15:38 theres actually a very good reason for this. The director lured Jack Palance into the set with pieces of moose jerky and then locked him in the room while he was distracted, and wouldnt let him leave until hed recorded a few scenes

You should do Weird West-a-thon. Billy the Kid vs Dracula, Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter... There's so much riffing potential in films that combine scifi and western themes. I'd especially like to see you review Beast of Hollow Mountain, it's sort of a prototype of The Valley of Gwangi, even having some input from Willis O'Brien.

The computers look more like Commodore Pets than Vic-20s. I think Honeywell must have negotiated to have a product placement for their line of terminals in this movie as they're everywhere.
I also find it amusing the best weapons the resistance on Delta 3 could come up with was a bunch of poles and stuff.
With the kind of materials and technology that's probably laying around you'd figure someone could make some improvised firearms, flame throwers, or some IEDs.

Oh the humanity! Wells never had it THIS bad! And this remark is coming from a guy whose introduction to the father of modern science fiction was - of all things - a BOY'S LIFE comic strip version of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS at age 10! Man, Wells film producers Alexander Korda and George Pal are SO sorely missed. And as much as Wells disapproved of Korda's finished 1936 film of THINGS TO COME (which Wells himself adapted from his own novel as screenwriter), he would have hated this even more had he lived to see the late 70's. Oh and as far as Canada's film scene goes, David Cronenberg remains THE greatest Canadian filmmaker of all time... well, in my opinion, anyway. Love the rock n' roll rendition of Canada's national anthem, by the way!

So the text scroll uses "it's" when "its" would be correct. Guess it really *was* prescient!

I'm with the blond lady at 10:00 - I wasn't feeling anything in this movie either. Turns out, it was killing brain cells.

17:36 And Blu-Ray!! The Blu just came out from Blue Underground; in fact, my pre-order arrived only a couple of days ago, an upgrade to their DVD. I MAKE POOR CHOICES
...Also, if you think THIS is cheap and boring and robs the dignity of a well-loved actor, I'd like you to meet a friend of mine named END OF THE WORLD (1977) with Christopher Lee.

If you want another Munro, see 'The Day the Earth caught Fire' with Janet Munro and Leo McKern. It is a good movie, no special effects but good acting. I highly recommend 'World Without End' With Rod Taylor and Hugh Marlowe and very pretty girls - prettier than those in today's movies, long legs, tall, short skirts, large hair do's and long legs etc but no nudity - made in the mid 1950's but set in the 25th century. One other made in 1960 'Beyond the Time Barrier' and set 64 years in the future - 2024. No special effects but pretty girls - or girl - and no memorable actors but a good Saturday Popcorn movie. One other is 'The Crawling Eye' or also known as 'The Trollenberg Terror' with Forrest Tucker - F Troop - and Janet Munro. Cheesy but still fun to watch made in 1958. If you haven't seen either of these, give them a try. Thank you for the great reviews of the movies - though like you said some of these movies were better off not being made or seen.

H G Wells’s The Shape of Things was ground breaking as an early perhaps the first Future History. It is my favorite of all his books - and yes - I have read the majority of his books. This movie was on late night TV when I was in high school. I stayed up for it… a bad decision. Things to Come is truer to the book, screen play by Wells, himself. However: the prints that survive are edits that left out the most interesting part of the film. There were Video copies of the longer version… Maybe someone will clean that up. The book, however, is too complex for even a mini series.

Artoo Detoo or the Black Hole robots. That robot looks like the one from Lost in Space.
