This video will be useful to so many people, not just podcasters/youtubers.
This should garner some boosts, and suggested videos for ALL of YT. I feel like the algorithm is strong for this one. 👍 120 views in the first 43min. not bad.
Have been using Companion for a few years, amazing tool. Love when a video like this is released and I learn a few new tricks. Strong Work Aaron!
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION as always. Thanks, Aaron.
I completely agree on the Up and Down buttons.
Somewhat curious if the devs of the Companion image for Raspberry Pi have considered making the image available to the Raspberry Pi community through the Raspberry Pi Imager. I think it would be more likely to be checked out by people interested in doing even more with their SteamDeck. I'd also kind of like their home page for the software to indicate what platforms they know it's working on. The fact that it's available on a Pi suggests that it should be available on Linux in general, but I don't consider it a given.
Excellent tutorial!
Please more content like this
I have deployed companions on mini-pc at many places but I plan to use raspberry pi 4 because of low power usage and lack of fan noise.
Great video. I would suggest the Companion emulator over the web buttons.
I had wanted this option, especially in my flypack so I don't need to go around with a laptop if not needed. Is it possible to install other supported software like a playback sw(playout bee etc) alongside companion since you installed a custom pi image. I would love where I can have automation and also media player in. a single pi.
I follow
Set a static IP Address on Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm
Tried setting a static IP but got
error: unknown connection 'wired connection 1'
Can anyone please solve it?
Thanks
Numbering of devices on Linux starts from 0, so perhaps if you we're trying to configure it and put eth1 instead of eth0?
If you can write out what commands you were using or link the tutorial you were following I might be able to work out what is going wrong.
The best way to give a device a static ip is not on the pi but through your router if you have access to that
Can you run it on proxmox?
I've never tried but I suppose so, as long as you can map a USB device to the VM. Or you could use just the web interface buttons, but the physical buttons are very nice.
We have Companion running on proxmox. But all the Streamdecks are connected to PCs or RPis with Companion-Satellite throughout the studio.
@@jansteinke Ok, thank you :)
"Again, I'll link to a video which I did recently which goes into a deepdive of how my Companion is setup, down below"
* looks down below and doesn't find the link to that video. Disappointed. So many CZcamsrs forget to *actually* put the video link in the description.
Oops sorry! Here's the link, updating the description now!

I think the reason this happens is that so much time passes between filming the video and actually publishing it. If i'm working off a script then I'll usually put the link in my notes, but if there's no script, I might just say "link is below" on the fly and then completely forget about it by the time I go to actually upload the video and add the description.
