I feel like the first frozen had a simple story that was easy to follow, while the second one had a weird story that required a retcon of the entire first one. Not to mention that the second one would have better if it wasn't connected to frozen 1 and had its own characters

Yes! I absolutely agree with everything you just said. Frozen 1 is so great because it’s a simple story about two sisters who wanted to be with each other more than anything. But Frozen 2 was so freakin awful. It tried to tell a weird convoluted story that introduced so much extra stuff that didn’t need to be added in the first place. It literally created a new story and changed all the characters and made them all OOC. By changing the overall narrative, they ultimately retconned and undid Frozen 1. F2 feels nothing like the first film. It would’ve made more sense if it was part of a different franchise and wasn’t connected to Frozen at all. The two Frozen shorts (Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure) were better sequels to Frozen than F2.

I think the part when Anna she says "No, no... I'm completely ordinary" is pretty clever actually. The pause hints that she was going to say "I'm not a monster" and the way she says "completely ordinary" is kinda stilted too, as if she was looking up for a word to say instead of "normal", all to avoid implying that Elsa is a monster or abnormal.

I've always loved the opening sequence, It gave me chills as a child and still does. I like how It starts the story from a far and slowly drifts to the main deal. Also I love how I can almost feel the cold in this movie and this scene would really set me in that cool(the literal way) mood.

18:31 if you watch closely you can see that Hans looked at the chandelier before running to "save" her, I have a theory that he wanted her to die but make it look like an accident so he looks like a good guy in front of the soldiers. I also believe he wanted to make everyone in Arendell trust him, because otherwise it would be weird of them to give him the throne. Also in the song open doors you can notice that he isn't singing about loving Anna but about him finding his own place - "[Hans:]
I was thinking the same thing! 'Cause like
I've been searching my whole life to find my own place" and there- "[Hans:] I found my place...
[Anna:] I see your face..." while looking at the castle.
It's also mentioned in the conversation they had about how Hans has 12 brothers and no chance of getting the throne sooo

This would be an inhumanly quick thinking: analyzing all of the consiquences of the candelier killing Elsa instead of the soldier in one second? And it doesn't matter anyway: if tge soldier killed Elsa - everything would be just like Hans wanted. He already showed himself as a good person, everybody already believe that he's good, and Elsa would be killed. If he wanted to save her to bring back summer and then kill her - then okay (thought he said "kill Elsa and bring back summer" - why are you suddenly so sure that killing her will bring back summer?! You don't know how her powers work, maybe killing her will destroy your only chance to bring back summer!), but trying to kill her with the candelier when pretending that you did not notice the soldier aiming an arrow at her - no, this is ridiculous.

@@user-fl8qj9iw1k It is quick thinking but this is animation and they took the time to show him looking up and then yanking the crossbow up. Elsa's parents didn't lock her up. You'll see they actually try to interact with her and her father tries to give her the gloves to help her hide her powers while around others, but it's Elsa who isolates herself. She was the one who was so consumed with fear that she thought she'd hurt everyone and didn't want to interact with her parents or Anna. Her parents didn't exactly know how to deal with crazy magic powers and the advice they got from the trolls wasn't super helpful and only led to Elsa becoming a depressed anxious mess so it's hard to blame them for not knowing exactly how to help Elsa.

The point of Elsa “regaining power to thaw the winter” isn’t due to her lack of skill, but to her emotions. Anna’s act of true love thawed Elsa’s “ice” walls around her heart. As she was raised to fear herself and not be able to show her truest self to her sister, she didn’t feel that she could be around her without losing control. It’s not that she couldn’t control it. It’s that she couldn’t control her emotional state and fear.
Also! In fixer upper there is a ton of foreshadowing as to how the frozen heart can be thawed!
“People make bad choices when they’re mad or scared of stressed” is EXACTLY like Elsa and signals how Elsa can “regain” control.

The prince Hans twist isn’t stupid, it’s genius. The huge red flag is that he wants to marry her immediately, even tho he just met her. It flies over most people’s heads because it’s a classic Disney trope, and we don’t question it anymore
it’s brilliant. Because in real life that would be a red flag the size of Mount Everest.

The soundtrack for this film is amazing. Frozen Heart is sort of an outline for the entire theme of the film. How to build a snowman is probably my favorite song of the film. Love is an open door upbeat and catchy and works perfectly for the characters. And yes, I have both In Summer and Fixer upper on my playlist, Even some of the deleted songs are pretty great. And Let It Go was just so amazing it made people start to hate it out of sheer spite of it's awesomeness. Yeah the thing w/ Hans doesn't make a whole lot of sense (I'm a big fan of the film theory that the Trolls actually altered his mind like they do w/ Anna at the start of the film to get him out of the way and let Christoff edge in on Anna) but its still an amazing presentation from Disney.
Too bad they never made a sequel to this film. Imagine what they could have done with these characters!

To be fair, there was 1 specific hint that set up the Hans plot twist (that I can remember from the top of my head). It's verry smal though, so it's no suprise most people missed it.
It's when he "saves" Elsa from beeing shot. You see his eyes land on her, than on the guy about to shoot her, and than up to the chandelier above Elsa. He than rushes to the guy, directing the arrow intentionally at the chandelier. Not the ceiling, not the floor, or the side. Directly bulld eye at the chandelier. Something that would eather knock Elsa out (which it did), or kill her considering it was directly above her.
But yeah, that was the only pretty direct hints I could remember.

i never saw hans as that much of a twist. he worked just like any narcisist would irl. the falling in love part was so comically fast and blind, love bombing her, going from just meeting to "you are the love fo my life this is what i've been looking for, which a lot of people acuse old disney movies of doing, but really hans barely knew anna, and it really had a "i gotta go fast" feeling to it lol, (if you've been with a narcisist or someone with borderline personality disorder, you'll understand this feeling, it goes from 0 to 100 and you feel like they aren't really in love with you but the idea of you, and if you are naive or with honey moon syndrome lol, you will fall for it, it's super common) focusing on his goals and rushing. And there is something common called "cognitive empathy"; you understand social "transactions", and how listening or helping others will bring a positive reaction out of them, and may get you what you want later on. it can and does very quickly turn into a manipulation tactic since you don't empathize at an emotional level, but rather a "technical" or "transactional" one.
Could they have hitned at it more? yes, of course. Maybe we could have gotten a glimpse at how he could, for example, help someone else but in his thoughts he's just proud of his heroism and what it will get him and not the subject or victim themselves. Or some more glanses from his POV at the throne, no words needed really.

Great video! I loved watching this. It’s nice to see someone actually show some love and appreciation for Frozen. I can see why people think it didn’t deserve to get THAT much attention, but it definitely doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.
One thing I do want to say is that while the songs do decline a bit after Let it Go, I still think they’re solid. “Reindeers are better than people” is simple and meant to be like a lullaby. It’s not meant to be grand like the other songs.
“In Summer” is a perfect way to introduce Olaf as a character and what he’s like.
“For the first time in Forever” (reprise) may not be as memorable as the original one, but there’s so many great things about it. Firstly, it’s the first official in-person duet between Anna and Elsa. I love how it shows the differences between Elsa’s and Anna’s personalities, similar to how the original did, but this time, they’re expressing their feelings and struggles to each other. I think it’s unfair to get upset over the fact that Elsa is becoming insecure again during this song and thinking it undoes Let it Go. Here’s the thing: Let it Go wasn’t Elsa letting go of all her insecurities. It was about Elsa no longer having to live in fear of hurting her loved ones. Therefore she could use her powers freely. However, she is not completely free because deep down she still wants to be with her sister and kingdom. In Let it Go, Elsa comes to terms with herself and accepts that she can’t live a normal life with her sister and kingdom. She wants to stay close to Anna but thinks her powers make it impossible for her. She tried to conceal it, but when her powers unleashed, it was out of control, so she ran away to protect her people, not to run from her problems like so many people insist. So when she finds out during the reprise that her kingdom is in danger, she becomes insecure because she really cares about her people and thinks that she’s an irredeemable monster who’s mere existence will threaten everyone. She can still use her powers freely in the mountains, but she’s consumed with fear because her loved ones are in danger because of her, so she constantly punished herself. Her learning the truth about her kingdom is important for her character development. Elsa learns she can’t isolate herself. It was through Anna’s love for her by the end where she overcomes that fear and learns to control her powers and can finally be herself. This allows her to finally have that life she always wanted. She no longer has to live in isolation and can finally be with her sister and kingdom.
I do agree that “Fixer Upper” is kind of meh, but I liked one lyric that foreshadowed the ending. Apart from that, it’s filler.
The Hans twist really caught me off guard. He’s an okay villain, but he’s not meant to be the main antagonist. The story is focused on the sisters. His villain arc is important for Anna’s character development. She learns that she can’t be too open and trusting of everyone.
Still love your analysis. Frozen really is a great movie, one of the best Disney films. Some people think Elsa would’ve been better off as a villain, but I disagree. I’m really glad Elsa turned out the way she did. She’s one of the best Disney characters, and probably in the top 3 Disney princesses, at least in Frozen 1.
I would love to hear your thoughts about the sequel. I also thought the second one was garbage.

You’re not the only one, trust me. I love the first Frozen so much, but I honestly despise the second one. I wish the sequel never existed. I do love the Frozen shorts that came out between the two movies because they actually felt like better sequels than F2. Honestly, F2 was so bad it hurts. I don’t want to hate it because I really like Frozen 1, but I can’t defend the sequel for how garbage it is

  • @andreasmeelie1889
    @andreasmeelie1889 Pƙed rokem +2

I really love the songs in this movie including that repeat of First Time in Forever with Anna and Elsa which I founded to be pretty awesome but yeah Reindeers are Better than People, In Summer, and Fixer Upper, I love but I'm not too crazy about.
While I do love Let it Go and First Time in Forever a lot as my main favorites, Let it Go being my favorite and First Time in Forever being my second favorite, in my opinion the songs from the second movie are so much better!
I honestly got more addicted to the second album of Frozen rather than the first. :)
Oh and while I do agree that the build up of Hans being a bad guy should have been handled way better.
Hans didn't actually try to save Elsa he actually hit that chandelier trying to kill her but he did it in a way to act like he was trying to save her.
I'm actually surprised that nobody caught onto him being the bad guy since he did hit the chandelier with the arrow in the first place but it still stands he fooled everybody including Elsa herself.
Also I never once actually thought about Olaf being the one to do the act of true love with Anna it's a very good point.
Still I could also see the whole act of true love part having to be acted upon by Anna herself which is exactly what she did to save her own sister, Elsa, from getting viciously killed by Hans.
The movie should have explained that more, in my honest opinion, especially after the fact.
Also that Frozen Heart song I can see why can be unfitting in a lighthearted movie like Frozen but hey that movie takes itself pretty seriously too so I can see why that movie fits just as much. :)

I don't quite see how they connected the very obviously Scandinavian setting to the land being taken from natives in the sequel. Specifically a parallel to the Americas. Maybe I'll figure it out if I actually watched the movie but I cannot care enough to watch basically 99% of all movies.

Wouldn’t it make more sense if Kristoff was the twist villain? I mean, he had more motivation to kill Elsa, obviously because with her around his life’s work would be deemed useless, not to mention he has WAY less chemistry with Anna than Hans did.

One thing that always bothered me (there’s plenty but this one’s the worst imo) is
when she froze the whole land
wouldn’t it mean she could’ve also killed a bunch of people instantnly? Imagine someone’s kid was swimming in a river and now the kid’s frozen and dead, or for example a bunch of miners getting trapped. The whole kingdom should totally despise Elsa and there’s no way the things would resolve this quickly and easily, if at all.
