Recalibration of the Bronco's Speedometer using ForScan for those Larger Tires - How hard can it be?

  • Today we are using ForScan to input the bigger sized tires’ circumference. Stock tires had a circumference of 2475 mm.
    You can do this 2 ways. You can input the tire size information into a tire calculator and it will give you a number (it may not be exact).
    Or you can do it the way Jill is going to do it with string, tape, and a tape measure. Always do a control speed test. We used a gps speedometer on my phone that jill held while I drove for each test run.
    Jill is doing most of this video by herself again. She will physically take a measurement with string, lay it out straight on the ground without stretching it, and measure it, then convert inches into millimeters (because ForScan and computers in vehicles uses millimeters) and get the new number - which was 2737.
    Set up the ForScan to the steps shown in the video, get to Body Control Module - the one without AS FROM FACTORY next to it. Either double click or hit the play button. The screen will pop up with a FILTER option. Type in TIRE. Hit enter. The three things for tire will pop up - click the MIDDLE one. Input your new tire millimeters size in, hit the check mark and then write, the computer you are typing on will ask you to cycle it. Do so. Do a test run. And let us know how you made out!
    It took us a couple of tries, but we ended up at 68.9 mph and we are good with that. We think the magical number for the Big Bend is 2618 mm.
    Well, hope you like the video, please like, subscribe, hit the bell icon so you don’t miss an upload, drop a comment down below, and if you want to contact us - feel free to DM us on Instagram or reach out to us via website.
    See you on the next one! Bye!

    You guys are great. It's great the way you take care of each other. I see it this way: "In the A-6 Intruder of life, I am the pilot and my wife is the bombnav. I make it go hot, fast and low, and she punches in the coordinates of where we are going." Wouldn't have it any other way.

    Finally going to try this with mine. I have watched a dozen videos, all on the 2021 I have heard Ford encoded the GOAT modes differently for the 2022 so I cannot enable them but at least I can get the speedo closer. went from the 32" to 35" and maybe eventually go to 37" Thanks for making it so clear (The vehicle back up file most videos were not clear on)

      hmm - we do not have a 22 to try and forscan on it to enable all 8 modes.... You may need to check out the forums. Check Bronco Nation or Bronco6g

    Thanks for the video!
    I wonder if you're supposed to use the mean usable tread as circumference rather than full/new tread. It would been more accurate that way since the tire loses circumference over time.

    • @1Five1Garage
      @1Five1Garage  Před 2 lety +1

      Even with the correct circumference we still have to adjust the number to correct the Speedo to match gps.

      We got a power train fault / 4x4 drive fault after changing the tire size. However, people have gotten it for no reason n it also went away on its own too. So idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @tobinorillion3337
    @tobinorillion3337 Před rokem +1

    I also got the same 4x4 fault right when I changed my tire size. I was going to revert back to the originally saved profile so I connected to forscan again and clicked "yes" when asked if I wanted to load a previous profile, but it just ended there and nothing changed. Any thoughts?

    • @1Five1Garage
      @1Five1Garage  Před rokem

      there have been people on different forums who said they suddenly got the fault with no forscan anything done - and it went away on their own. we still have our fault on the screen lol waiting for it to go away but I think we may have to pay a couple hundred bucks to have the dealership clear it. idk to b honest. check out the forums - bronco nation and bronco6g (where we originally found it some months back)

    Soooo how many functions does ForScan do ? I know it shuts off annoying buzzers & alarms. Is it around 100 $ too ? like the stop the auto stop ( fuel ). If I had a Bronco on order I'd buy 1 of each gizmo.

    is the measurement a straight line on a graph from 0 to 70 mph or is it a curve where it is only accurate at 70 mph and might be say 38 at 35 mph

    So I've heard it said recently that tapping into the computer on your vehicle with Forscan automatically sends a message to Ford motor company and that they can and will void warranties over certain modifications. Anything more to share about this?

      I believe the comment was made in a reply to a comment made at the T&C TV CZcams channel site and that the reply was from T&C Ford. I'm trying to find it again, but was struck by the degree of connectedness/trackability being "baked into" cars these days. While I'm sure there are advantages, but I'm also concerned about the potential intrusion on privacy and potential hacking that may come with it.

    • @davidroberts5600
      @davidroberts5600 Před 2 lety

      The law requires a warranty provider prove a modification caused the issue under claim. They can't void a warranty outright.
      However, and this is part is speculation. A bigger tire could cause an issue and they could use that to deny a claim.

    Did your 4x4 fault ever go away? Just did the tire size and have the 4x4 fault. Thought about doing a battery disconnect to see if that fixes it.

      @1Five1Garage  Před rokem +1

      Lol nope! We still have that beautiful warning light on the dash lol even after the ForScan …battery disconnect didn’t. We put the aux switches in and disconnected the battery because we had to install the new fuse box, still there.

      Don't know if you got the answer to the issue, but I had the same thing last night. After inputting the new circumference, you need to go do a relearn in the AWD module. The 4x4 issue will go away after running that.

    I took my bronco to the dealership , they used forscan to change the tire size, but i lost my cruise control as a result. Brought it back to my for dealership and since they could not figure it out, they restored the original computer setting and refunded me, leaving my computer set for 32 inch stock wheels. Has anyone else lost cruise control after the tire size change ?

      We have not, but we have a 4x4 fault. However, bronco6g forums said ppl have had the same fault we do and they never used forscan but it eventually went away on its own so I really don’t know if this one will vanish or if I need to clear it.

    If the sasquatch circumeference of 2653mm got you to 68.9mph and the vehicle read 70mph, then you would need to change that 2653 to ~2695mm. (68.9/70)=(2653/x)

      @@1Five1Garage no no, it's not a joke. You take the OD and multiply it by .967 and that compensates for the squish factor of the tire's flat contact patch. My f150 has 275/65/20 with a 2718mm OD. 2718mm x .967 = 2628mm, put 2628mm in forscan and my speedometer is accurate.
