The individuals { piano teachers} find it's taking away their income. However not everyone can afford piano lessons. Maybe a person wants to share what he knows before they leave the earth. You can't take knowledge with you into the grave.

It is a good one of a kind guide for discovering how to play the piano like a pro minus the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.

Agree! Such a great, down to earth style of teaching that gives almost instant results. I often keep one lesson up for a week or more and only move on when I feel I have somewhat mastered or at least internalized that part of the lesson. There's a handful of good ones but he is definitely among ( if not the ) the very best for me.
Another fantastic exercise. Memorize this and you have SO much. Also, the more of these you do, the more the "fooling around" time is great -- it becomes easier and easier to play things that sound good.

I always return to you because I know that we share certain values about life and music. Your voice itself is a persuasive instrument. I have a smile when you use the word Thrilling. I need to look that up in German. I began in childhood with brass, changed to drums in my teens and now in my maturity it's all piano. I'm in love with the piano.

I can't wait to get home and work on this exercise! Even without watching the future videos, I know that I'll be able to easily adapt this to major 7, dominant 7, minor major 7th chords and more by just changing the 3rd and 7th.

Oliver!! You have changed my musical life forever in two short weeks! You are a beyond amazing teacher! I have since I found your channel only two weeks ago adopted several new habits, programmed all the pentatonic minor scales and can already switch between them quite well. I am tapping constantly and have spent several hours a day at my keyboard practicing all types of your wonderful stuff and have just begun. Learning this stuff has been a long time dream but I never knew who to ask and WHAT to ask about. Your lessons are uncovering principles that I have been unaware of for years. Mind you I have made a living thru music since the late 80's, "hustling" my keyboard playing when writting stuff. My Dad was a jazz head galore and I grew up hearing all the greats so to improve my ability to improvise has long been highest on my list of musical wishes. Finding your channel has shown me that there is still a chance for me to, with a ton of effort improve vastly. Your techniques have proved incredibly inspirational to me and are showing results really quickly. It is to me (at least) even massive fun to practice Thank You to No End Brother!!!!!

Coming back! I learned to sing two songs by Sophie Hunger (not really Jazz) while comping myself. Tacklimg some standards now. I use these chords all of the time playing my Hammond B3 I just never knew the names of them. I am using them in my right hand most of the time. My left hand chording is fairly weak. Great job breaking the theory down. I will absolutely use your exercises to enhance my organ playing. You definitely have a new subscriber here!
As we know from modes, simply starting on a different note is what colors the perception of the exact same notes. In this way you have shifted my perspective on what was there all along, which has opened new doors!

I love your style of teaching. It has helped me break free of the rigid bounds of my classical music education and focus more on improv and feeling free when I play.
How I practice my chords: First, practice the descending grips hands together. Once it is smooth, practice with chords in the left hand and bass in the right hand, and then with chords in the right hand and bass in the left hand. Say them out loud!
Every time I see new lessons, I think ... great, this is the best lesson he ever made... all the time. ... until the next.

Oliver, your lessons are just amazing !! As a teenager I played synthesizer. 25 years ago I bought a digital piano and practiced classical works. I have never really had piano lessons so I am a little self-taught. Sometimes I did my own improvisations. I have hardly played in the last 10 years. Recently I started playing the piano again, but I soon got tired of it. Until I came across your videos on CZcams. Man, this is really great. I thought about learning to play jazz for a while. Thanks to your videos, I am motivated to play the piano again. Yes, I really want to learn to play jazz on the piano! Jazz is so relaxing and fun to listen to. Amazing as always, thanks for changing the way I learn and enjoy music! Some things that helped me as a beginner:
1. First, I got a feel of the minor/major third intervals by playing them in every position, until I can play them without thinking
2. I found it easier to reason about Grip 1a (ma3-mi3-ma3) as thinking of it as a relative major chord (ma3+mi3) with an added third (maj7 chord).
Currently focusing on practicing the exercises, hoping for some more a-ha moments 😀

Shit dude, you just voiced almost THE EXACT SAME THING, except I've been playing music in one form or another-usually rock/pop, and on the guitar-for forty years! but it's only in the last year or so that I've been trying to umm, play, um *cocktail music* (because at 60 I will never be able to play real jazz on the piano!) so the learning curve has been incredibly steep.
It doesn't matter that I know the theory behind the music-it's getting my fingers to do the walking that's the hard part. And since CZcams has become such an excellent source of knowledge-depending MUCHLY on where you get it-it has now become possible to have it be your teacher.
So far, though, I've found mostly horribly recorded amateurish productions, where the pianist will place his regrettably bad microphone somewhere in the room, aim the camera somewhere at the random keyboard and then spend 90% of the video (I kid you not-that would be MOST of the instructional videos on YT) talking.
This nice Scandinavian gentleman has not only graced us with an incredible rich baritone but also an expertly placed mike, with excellent stereo sound on headphones (always a consideration in a household where not everyone wants to learn jazz piano), brilliant and easy-to-read graphics-extremely well done, I might even say professionally done-and that hypnotic voice.
I don't know if my fingers will do what I tell them but I'm sure going to have fun trying, right here on this channel!
