DIESEL DAYS @ Illinois Railway Museum 2018

During 2018's annual "Diesel Days" event, IRM tested a new format. Instead of the usual diesel parade, a constant variety of diesel locomotives were switched out to pull train consists. Diesel locomotives included CB&Q E-5A 9911A, CRI&P GP-7R 4506, ATSF FP45 92, C&NW SD40-2 6847, and much more.

The perfectly tuned horn on 4506. That is the beautiful music of the Rock Island in the 60s and 70s when they ran through my boyhood hometown.

The E5 diesel of the Burlington Railroad had fender skirts over its wheels to match the height of ite underframe. Check out the original photos of the E5 streamlined diesels.

That's because those switches are spring-loaded, so it's okay to go through them at a certain speed. They'll spring back to normal afterwards

@@greatwesternproductions301 The same switch was used on Chatham Square station in Chinatown on the 3rd Ave. El from 1950 to 1955 when the el ended.
