      I have used the occasionally over the past year. It definitely works. My Dr gives me 15 pills and it will last months. I take .5 mg and usually I break them in half. This past week for a variety of reasons I’ve had panic attacks and needed to take it 3 days in a row, once per day, the whole pill. I’m starting buspirone daily and hydroxyzine as needed if I need it. Because of everything you just mentioned basically. Am I going to have to taper the Xanax after taking 3 days in a row or am I just freaking myself out?

    Just a thought, let’s say that a patient has been prescribed Xanax for 20 years. The doctor gets paranoid about loosing his medical license. In turn, he tells the patient, “This is addictive, I don’t want you on it anymore”. The patient goes into acute withdrawals and has to go to the er. The er administers one Xanax to the patient after waiting in a loud and crowded waiting room for several hours. The patient is given a script for 4 Xanax, labeled as a “drug seeker” and is sent home. Of course, that’s not nearly enough to safely taper off the medication. The patient, an otherwise law abiding citizen, finds someone to sell her Xanax to keep out of (potentially fatal) withdrawals. Turns out, the Xanax was contaminated with Fentanyl. The patient is dead. Another victim of our wonderful medical system. This happened to my sister and I will never see her again because of this. Despite the fact that I have many psychiatric issues of my own and have to take medication, I will never look at doctors the same again.

      I've been through a situation where I was being harassed daily. It caused a mental break so I went to the ER. They gave me a script of like 10 pills. It lasted a couple weeks and I was back in the ER. I finally asked who I had to see because this wasn't going away any time soon. They told me to find a physiologist. I did and he didn't want to help either. I was honest and told him i smoked pot to help with sleep and even said I would quit. They still looked at me like I was some Crack head. I realized I was gonna get no help so I just stopped going. After I stopped going. I quit the anti depressants they were giving me, I quit smoking pot for about six months, and I quit the sleep medicine shortly after. These doctors are useless and I have to wonder if they even were trying to help me. They need to know the difference between someone really suffering from a real injury compared to someone just trying to get drugs.

      This is the problem with doctors....they get you on these drugs and never discuss your anxiety and other medicines that may help. Then just as you said....the patient feels hopeless and you cannot trust anyone these days. I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. You are not alone. Doctors need to treat us more like humans and less like addicts when they are the ones that hyper-prescribe. Prayers to you. 🙏🙏

    Totally disagree. I was diagnosed by multiple psychiatrists in the 80's (in my late teens/early 20's) with having severe panic disorder. I was put on SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs, and even some antipsychotics to treat my PD. All failed to work. I can't take beta blockers because of asthma.
    I got to the point where I couldn't work, go into stores or socialize, despite weekly therapy, EMDR, CBT.
    I was finally put on Xanax. It was a MIRACLE. I felt normal again. Not drugged, not slowed, slurred, not tired. Just normal.
    I have been on the same dose for decades.
    Some people need this drug to function normally when we have literally tried everything else.

      You got a good point I was taking Xanax unpescribed for extreme anxiety and insomnia at night, and adderall (prescribed) in the morning for my adhd, doing both of those I felt like the most positive, productive, friendliest soul on the planet… but you need to realize that benzos are meant to be temporary, psychiatrist don’t want you taking that over 8 weeks and it’s closely monitored, I didn’t know that at the time and suffered life threating withdrawals and became over the top dependent. It is a miracle drug prescribed but deadly if not taken responsibly or for an extreme amount of time. my main point is that it’s supposed to be temporary and you lean off of it safely. Happy to hear it worked for you and your enjoying life, keep working ❤️

    I have struggled with mental illness and my mental health since I was a kid. Before I even knew what those terms were. After years of depression, anxiety, and even an attempt to take my life, I never thought I would be able to live without SSRIs medications. I clung to them because it was the only thing that made my mind quiet, but it also made me a zombie. Microdosing has given me control of my mental health for the first time, and they essentially gave me my life back.

      Alprazolam may be taken with or without food. Take the lowest effective dose as directed by your doctor. Do not increase the dosage without your doctor's permission. Avoid operating machinery, driving, or performing tasks that require mental alertness while taking this medicine and remember this is a CZcams channel not your own doctor so any questions you feel (like many of us do) are unsure of then discuss the issues with the real person who is treating you face to face. Anyone can get ideas watching CZcams so have more belief in your doctor who is prescribing you as he /she has the prescription pad and he is the one in control. Sad fact that the doctor is the one not suffering and is in complete control but if your doctor for instance says to be tapered off than you have not much choice really but if he/she wants you to remain on the drug then he/she is doing only what he/she feels is best for you. As mentioned we do not really have any say as at the end of the day it is simply take it or leave it. Sadly with mental health it is us the patients who do not seem to have any choices and if we were celebrities with pots of money than we would be treated with more respect. Best of luck to you and all the patients on here who are suffering and if these doctors and consultants could experience what we do each day then they would understand. Best of luck!

    I have been taking .05mg 3 times a day for 28 years for Meniere's Disease. It is the only thing that has ever helped. It lessens the hyperacusis (where the world is just too loud to tolerate) and the tinnitus that is constant and so loud. The vertigo and nausea were so horrible. One .05 pill of alprazolam made it stop. I have no side effects and have never in all these years increased the dose. Some people need this drug and take it responsibly.
    I understand the warnings doctors give about many drugs, but the well-being of their patients should not be ignored. People who abuse these meds make those of us using them responsibly suffer in the wake of their addictions.

    I was prescribed xanax for anxiety in my early 20's. I was on it for over 35 years when all of a sudden doctors decided they no longer wanted to prescribe it. I stopped cold turkey and had several seizures and ended up in the ER. Coming off xanax was the worst withdrawal imaginable. After being off of it for awhile, I realized it was making my anxiety worse when it would start to wear off. After years of no longer using it my anxiety is pretty much under control.

      @user-jq9oo2tx8i Před 6 měsíci +2

      The same thing happened to my mother. If they wanted to wean you off of the Xanax safely, they should have gradually reduced the dosage. As a licensed doctor, they should fully understand that the 2 most fatal withdrawals are from alcohol and benzodiazepines. I don’t understand why they do this. They could cut you off stimulants or opioids cold turkey due to medical and safety concerns and you would go through withdrawals but they won’t kill you, benzodiazepine withdrawals can be life threatening. You should report the doctor that did this and leave them online reviews regarding “patient neglect” and “medical malpractice”. Sorry that you had to go through all of that.

    The fact that you think medications like Xanax shouldn’t exist and there’s better options out there, is very naive. There are some people out there that have PTSD from war and traumatic experiences that really need a benzo. They’re the only thing that works for some people. They were made to combat panic and anxiety and some people seriously need something like Xanax or klonopin etc.

Physical dependence means that their body does not function appropriately in the absence of Xanax. If a person has been taking Xanax for a long time and wants to come off it, they should speak with a healthcare professional to work out a safe method for discontinuing the drug. People may also experience negative effects when coming off Xanax after taking it for a long time. Talking with a doctor and following a discontinuation schedule can help avoid these symptoms. My admission should be as short as possible so as to not cause unnecessary trauma and there need to be more places that I can go to if I can’t go straight home when I’m ready to leave hospital. The power structures in inpatient settings also have to change, so that power is shared with people on the ward, particularly when they are from a marginalised group.

    Still apart of the 1% myself where it’s helped tremendously and gotten me thru crazy life situations stuff people have a hard time believing well it happened! So this stuff seems to do the trick. And it’s been years myself, I never asked for it at 16, but I’m not depressed, I’m just anxious, so I tried every damn other one, with terrible side effects. Xanax is awful if you don’t have access to it and your dependent on it, so I keep a days dose on me extra just in case. And I’m one too, where I don’t have family like that but I have a great woman by my side thru the past few years of figuring out where I need to be with it finally, but she hates pills, she didn’t have pills handed out in her country before she came, but, she sees the difference between me and others simply from both of our jobs even. And she knows I have seizures in the past unrelated to Xanax, so she makes sure I’m good even when I’m pushing my dose off just to push it off. I will say tho, I get more benefit now making myself be on halves of my dose, so instead of 1 mg I use .5 so half of one and I’ll wait to see if I need more later on, took awhile to lower my tolerance for it to work, but it for sure works better for me this way. But yeah to say people shouldn’t get it, they shouldn’t make it, well what about some rare drug for a non deadly disease? Should they not make tramadol or tylenol 3 for example, the weakest opioids imaginable? No cause people do need them.

To be fair, I can understand why some doctors may be reluctant to prescribe it to someone who has never been on them, but given the fact that you have already been taking this medication, it would be negligent for them to suddenly cut you off. Klonopin is great, longer half life and somewhat less habit forming too. It works good for me 👍

      @@AegonTheUnlikely I find I need more clonazepam to get the same results. Much prefer alprazolam. But it seems to depend on the individual.

      @@HitchHikersBlues yeah alprazolam definitely seems to hit the hardest but last the shortest and clonazepam and lorazepam feel pretty much the same to me personally

      @@AegonTheUnlikely yeah unfortunately Xanax does a have a fairly short half life and it's easily abused, but I wouldn't recommend it. The withdrawals can be woeful... I don't need to add mine man 😄 But it gets to work on me like no other Benzo that I know. I've found I need at least a ratio of 2:1 with clonazepam. Strange.

      You have to pretty much find a Psychiatrist to prescribe it these days... Most Normal Doctors won't prescribe Narcotics anymore.

    I totally agree with you, but along with the downsides, it was the only option for me to make a flight, couldn't solve it any other way although i tried a lot of ways. Now I am super happy, confident and flying is not a nightmare for me anymore

      I was on Xanax however a dumb psychologist took me off too fast and I got soooo sick and ended up having my body lock up and my wife called 911. I had a seizure in the hospital so the psychologist in the hospital put me on Valium. He also said what the previous dr did caused what happened to me. The Valium dose I’m on is great

    It works. I don’t use it often but unfortunately proprananol, hydroxyzine don’t work the same. If they invent an SSRI that doesn’t have sexual side effects I’ll take it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @user-jq9oo2tx8i
      @user-jq9oo2tx8i Před 6 měsíci

      I agree. Propranolol is a beta blocker that was originally intended to treat high blood pressure. If you use it for anxiety, it can cause dangerous decreases in your blood pressure. Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine. You essentially pay a psychiatrist for Benadryl which has minimal effects on anxiety. It seems like they push any pharmaceutical drug that isn’t a controlled substance because they know that they can’t get in trouble if it’s not a scheduled drug.
