    RIP, Lance Reddick, the concierge from the John Wick movies passed away Friday morning at age 60.
    When they premiered the movie, John Wick 4, in London, the director said that "this movie is for our friend and brother Lance Reddick. We love you, we miss you, man." The audience got up and applauded. I saw a video on Twitter.

    The dog wasn't just a pet it was supposed to represent John having a normal life, but when they killed the dog, they took away his one chance of happiness.
    Back in the early 2000's the character was written to be much older and that actors Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood and Paul Newman were considered for the part, until Keanu Reeves was cast as the titular assassin.

  • @arklytte

    With regards to Daisy: Apparently the actor who played the thug who 'killed' her was so upset by the scene that he spent literally hours after they finished filming that bit, just sitting and holding/playing with her and bawling his eyes out. He ended up adopting her and apparently she's now much loved by him and his family and super spoiled.
    So, a sorta-kinda happy ending to the whole thing.
    Also, the dog in the end, if you pause the movie at just the right time, you can see that he's going to be euthanized the next day, so John literally saved his life...kind of a fitting parallel.

    This movie is master class in setting up the audiences support for the hero. In killing Daisy, nothing John does in revenge is too much, and he is immediately sympathetic.

  • @Maratonkata
    @Maratonkata Pƙed rokem +7

    Fun Fact:
    When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.

      Believe he said 27 kilograms & you're correct "that was code for there's 27 people waiting for you inside" & the person setting the film up for US audiences did a conversion 27 Kg/60Lb. Thinking Americans who've been seeing images of Kg's of drugs on TV since 1980's & Miami Vice won't know what a kilogram is.

      @DS-182 Pƙed rokem

      @Mr Tim you're right, 27 kilos = like 59.59 LBs, and he probably realistically only killed 27 people... but on the other hand, it's possible 33 people ran for their lives, or he got in and out fast enough that he didn't have to deal with them. we might never know...đŸ€”

    This movie is very accurate. The shot counts match the rounds available for each gun being used before needing a mag change. In the beginning of the movie, Wick is wearing his watch normal, but when doing business he flips it upside down. This is a military tactic to prevent reflection being seen off the case/glass and so he can see his watch while holding his guns.There are many other details but these were cool to me.

    I remember my wife surprised me with a trip to the movies and we watched this freakin loved it we've been John Wick fans since. Keanu trained for months for this role the director had him trained in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and weapons training for the 2nd movie Tran tactical trained him for the weapons and he became a legit firearms shooter

    fun fact: francis, the guard john let go, was played by WWE hall of famer and legendary pro wrestler, kevin nash.
    funner fact: kevin nash played the russian in "the punisher", opposite thomas jane. in their hilariously awesome fight scene, jane accidently stabs nash in the shoulder with a knife. the knife was suppose to be gimmicked but it wasn't replaced and thus, jane stabbed him. he was the only one who knew and once the director yelled cut, he screamed for a medic. kevin didn't seem to notice and just brushed it off as nothing and the scene was kept in the movie.

    Dog lover to dog lover, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, and agree!!!! Seeing how she and Cody were reacting to John Wick and his dog Daisy getting beaten by the same Russians from the gas station in his house- the beagle herself having it the worst was heart-wrenching. Not only that it saddened her to the point that she(Bridgette) didn't want to see this anymore, she became vengeful, wanting justice for the canine. Even John Wick himself would agree to that(him having justice for Daisy and his car).
    Much love and respect!!!!😌🙏

    It wasn't luck that John found the animal clinic/shelter. As he and the new dog are walking away, you can see that that is the same riverside walkway where Helen collapsed the first time; John had been there before.

    If you look at John’s facial hair, it’s actually almost made to be the shape of a skull. John wasn’t rusty, the glass was causing problems. Any professional worth their salt would be using hollow points, and when a hollow point hits glass, it usually causes problems. You run into jacket separation, deflection from angle of intersection, etc. John was trying to wing him and the glass was deflecting the bullets.

    The John Wick series is something to binge watch one after the other because they are told in serial form. JW2 picks up where JW leaves off, then JW3 picks up right after JW2. JW4 being released this Friday picks up after the events of JW3.
    No spoiler, but you should watch the videos of Keanu Reeves gun training at the Taran Tactical school. Keanu and one of his JW3 costars trained in 3-Gun discipline (pistol, rifle, shotgun). He also does most of his own stunts including driving, the falls though from the balcony and some other stuff to come were done by stuntmen.

    The gold coins are Krugerrands. Minted in South Africa in the mid 60's they were illegal in many countries due to sanctions against S Africa because of apartheid. They are around 90% gold, and are worth about $2000 each currently, more when the Wick movies started due to gold prices fluctuating. So "dinner for 12" was around $24,000. Minimum.
