That's what I use hellhounds for Charging in and ignoring the minus 1 to hit with the main gun . Their awesome for tying people up, same with double flamer chimeras.
I love seeing straken in these tournaments. regardless of the list or just the chance he underperforms but bless him he's such a good lad to tell a story about

Man those mean people crapping on my vanquisher ideas at the start of 10th because "swingy" awful quiet now. I also swear by cadians. Sticky objectives are invaluable to me.
To be fair, vanqs and every other russ were much more expensive at the start of 10th.
@@quincykunz3481 I think "much" is a stretch and that doesnt matter because artillery and bullgryns were cheaper. Most lists have barely changed. Either way. People being Uber dicks because they worship the meta instead of thinking we're wrong.
@@BloodBuffalo you just need faith in the emperor and as many vanquishers as you can get, thinking outside the box is so often poo pooed in this game and yet running varied lists is exactly what makes the game interesting.
@@BloodBuffalo wrong logic, when artilery was cheaper the meta lists were basically pure artilery, the artilery being more expensive and vanqs cheaper is why they are useable.
@@janehrahan5116 I think the point of thinking for yourself opposed to conventional meta went over your head. My vanquisher list close to mordians is near unchanged the entire edition because the points fluctuated near equally.
Having your Commissar BLAM! themselves certainly is one way to improve the morale of those under his command.

Tomb blades aren't always -1 to hit, they just have stealth. Their rule is fire and fade
I like the game you had against Necrons :-)
I really like that turret from Nefyma, the 17pdr toting Gothic centurion/comet turret(Gothic British engineering is basically the best asthetic possible in my humble opinion). I would recommend slapping it on a Grim Prints Churchill chassis for a Black Prince style Malcador. Looks minted.
This is why I love the Necron Lokhust Heavy Destroyers. Yes they only get 1 shot from their big gun but when it goes through it kills and makes a huge impact. 3 LHD cost about the same as a Vanq. But a Vanq is much more durable.
The Cadians with the Cadian command squad can be really nice against armies with a lot of modifiers like death guard. The 2x specials are nice too. but no plasma pistol.
Vanquishers can be really nice. When you need the punch, you get the punch. I have a commander and an exterminator that I almost always take. Commander usually has a demolisher, but sometimes has a vanquisher. Take aim is nice when you have one shot

The Commissar’s ability can only be used at the start of a phase. So in game 2 you would have needed to wait until movement to use it, and could not have used Reinforcements on Creed’s unit.
What sort of lists did the top 3 players run? Great video. Astra Militarum are so flexible in play style… might start a guard army haha

Starting to think of punishers in a similar ilk given they are only 5 points more than vanquishers. Especially given the horde meta of 10th at the moment. It's starting to feel like they might be able to do a job now with dev wounds on the main gun.
Great to see guard near the top of the table. I turned up with a Doomhammer full of heavy weapons squads with las cannons at the same tournament. 100% one of the meme lists, but it was lots of fun.
Played 2 vanquisher yesterday. Decided to shoot the first cannon.
Rolled a 1 to hit, rerolled with scout sentinel ability for a hit.
Rolled 1 to wound, rerolled a 1 with command reroll.
Yeah, this shit is why I didn't rank them very highly before the pts reduction. Statistically they're meant to hit and wound, but in reality, fate causes these unlucky dice rolls lol
How do cyclops do objectives? I thought they needed the ability to shoot in order to do certain actions
Page 6 in the Rules Commentary document covers this. Essentially so long as they haven’t advanced, fallen back, and are not locked in combat then they can still do an action even if they don’t have a ranged weapon.
Doesn't the commissar blam a guy at the start of any phase? So you would of had to do it in the movement phase, meaning you couldn't of done it twice?

Yes, but in the example in question, Mordian was already in the middle of his command phase when the Catachan unit failed battleshock. He could only remove the battleshock at the start of movement, which means he would not have been able to use Reinforcements on Creed’s unit.

I Gone 3/0 this Sunday on a local 30 player Turnament and gone second.
Playing 2 Vanquishers , 3 Hellhounds , 3 Tank Commanders , 1 Exterminator , 1x6 Bullgrins and some other stuff.
They hatet all the 2+ Saves and the Vanquishers :D

Assuming random pairings, to get the 3 necron games is about 1/580. 😄
Hang on? You can use the reinforcement strat on a battleshocked unit? It’s dead isn’t it?
Generally if a unit is battleshocked and then killed then it can not reinforce. But if this is referring to the Commissar killing the battle shocked unit out of battle shock, it should work as it doesn't matter if the unit is destroyed or not, it is no longer battle shocked and therefore legal for Reinforcements.

This was a very enjoyable after action report to listen to, but it has not convinced me about these units. Each game seems to have had an event where something went unexpectedly wrong for the opponent immediately in a rather unlikely way. It is an interesting list, but I remain unconvinced that this is worth am endorsement. I would have to see at least a few more games first and watch what happens.
There are a few batreps where Mordian has success with the Vanquisher spam list in a few batreps that you may have not watched over the course of this month. And I have taken a vanquisher to a tournament a few times in which killed Angron in one turn with all of it's weapons. You don't just take the Vanquisher Leman Russ for the big weapon, it's weapons that comes with it are really good as well.
