Very nice approach with the mountains and houses below. I agree with you. It looks windy and bumpy. It's kinda common for airports that are close to mountains and cliffs. I've took off and landed in SCL airport countless times and it's always windy and bumpy. Must say that the CRJ-200 is an aircraft that flies like that and makes that kind of approaches. Anyway, nice vid and happy flying!
Good question. Flying around on my flight simulator is a ton of fun, but honestly I have other things on my plate at the moment. I have plenty of time for real aviation videos because when I travel I occasionally have big blocks of free time to film. And when I am not travelling I am trying to post all the real aviation footage I have at a consistent rate.
I understand that there are several "feelings" that a passenger feels during a flight that are uncomfortable and I wasn't softening that. But there are hundreds of factors that go into an approach and landing that a passenger will never understand, no matter how many times they've flown...
and planted it :) Any landing you can walk away from and al that! BTW, what ever happened to the let's play series after 1 episode. I really enjoyed it!
Prior to when I started filming the plane was a descending at an irregular decent rate. I suppose it was because of the mountains in the area. I was expecting the pilot to call a missed a approach and go around and try again, but he went for it.
Nice video, but I have to echo other comments posted here. What did you find so "scary" about this particular landing? It looks to be fairly routine and smooth. That said, I've flown into PSP several times, and I know there can sometimes be a wicked crosswind that buffets an aircraft on final approach. Is that what happened to you? One of the roughest flights I've ever had was on a UA 737 from LAX to PSP in 1998. The pilot had the cabin crew remain in their seats for the entire 30-min. flight.
I read the comment that you deleted. It's not the first time I've had someone claim they are a pilot. I'm allowed to say what I want. Either respect it or leave. Simple.
As an airline pilot, for passengers to say that a pilot “calls a missed approach” or should “go around and try again, but went for it” shows the ignorance of the majority of the flying public. No airline pilot flies or thinks this way. An “irregular descent rate” may be “irregular” to a passenger but within limits of the pilot/aircraft. This makes me wonder if doctors feel the same way about patients trying to be the “expert” of their field.
For someone who has flown into PSP countless times and has been on an airplane hundreds of times I've never felt such an odd and uncomfortable feeling on an aircraft. My full family agrees with me. There is no ignorance what so ever. We are all entitled to our own opinions. You weren't onboard so you really have no clue.
Nice! Those mountains are beautiful!

This brings me memories sight seeing at KPSP. Nice filming!

Crummy plane, worst ride I've ever had. I didn't know KPSP has a new tower, looks nice.
Nice film, but where's the scary part of it?
Scariest? Why?
Where is the scary part???
