Man, it's so weird hearing about a split screen feature being treated as something "new" when it was practically a standard back then. Makes you think about how the game industry has pursuit certain things like online only multiplayer along the years.
No, It's rare a game with split screen on pc
split screen on pc
i miss couch co-op!!
@@bogmanhimself4656 same
yeah i was like " Whaaa Spli-Screen modes in 2020?? "
Dirt 5 is a good fun game but I would have loved to see some more Rally action, the other games in the dirt series always had rally stages dirt, dirt 2, dirt 3, dirt 4.. Its one thing that does dissapoint me a little
Dirt rally exists tho
@@GaelPorFlo It's more sim-based rally than the typical simcade middle ground the main series was known for until the 5th game. Rally mode should've just been a core element to practically every Dirt games and it's quite a mistake to omit it from the main series.
I think it's a good direction to go cause the main Dirt games being rally games too makes Dirt Rally redundant I feel the main series should go for as many dirt type racing as they can without it feeling bloated and Dirt Rally can be the rally focused games for the fans that want that there's really no point in having two game series of the same name by the same company focused on rally racing.
@@theninjamaster67 Because money involved. Instead of releasing multiple games, they should have focused on supporting already existing games with multiple DLCs then after 3 years of support move onto a sequel or something. Nowadays we are getting almost annual CM games and racing genre has been stagnant for more than a solid decade now. I wish they stopped pumping out new games after Dirt 3 when the differences are almost niche between each other. But again, money is money.
yea they should have called it dirt showdown instead of just dirt
Is no one realizing that this is basically Dirt Showdown 2?
This must be why they didn't call it that.
ha - I actually thought it felt like dirt showdown a bit.
Kinda. Dirt 5 effectively is a reboot to the main series, literally an entire new game made by different core development team as well, and it just happens to embrace the arcade side more so than its predecessor.
@@hrsmp In my opinion, hardly. It looks like one but Onrush isn't a rly racing game, which is a very interesting change btw.
@@crowcore It's made by the same development team/studio and is based on the same engine, so one would argue that and still make sense.
@@GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies1435 yeah but why no rally?
Dirt 2 is still the best Dirt game from Codemasters to this day...
I loved it, and still today
Yeah they did an amazing job with that one, loved how you had the same celebrity racers all the time to race against, made it feel like you had some real rivalries.
Hope to see remaster
I think dirt 3 was the best. That was the only racing game i needed back then
Definitely I wanna try 4 im thinking 2 and 3 was just amazing but now I'm not sure what to think of newer ones miss the ken block hoonigan stuff

The reason why I bought Dirt 4 is the point-to-point rally race.
DiRT 4 may be limited when it comes to modes, but at least it's primarily focused on rally racing.
Dirt 4 was probably their best rally game. More accessable than Dirt Rally and doesn't have the live services issues of Dirt Rally 2.0, and the physics are a good simcade approach, sorta like Forza where it leans more on the sim side.
Exactly, and the exact reason I'm not buying dirt 5
And is 4.99 at ps store
@@r.a.p.k.models4160 With a price that cheap, you might as well get it before that game some day gets delisted, like its predecessors before it. Unless you already have it physical, I suppose.
it really makes me happy that you're being sponsored by AMD. you deserve it man
Dirt 4 has so much nostalgia for me. Played it all summer when it released in 2017
Hey Nick, i love your direct comparison series, keep up the good work👍

Dirt 4 is a nice simcade, good way to learn the basics, relax etc. I don't even know what Dirt 5 is supposed to be...
arcade
Great job comparing and reviewing the two games in such detail. Thank you 🤘
I think dirt 4 (based off this video) is much better sound wise. With 5 i could barely hear the other cars, while the player car and terrain sounds do around nice or even better than 4, I strongly prefer 4
Thank you very much for this video. Exactly what I was looking for.
That 6800XT was running it 4k maxed out, including 8x msaa. I think it said msaa. That is insanity. I think that would murder my 1080ti. The new generation of GPUs from both companies are quite an improvement over previous generations. Impressive.
I'd stick to dirt rally 2.0 for the immersive feel imo, but to be fair, dirt 5 brought me them serious nfs2 vibes and i love it
Another spectacular video, thank you!
I also like roblox
"jimmykhana"
So glad to see Jimmy Khana is back, I really missed him in Dirt 4
Bruh
I'm considering Dirt 5, and this video was very helpful. Thanks.
a short performance comparison would be interesting too 😊
I’ve been having a lot of fun playing dirt 4 on a 750 ti and a ps4 remote. Dirt rally is more barebones for me but I loved it when a had a g25 and rig setup.
Now I'm super eager for Dirt rally 3!
Never stop uploading!!!!
Woa splitscreen on PC?? Haven't heard that one for a while now
It's a shame Dirt 5 is built for a target audience with an attention span of 5 minutes. There is no challenge in their new handling model, and the tracks are all way too wide, with walls literally everywhere. Every aspect of this game makes it very clear that the developers have no idea what made Dirt 2 and 3 so great.
I wonder why AMD sponsored this video when you can't buy their cards anyway.
Well you can't buy Nvidia cards either. And AMD makes CPUs too.
I bought an 6700xt last month for 1k auds, they were only in stock for a couple of hours tho
Very cool video. I love both games but find Dirt5 especially addictive. I’ve been playing it on my iPhone to get my fix wherever I am (and posted a few videos). Amazing that you can play such an amazing game on your phone.
great video as always
This channel is quickly turning into my favorite channel on CZcams
I still play dirt 4 to this day but I stoped playing dirt 5 after a few weeks.
Me too , then I went back to it and loved it .
Dirt 4 was way ahead of its time. Miss the game 😢
thanks for video!
This video makes me want to start playing DIRT!!!! Where have I been this whole time, never heard of this game
If you're on PC, Dirt Rally 2.0 Super Deluxe Edition is on sale for $8 on greenmangaming. That's all you need.
Where HAVE you been all this time? Colin McRae Rally first came out in the 90s. Colin McRae Rally DiRT came out in 2007. They've been considered the pinnacle of rally games since rally games existed.
Dirt has never been more interesting... except the time I made mud cakes... that was fun :)
In one of the next videos can you do a comparison of Assassin's Creed Valhalla between the demo and the retail version? There are some differences especially with the characters model, the male Eivor overall.
Dirt 5 is just Gameloft's Asphalt Off-Road
How is it like asphalt? It a mobile game
Actually Asphalt extreme has better physics and u can drive whatever u want so also u have nitro
@N P me too but if you play dirt 5 you prefer any garbage over dirt 5
Dirt 4 is closer to Dirt Rally series, Dirt 5 is simplified version of Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 games.
Great choice
yes
The tracks design is really down to personal preference, but I prefer Dirt 4's realistic look and feel in track designs (even if they look repetitive sometimes), over Dirt 5's unrealistic, inconsistent and cluttered tracks...
Personally, I prefer better lighting mechanics over graphical fidelity, especially in a racing game, where things are moving so quickly.
I've never heard an American even nearly pronounce Peugeot correctly n I respect you for trying and almost perfecting it
Hes not American xD
@@xuriste Canadian then, idk you all sound the same to me
I'm American and I've always pronounced it 'pewj-yo' since childhood. Honestly, I don't see how any English speaker could come to the conclusion it's pronounced any other way lol.
Really looking forward to Dirt 5 on Game Pass from the 25th February, what a great only a few months after its release.
Dirt 4 is a superior game in every aspect. Been playing dirt 5 for 5 hours. Made me ragequit.
Finally been waiting
About the damage model, it's not only that DiRT 5 is more arcade, both games try to keep the chassis and rollcage untouched due to contract reasons. They could have made the damage model even better, but the brands don't always like seeing their vehicle destroyed.
What a load of crap lol.
No doubt Dirt 2 & 3 and Dirt Rally were the peak of this franchise, these aren't bad, but it feels like something is missing
DiRT 2 was such a great hidden gem when it released.
can't wait for you to do total war warhammer 3 when it comes out
Love how the dirt 2.0 music is in the bakcground
I watch these to see how far games are going these days, seems like some things are goig3 backwards these days
Yes, look at DiRT 3 even on Xbox 360 or backward comatybile on Xbox One/series it looks better and plays better than both DiRT 4 and 5
Due to:
-game studios controlled by businessman, not geeks with passion.
-manipulate the market with hype, outright lies.
-minimize the effort, maximize the profit.
Games are no longer digital entertainment, but digital scam.
@@knowledgeland9880 Yup, all the passion seems to be gone these days.
I'm playing both at the same time exactly to see the differences since the last month, but at no time did I notice that the tracks on Dirt 4 are randomly generated.
Bro thats the first thing i noticed
if they had stick wit the same engine,
it would perform better, though, there's some
visuals that look amazing in this game, specialy
the gradual mud in the vehicles
Dirt 4 was developed using codemaster EGO engine, Dirt 5 does not use the same engine.
3:58 I almost believed it's real life
Man if they add in an rally aspect to dirt 5 I would buy it asap
i mean like the lighting differences makes sense due to the time difference between when they came out
5:43 you were about to hit that tree but we'll ignore it
It’s kinda disappointing that dirt 5 just doesn’t have rally. That’s what dirt has always been about at it’s core. Now IMO it sounds like nick prefers door to door rally cross but dirt really isn’t the same without real balls to the wall foot to the floor rallying. I’m still gonna get dirt 5 ofc. But I’m probably still gonna play dirt 4 for the rallying.
yeah even the most arcade dirt game has rally (excluding showdown)
Uh you used the DIRT 2.0 soundtrack 😍
Yeah. Dirt 4 and dirt 5 have licensed tracks that cant be used.
@@Nick930 No diss intended. Love the DIRT 2.0 soundtrack!
It sucks now that EA bought codemasters and are vowing to ruin as many franchises as possible! Such as the dirt games
What are code masters?
@@TheChillStart the dev of dirt series
no suprise why the game sux now
Do a comparison between dirt rally 2.0 and dirt 5
The fact that there is no Point to Point Rally races in DiRT 5 is a reason I won't buy it at full price, or until its under £20
There are some 0-100% races in the game but youd have to use time trial to go solo i guess. Can't recall the name of the type of race only been playing a few days. Definitely more laid-back and casual than rally 2.0 which is nice at times for sure.
So Dirt 4 is more like the original Dirt and Dirt 5 is like Dirt 2
Dirt 5 feels like forza horizon without the free roam. Dirt game without rally is like a car without brakes.
Top 6 Dirt games for me:
#1 Dirt:4
#2 Dirt: 3
#3 Dirt
#4 Dirt: 2
#5 Dirt: Showdown
#6 Dirt: 5
Dirt would be great is they combined the track generator and point-to-point rally from 4 with the pre-made tracks and rallycross from 5 in a single game. Variety is the spice of life!
Overall I can't shake my love for Dirt 2... it had it all for my personal fun.
best comparison chanel
The audio is honestly *WAAAY* better in Dirt 4. I don't really know... but it somehow sounds like toys driving around and bumping into each other in Dirt 5, which doesn't sound *THAT* good.
Dirt 5 is great and all, but it falls short to Dirt 2 in almost all aspects. but still enjoyable because i can't play Dirt 2 anymore. I just wish Codemasters make the locations and some tracks from Dirt 2 to Dirt 5 and that would be bomb!
I love your videos!!!!!!
I'm not quite sure how their product team is thinking about this. Dirt 5 is an arcade racing game that should have had an alternate title (kind of like what forza does with horizons). And dirt rally really should have just taken over the dirt name.
i liked dirt 4 for its rally stages dirt 5 doesnt have a single rally stage so i wah and wait for dirt rally 3.0
Superb review!🎉As a longtime Dirt fan I was so disappointed with Dirt 4, it seemed like an undone game to me with a boring vibe. Dirt 5 is what the series should look like-fun, vibrant and attention to details, it’s more like Dirt 2 & 3 which in my opinion the best. I’m happy to see my favorite franchise is heading the right direction. However my question is, is there really no replay mode in Dirt 5 or it’s just me overlooking? 😢
why do people compare graphic when most important part of the game is car physics, dirt rally was best because its almost like driving rally car irl
Is Nick930 the same person as Snazzy Labs?
A racing game with non-functional mirrors. Well done Codemasters.
If you want a mirror game so bad..
you should play mirror simulator game
Who needs mirrors when you’re in front 😅
Is it that really important? It's just game simulation it's not REAL
@@ZephyrGhost Considering mirrors are very useful in a driving game, yes. Even more so it being focused on racing which is just outright laziness to not have by default. It's not like it's GTA where there's more to the game than driving.
Why is there no split screen on consoles?
There is.
Can you do Direct comparison : Ace Combat 7 vs. Project Wingman ?
It is the same genre and use same engine, so I really want to know how much it different
This is a very interesting idea. I will consider this
@@Nick930 Thanks! Looking forward to it ;D
Dirt 5 looks kinda flat to me.
The ground textures are blurry af,it's like 512x512 resolution...
I like both games but dirt 4 takes the win especially the crash physics AND mechanical issues in dirt 4 so hopefully when dirt 6 comes out it will be a sequel from 4 love the rally courses and the joker circuits get that real race feel......
Environment shadows seem to be completely missing at 4:13
It's supposed to be "midday" in that race. I agree, Brazil isn't the best example of the game's lighting sadly. And this is why I mention that the lighting isn't necessarily the most advanced in the industry, but it's still a step up from DiRT 4.
I just don't get why the lighting can't be on the same level as their other games like F12020
@@Nick930 Rally games seem to be their blandest games in terms of graphics innovations. At least the 2 Dirt Rally games have much tighter courses to make you concentrate on driving.
@@Nick930 Different studio and engine. F12020 is made by Codemasters Birmingham and is based on their own version of EGO engine, while Dirt 5 is made by Codemasters Chesire and is based on the studio's own in-house engine as used on their previous game Onrush.
It's also worth noting that F12020 is an iteration of the same game while Dirt 5 practically is a whole new game and was made in rush (also being made by small number of developers).
Does dirt 5 have Rally mode?
Didn't even know dirt 5 was coming out lol.
It's been months bro
It’s been out since early early November 😭
To me Dirt 5 looks a lot worse in terms of lighting on the bright scenes.
But music is taken from Dirt Rally, isn't it? :D
Finally, This looks like the game I’ve been looking for. Off-road dirt “racing”, not that rally stage crap. Thank god they took those out. That’s the point of having Dirt Rally. Why have both with the same content? I never understood that. Definitely getting this.👍🏼👍🏼
hard disagree, the dirt series was founded on stage rally
@@f67739 you’re right it was but they released a Dirt Rally series so that’s why I believe it’s redundant to have Rally for both otherwise they should’ve just kept the Dirt series only instead of adding Dirt Rally.
I find sim rally games a bit boring, always competing against the clock, point to point on your own. I'm all up for a more arcade take on Dirt, looks far more fun to play. Some Dirt 5 races remind me of the Motorstorm series on PS3, these games were a blast. I bought sim rally games before and played 10 min tops. Motorstorm on the other hands was so much fun that I played countless hours.
I dont feel the dirt and tyres anymore in dirt 5.. if they could only just stayed on simcade gameplay. Feels more like NFS game.
I like that you love AMD in this video and then use Nvidia in every other video
I will skip this dirt 5, i'm still having fun with 4: damage counts, driving has the best balance of skills and fun, you have your team to manage in every possible way, every error counts not only when driving... What else? Superior sound design, every car feels different and behave different if you turn off all driving assist in the menu! (only set abs to 1 or 2 with joypad)
You will notice this thing more if you have a force feedback wheel like me, btw i'm on joypad by choice since april and i'm still having fun!
It's your skills, your car, your navigator, your team and you can tune all of them!
The more you win the more you will attract sponsors to get money faster to upgrade and buy things...
when you end your carrer you can compete online also with your tuned cars, and oh boooooooooy!
...nah will wait for dirt 6, thanks :)
I still play Dirt4 on Linux when I get some time and the career is fantastic. It's real rally simulation with the team management. I really don't care about graphics, the playability and simulation counts for me.
Dirt 5 isn't a Linux native. While that might not matter with proton, it seems like a step backwards for us Linux users.
This was such an amazing game I had steering wheel pedals and a shifter hooked it all up to the PS3 and literally learnt how to drive stick it was so realistic
I just watched your video, installed Dirt 5, played for 20 minutes, uninstalled, then continued watching this video. I'm now reinstalling it again. 😂
D4 definitely has better sound, by a lot! that surprised me.
Pls do wrc 8 vs wrc 9!
Am I crazy or does Nick930 sound like Ben Plays VR? Even down to the speech mannerisms.
Dirt four is best imo if dirt five had rally id give it a try
The Dirt looks clean ig
DIRT and DIRT 2 are the best but I still enjoy 5 even if it is a full arcard race game...
