In the old days, we just treated the rust with zinc chromate and they touched up the OD paint with a paint brush. The white stars and bumper numbers had to be touched up with white paint every 3 months. Stenciling had to be blocked, no gaps. In late 74 we went to camo. Initially, the trucks were sprayed by Installation maintenance. Stars were no longer used and bumper markings turned to black. After that touch ups were done with a brush.

Rapco sells very good stuff but I wanted to keep it as cheap and easy to touch up as possible without having to store cans of paint. Also, I like the tire shine idea and it reminds me of a story my dad told me. I'll probably tell it again in a future vid but here it goes. While dad was stationed in Vietnam he and one of his buddies was washing up the M35s they had and his buddy decided to rub diesel all over the deuces he washed to make them shine. When his CO saw that he got chewed out and made to rewash all the trucks again because you don't want to stand out with a shiny truck when the VC are around.

mix rustoleum dark hunter green with rustoleum rusty red metal primer. Add the primer until you get the color you want. Then thin and spray or dare I say cut in and roll on with a foam roller.

But I'm struggling to find the right shade of coyote tan I want for a camo pattern. I tried samples of Rapco, but I'm not satisfied with their tan selection. In California you'll find A lot of ammo cans from Oceanside,Ca then look for tools, tool boxes etc... comming from French camp,ca...In the Midwest you'll start to find A lot of Military clothing, battle packs, boots etc...Then on the eastern part of the country you'll find Military cars, pick up trucks, deuces, 5 ton trucks and wreckers etc...
There is a guy in Lucerne,Ca who has a website as follows. www.100dollarman.com he sells the military 5/8 ton diesel pickups, and 6.2 liter diesel Broncos, he does have some 5ton Cat powered trucks and he does have some deuces, he also customizes and "Bob's" the deuces but havnt seen many on his website in some time now, he also makes custome wheels for the deuce for the use of the super single tires. you may want to send him an email.

I'm sure the 3M 2091 filter will work just fine, but be aware that the 2097 filters out the same size particles as well as nuisance levels of organic vapor. I don't know if the CARC paint has much odor but if it does or you know you are sensitive to such things, you may find the 2097 works better.

Charles Edwards my thought but maybe because it's so costly and it takes a full 24hours to dry youd need a really big car port to keep everything bug free bugs go jnto the lineing

Because that would cost over $2,000.

Sparta I actually did the math for doing it yourself comes out to about 830ish to 900 for the bedliner kit and the refiles and prep supply's 200 for the plastics and tape and the mask and the gloves

You could just use Rust-Oleum and repaint the whole truck

Wagner power sprayers are cheap, and much faster. Rustoleum paint provides better rust protection.

honesty I think when I finally get one of these trucks I'm just gonna rinoline the whole inside of the bed. It will be black and not match factory but it will last forever

I've thought about that as well. FYI - There are spray on bedliners that can be tinted like paint.

Unless you drape it too hard. I'm not a fan, the right set of circumstances and and little rust underneath can ruin the whole undercoating. And it is a shitballs thing to remove, I've been trying for months

For a brief instant I considered official UT Big Orange but I spent a year in the UT matching band and 5 years on the University of Tennessee campus. I'm still ok with a color other than orange but will admit that it's starting to creep back into my life.

I'd talk to these people and get one made the way you want it. grillwraps.com. Not a grill, but I'm sure they can whip something up.
