    Neil Gaiman is the type of person where you can sit down and just listen to him speak all day. So much wisdom behind his eyes, and his passion really bleeds out when he speaks about it. He's a true master of his craft.

    Tolkein was not about downplaying the evil in the world and showed that in his books and showed how important doing the right thing is and how hard it is - such important writing

    Reading Tolkien with story structure in mind is what finally made it all click for me. I *got* how stories work

    I love Neil Gaiman and J.R.R. Tolkien. and it's great to see how deeply art can touch a person. plus, it is funny to see how strong your emotions are (even if I feel the same way). funny is funny.

    It's really fun to see you take such joy in learning from others. You are already awesome. If you keep this up and apply what you have learned, you will be on the other side of that screen in 10 or 20 years.

    "I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama." - Tolkien

    There’s this quote by Samuel Johnson that’s kind of what you were saying: “A writer only begins a book. A reader finishes it.” 💖 This is so inspirational. Love when famous writers stan other famous writers!

    Good morning, Sara. I enjoyed watching this video but seeing you tear up was adorable while listening to Neil Gaiman give advice based on J.R.R Tolkien and his stories. Thank you for posting and sharing this video with us. Have a wonderful day and happy writing or editing. ❤I also wanted to ask what you fear the most like bugs, or heights, or thunderstorms, or what? I also used your first name for one of my characters, if that's okay?

    • @SaraLubratt
      @SaraLubratt  Před rokem +1

      None of the above. Sara’s a super common name, of course you can use it :)

    Sara, your channel and videos are solid - a fantastic start. If I can provide a thought; a small lavalier mic goes a long way for audio, and shortening your videos by nearly half as you build your channel is excruciating, but I know it would help tremendously. I have a small channel (not this one) and those tips helped me. Just my two cents.

    • @SaraLubratt
      @SaraLubratt  Před 11 měsíci

      I recently added a mic to my videos (about two videos ago) :). And the videos on my channel with the most views are really quite long so I'm still experimenting with video length and trying to figure out what's best for this channel. Thanks for the advice!

    Has there ever been two friends that have created such far reaching stories, Tolkien and Lewis?

    • @SaraLubratt
      @SaraLubratt  Před rokem

      Spielberg and George Lucas did pretty well. Were Lewis and Tolkien friends?

    • @matthewmusgrave6673
      @matthewmusgrave6673 Před rokem

      @I am me • 25y ago Tolkien didn't like the first few chapters of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe when it was first introduced in their book club, the Inklings, but it was because he thought it was creepy that Lewis was starting a book where a little girl is lured and kidnapped, and Tolkien had daughters. Once the whole series was published he said the Narnia books were worthy of the praise they were getting. Lewis was a big influence in Tolkien finishing The Hobbit.
