Went through like 50 videos. This video has lead me to the culprit that's keeping my brake light on. I put a like on this video as a reward for helping me. This was the only video that showed me why my 3rd brake light wont turn off. Thanks
Thank you, I was heading toward a switch issue to take care of wifey's 2012 Sorento but with 3 pennies and some duct tape, she's golden. The response to me was "who the hell are you, MacGyver" ? She doesn't need all those details 🙂 GREAT JOB!
Oh my gosh what a life saver you are. It’s dark out and 90 degrees. I see the grommet on my floor so I used a nickel. Worked perfect. I didn’t know how to turn the brake light off, figured I was gonna drain my battery! Thanks from a Single Mom
Thanks! I had the “lights on all the time” problem, couldn’t get my old ass under there to look😢, so got wife to look. She didn’t know what to look for. Started shopping for switch, came up on your video, showed her and told her to look for the spacer…she found it in pieces on the floor! Problem Identified. Made new spacer from a faucet washer with the body of a pop rivet pushed through the hole for positioning pin. Puta little RTV on it, stuck it to bracket, and that was a wrap! Your video was well made, good lighting, clear picture and great explanation! So, thanks again for your efforts! Dave Chaney, Baton Rouge La
Great explanation and very helpful. My Kia would randomly ignore throttle response and the lights were stuck on. Just as you mentioned, the broken part was on the floorboard. Saved tons of time.
Thanks! Exactly what I needed to see. The grommet on my Sorento is nowhere to be found, but at least I knew what part to order after seeing this. Video is close-up and clear, sound is good without any music playing in the background! Thanks Again!!
Omg thank you so much!!! My battery was getting drained from the lights being on 2 Pennie’s later and they’re off! The parts are super cheap to replace too! Thank youuu single mom
Thanks so much! Found the broken rubber piece on the floor, popped it in and it'll work till I make a more permanent solution. Saved my gf a dead battery in the morning!
This was so helpful! Worked like a charm in my 2013 Sorento. Used the Pennie’s and off it went. Now just have to find that piece that’s missing. Thank you very much for this video!
Thank you soooo much for the info. Just like you said the little plastic piece was laying on the mat. You saved me a headache. The plastic piece split apart so i glued it back together and then glued it to where it’s supposed to mount. Temporary fix until i find a replacement part.
Thanks to this video my issue happen to be just the grommet falling out and it was just sitting on the floor I put it back on and break lights are now off when my car is off 😆 thanks 🙏🏻
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for. Very clear instruction and video, and easy to follow. Well done! A quick question...... Is this method the same for my dad's 2015 Sorento, also? Thanks very much!
the broken bits are exactly where you said: yellowed, disintegrated, on the floor board. some small object goes there for now but it sure looks like one of those rubber feet for a stool might do the trick.
As predicted the broken part was found on the carpet of the drivers side. Temporary fix with black tape and a nickel while I order a new switch and broken part. The switch is still working but the end of the plunger looked worn so it is getting replaced. Fixed after one youtube video. Thanks
From reading all the comments, it appears everyone is going with a MacGyver solution. I can't find a name or part number for the broken bumper/grommet/washer thing. Also no picture of what the original part looked like. I don't mind spending quite a bit more than a nickel, but I don't know what to order.
thank you for your helpfull video. could you help me to resolve this problem with my kia sorento 2012: the third stop (in the middle) break light work only when night lightd are turned on. thanks
I had a question..my third brake light was staying on and so I did find the old grommet was on the floor board but my two tail lights were turning off. So when I replaced the grommet the third brake light turn off when the car was off. But now all three lights won't come on when i press the brake pedal!! Does this make sense? Any suggestions
Thanks for very informative tutorial. I have checked both the fuse and replaced the switch. Still the brake light do not work. Also the lights for the license plate and the fog lights do not work. Any suggestions?
@ spy, you should find a small hole just below shifter and (Mine does it occasionally) carry a small thin screwdriver, and when it happens just stick in and a little button will push back in. , I don't know why it happens, but it does. Oh, foot on brakes and then start like usual. It's called a shift "Lock release" czcams.com/video/jnixn9Lq2qQ/video.htmlsi=9FfE0QY48l-I5wWD
Plse help i have Kia seranto 2015 i have a error C2130 says brake lamp relay error. Where is the brake lamp relay located and how do i change it? Plse help i have no brake lights and only this car!
Thanks so much for this! The brake lights in my '12 Sorento stayed on after I got home from work early this morning, and the cause was exactly what you showed at the start. That off-white plastic grommet cracked and fell apart. I found it in pieces on the floor mat. Is replacing that grommet part easy?
my brake light won't turn on when I press the pedal what could it be bulb are new they light up but the second part of the bulb won't get brighter when I press
I found if that the fuse is pulled out, you can't start the Sorento. If it's already running, THEN you pull the fuse out, then you can't take it out of park.
Hey Dude. Nice greetings from Germany. I have a problem and not break lights at all. All fuses were checked. And software device plugged to the car. It said that the emergency break light relais is defect. So i changed it. Still no break lights. Today i changed the pedal switch. Still no break lights. Can you help me out?
That yellow plastic bumber that the brake light plunger rests on will disintegrate on almost ALL Kias after 10 years or more. I've already relaced them on my 2009 Rondo, 2011 Sorento and a friend's 2011 Forte. Just find a piece of plastic or any other hard material about 1/8 inch thick and cut into a circular shape 1/2" wide and hot glue or epoxy in place!

Best video ! 55yo lady was able to figure this out because of your tutorial. Thank you for that. 🎉

Thank you!
Thank you for the fix; it worked. Now for the big question: the radio has no sound...dealer wants way too much $$$ any ideas

Thanks for very informative tutorial. I have checked both the fuse and replaced the switch. Still the brake light do not work. Also the lights for the license plate and the fog lights do not work. Any suggestions?
Might wanna check the bulbs..
Found the broken rubber piece on the floor, just fix it with 2 penis
Thank you so much
I have 2015 kia sorento and I have brake lights until I turn my lights on at night then I have no brake lights. You got any ideas what's wrong?
You turned nut COUNTERCLOCKWISE, not CLOCKWISE. It is a NYLON Washer, not RUBBER washer.
Thanks. The blown fuse caused Kia to unable to shift as well

My two bottom break lights in my Kia Soul won’t turn on at all. The top middle light does. Is this considered a fuse issue or the stop lamp switch ?
did you figure it out? mine is giving the same issue i’m exhausted don’t know what it is. my break lights won’t turn in at all
Thanks so much for this! The brake lights in my '12 Sorento stayed on after I got home from work early this morning, and the cause was exactly what you showed at the start. See my response I added just a few posts earlier.
Rubber stopper on the brake pedal. Thx
My brake pedal won't go downt to start. What could've the problem
Hi i have put a new brake light switch but still staying on
my brake light won't turn on when I press the pedal what could it be bulb are new
they light up but the second part of the bulb won't get brighter when I press
Is this what would prevent your vehicle from getting out of park?
I found if that the fuse is pulled out, you can't start the Sorento. If it's already running, THEN you pull the fuse out, then you can't take it out of park.
What if our new fuse and fuse keeps popping everytime starts?
2018 kia sorento break lights won't come on a top hatch light comes on blinkers work

Hello, did you figure it out? i’m having the same issue don’t know what else to check

With 1000's of different, more durable plastics to use to make that bumper out of, Kia did a huge brainfart by choosing the material they did!!!!
Remove clockwise, spins it counterclockwise.
my issues not start the starter
My tail lights dont turn on but brakes do
counter clockwise for the bottom nut.
He’s doing it clockwise in the video
Right tight.. left loose

Thank you
