking at the different places, where I once had fun with my friends and family over the years at Christmas when they were still alive.

I don't think of this song as depressing but self reflective and enlightening. An adult telling their younger self to enjoy being a child. The adult reflecting on their childhood memories. Celebrating Christmas in honor of the ones who've passed on and the ones who didn't stay around long enough to celebrate Christmas with them. (friends and romantic/sexual relationships)

These are the original lyrics, the lyrics Judy Garland sung in the movie were altered because they were too dark for the film. She actually refused to sing them because during the time the movie was being filmed it was war time.

Well these are the original lyrics. The original lady who sung it refused to sing this version because she thought people would claim she ruined Christmas so they changed it to the lyrics we know now.
