- The beauty of hackers, says cybersecurity expert Keren Elazari, is that they force us to evolve and improve. Yes, some hackers are bad guys, but many are working to fight government corruption and advocate for our rights. By exposing vulnerabilities, they push the Internet to become stronger and healthier, wielding their power to create a better world.

A hacker speaking up for hackers. I loved this speech.
I thought she sounded like a bit of a HACK.
love this talk.
What a speech Love you mam
@@funfun5656 what a great pun
Hackers are a necessary evil.
She gave the best sales pitch I've ever heard for the hacker community.
"or adding a few ZEROS to your bank account", my bank account is already a ZERO.
I just hacked in and added 14 more zeros to your bank account
Shes not a good hacker, she forgot of this boundary case.
I do not have the skill sets to hack.
She was walking a tightrope here to get the whole audience to listen and I think she did well. Keren and her companions have saved this world so much grief, it is very hard to thank them enough.
But thank you.
People who are determined and intelligent enough to figure things out for themselves also tend to be self sufficient, independent and very passionate about their beliefs. This type of citizen or subject tends to challenge the status quo of established doctern. This is why they are labeled as dissenters and criminals rather than embraced for what the offer, basic freedom.
Demonization of such persons, for the purpose of controlling the masses, is an affront to all who truely love freedom. The actions of a select few do not a subclass make. If we are not free to think, explore and discover for ourselves then we are not free. Our colective cultures will wither in stagnation if we can not indulge in something as basic as human curiosity.
***** I appreciate your feedback however I am struggling with correlating your points to this particular post.
If we are to fear hacking due to terroristic activities then should we not also ban automobiles, plains and for that matter pedestrian gathering places (ie shopping malls and open markets)?
Im sorry but I do not see how agregious testing of syphilis patients holds any bearing on hacking. Curiosity prevades all aspects of life, commerse, religion, science and so forth. It would seem that branding all pursuits driven by curiosity with this horrid act is in itself a very broad generalization.
As to your last comment. Please feel free to read my post more thoroughly. You made my point, though less succinctly. "The actions of a select few do not a subclass make."
Thanks for your feedback. I do appreciate the opportunity to ponder your thoughts and feelings on the topic.
***** I am sorry but I do not know how else to convey this to you my friend. You have missed some very obvious points in both my comments and the video. At no time did I or the speaker ever state that a blind eye should be turned to the bad things that are done with hacking. Not once. Please take the time to actually listen to Keren and reread my comments. You have single handedly managed to both make a fool of yourself and twist the prevailing message into something completely off topic. Please refrain from posting until you have a clear understanding of the point of this thread. I am sorry but it seems as though your lifes experience has generated a rather heafty volume of missplaced angst. This is not the thread for grinding the proverbial ax. Though I welcome intelligent and respectful debate, your comments are largely off topic and inflammatory. Thank you again for taking the time to share your opinions. Prehapse you will find a common thread on another post geared towards the underlying fear that drives your response.
Sorry people but another troll has attacked a benign thread and created a circus of one. Sadly I will be closing the topic as the inflamatory comments he made were offensive to many and in conflict with the intentions of this post. As stated before ***** this is not the thread in which to grind your ax. I hope you can understand. If not, as before, please read thoroughly before posting.
@@DeaconXPS the world will forever confuse me.
God, that was fucking wonderful. Concise, well argued, compelling. Good stuff.
ohh, fancy seeing you here!!
Turtle boy! wasn't expecting to see my favorite author on the top of this comment section! love your work my friend! I wish I could write as eloquently as you!
0 with a couple more 0's in my bank account is still o :'(
-1000 with a couple of extra zeros is not good either :(
yeah, there was a funny little bug a while back that allowed people to subtract money from someones bank accounts lol
x^2 + x + 0
lol more zeros would just make my account more negative
wanted to post exactly this comment
2:42 that is THE MOST COMPLICATED sql injection i have ever seen
+Meplayminecraft Now lol
+Meplayminecraft Now script kiddy?
This is actually very easy to understand.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I like this lady, she knows what's up! Definitely a drive for innovation.
"it's not information that wants to be free, it's us" wow!
I was just going to move to the next talk without liking this... till she said "Hack the planet."
+Ecil2 Hack the planet!! was a famous quote A. Jolie said in the Hackers movie
+Ecil2 they are trashing our rights!
I think it´s all about attitude, not only a "Good vs Evil" fight
+entebras to be fair it wasn't just her, pretty much everyone said that, was the name of the hacking show. :)
everything can be hacked, and...everyone
"Immune system of internet" this is the nicest thing ever said to a hacker
One of the best talks I have seen. Right on point. RIP Barnaby Jack.
u r hacker... if yes teach me something
@@mayurnagar2178 google first, start digging and stop asking, if you know what you're doing
That closing part's a tearjerker.
An amazing talk. We have barely begun to comprehend this digital world that we've created. As always, it is only through mutual understanding and community that we can prosper and not through adversary and greed.
"One man's hero can be another man's hero"... the best fact that I do look at when people talk about things they don't like and do like.
Keren Elazari IS Acid Burn she became her hero and realized her dream.
one of the worst scenarios that can happen with the "little" help of the hacker described in the thriller "Mona" by Dan T. Sehlberg
Thank's Keren and TED - it's a great talk indeed

I’ve always wondered what “hackers” really are.
But I think they’re just people who persistently poke at systems to find flaws. Either to exploit, or to repair.
You've definitely gotten to Hackers/Jolie level now, Keren :) Thanks for the cool talk!
Honestly you have motivated every cyber securitist and hacker to unite together.
Absolutely, by far the best Ted Talk ive seen! amazing!!!!
support hackers support bug bounty ! :)
why r u smiling
She didn't allowed me to switch to another video... Such beautifully designed speech. To the point and gold material...🤯
Wonderful! Thank you sooo much for spreading the information! ♡
Yes, it's the people that want to be free. Great talk!
she reminds me of Felicity!! (from Arrow)
And I love the talk btw! very interesting, I've always wanted to learn hacking,, there is something so very fascinating about hacking.
Then Anuka, you should also see Eye Candy Series. The main Character looks just like her.
Plus The show is based on Dark Web Hacking too....
"Add a few 0's on your bank account"
People with negative balance: 🙂
she is just phenomenal! one of my favorite Ted Talks ever!!
The presenter literally looks a like a stereotypical female hacker from a sci fi or hacker-focused movie/video game. lol
+´Tomas Muir She did tell you that the stereotypical female hacker from those genres where a large part of her aspiring to become a hacker. Besides, it's a good look.
Literally?
Her clothes look like the secret agent clothes from The Sims 4.
lol yeah that's the first thing i noticed too, with that black and purple hair.
A compliment!
Wonderful presentation. Excellent perspective.
The conclusion part at around 10:25 was amazing
A steady, pleasant human being. Loved the talk.
Great presentation .. I believe that in the background of things in the world , there are people like hackers that move it forward because of the knowledge they know , use and share to change it all.
Very informative video with great insights. Thank you for sharing!
Amazing! Definitely i will share this to my students. thanks Keren Elazari. Thanks TED!
Finally, someone mentioned the HACKERS movie, in which is one of the most influencing movies on me.
I found this extremely touching and inspirational for some reason.
I Totally agree.
Most of the harms are done by curiosity, not by intentions. We are like students: learning and experimenting and doing mistakes,
But learning to use that knowledge for good.
We should think what hakers think before choosing bad/good.
That was awesome! Makes me want to learn more!
She know the power of hacker's...who they are and what they can do... And too agree with her....
That s one of the best speaches heard by me
Thank you for your Talk, Brilliant.
Let's do the math
No hackers:
0$ stolen
Hackers:
Money stolen but bug is fixed after
Omg her speech was awesome i almost cried at the end because of how good she did
damn girl...you fine >3
insta?
One of the best talk i have seen !...
Extremally Well-said!
Too much appreciative and good video ever seen
Thank you for uploading this wonderful video
Wow! Amazing talk!!
Finally something interesting on TED Talks again. Finally a speech that made me change my mind on something. Thank you!
Excellent conclusion.
this is great .......all true ....Tankx TED
I find it funny you used security and F.B, in the same sentence. There is nothing secure about F.B.
Craig D would u mind proving ur point?
Fair game, honestly. Don't complain about the security of an organization when you don't have the capability to prove it is poor.
Funny enough😆
"Hack the Planet" part Is legendary ...
Great TED talk, +

She's too fucking cute, OMG!
@Kaalki ¡ but it's yours
That's fucking right man :D
Tell youtube to not ban hacking tutorials, they are the learning platform for beginers
One of TED's best in many moons.
World information age, I see her point, that hackers are a necessary force.
Yes~ I thought of you, right away....
just Amazing !
loved that tweet end "(only for #egypt; respect that please)". and anyone who has an ounce of self respect would actually respect that.
Very interesting topics!!!
12:14 its really depends where you stand.. RED STAR ON HEAD LIKE QUEEN
Good talk, I'm down with hackers as long as they're against nsa and Cia
Thank you Ben.
I do like the conclusion: 'They just can't see something broken in the world and leave it be'. That itch is the drive behind it all. :)
Great Talk
Awesome Ted talk !
this talk is really powerful and neatly done.. GO Go
Ethical hackers/pentesters are awesome. I thank you for all the stuff you have done
Great talk
I more and more need to learn about it
very well researched.. a little info on anon was abit off, but still a very nice ted talk!
Oh!! Love that!!
Good job well spoken

The beauty of hacker's
Hacker is beautiful
This gave me goosebumps.. i trust and believe in anonymous and hope our future is in a good hand... By saying this I have clearly stated, how much power they have.
The don jones industrial average is very misleading. There should be laws on how graphs are presented.
A one percent loss on the DJI is significant if you purchase enough stock at exactly that moment. It also can cost a significant amount of money, as it is an average as opposed to a monolithic entity.
Spot on!
The is the best Ted talk I've seen till date... Although I don't know the 'A' of a hacking, but I truly believe that they are like the god to us, after hearing what she said. All MI life I've been known to hackers as the bad people who steals money and this is because of the people that defines them, the government, the films etcetera. But I guess, they are real and I believe in them.
Excelente...
I was wearing my hair like this 4 years ago! Love that style...
bless this
Thank you with Translation Arbic
Hack The Planet!!! I immediately saw Cereal Killer shouting it back
"Conflict is the crucible, in which we evolve"
very informative

This was soooooo good
great speech
Extremely Awesome!!!!!!
