    Very nice fish, well done. Thanks for the visuals of the river and the inspiration. I’m headed over for February and March to try they Spey, Tay, and Dee. This was great info for my research.

      Thank you. Glad you enjoyed. I’m only an amateur. That’s video editing and fishing 🤣🤣

    Nice! Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I've not fished that beat yet but it's on my list. Encouraging to see it producing fish!

      Thanks to be honest they are a wee compilation of clips from a couple of trips a couple of years ago. Wasn’t great with the GoPro then so missed some nice footage. Only a amateur compared to your very professional videos though!! I am improving a little each time 🤞🤞Ballindalloch is a lovely stretch of water and nice variety of pools too.

      @@stephensmyth9730 I've Ballindalloch Castle but not the lower beats yet. In fact I'm on the Castle water in a couple of weeks. It's hard sometime to concentrate on fishing and working the cameras hey. I've cursed myself heaps of time for missing the moment but the fishing is what is most important hey

      Yeah sometimes the cameras get in the way of the fishing!! Nice to capture those good days though when they happen 👍

    Ah,springers on the Spey,on the fly,wonderful.
    Safe wading and more coming to the fly in May!!!
    I,ll be grafting and hoping further south on the Eden,....and have one for my efforts from the Tweed....on a Gledswood,...what was your fly?
    Better than 2020,21 and great to be out in the spring in the water.
    Could be tempted to come north one year!

      Clips on the video are not from this year Simon. They are from a couple of previous trips although both in May. Wasn’t great with the GoPro then so a lot of good stuff missed! Love the Spey! Couple of mates are going now in a couple of weeks time but unfortunately I can’t go for family reasons. Tight lines 🤞

    There was a black ferryman many years ago.

    It’s Blacksboat, not Blackboats .lovely water though. Known it for years.

      You are correct Nicholas. Thanks for pointing that out. Am I right in saying that the pool below blacksboat bridge is called the boat pool and not the bridge pool as what I’ve labelled it as on the video? Absolutely lovely stretch of water.

    Was'nt it named after a black ghillie or more likely boatman. thats what I was told does anybody know the story?

    • @stephensmyth9730
      @stephensmyth9730  Před 2 lety

      Not sure how it was named Peter. There is an old railway station nearby of the same name though. The line is no longer in use

    There is only one true reaction to losing a fish.

    • @stephensmyth9730

      Apologies for the language! Had fished solid for 2 days and the line hadn’t tightened once. Then just as I was about to pack it in for the day I hooked this fish. It was a big fish too. Probably well into double figures. Sure that’s why we love salmon fishing!!!

    I don't understand why you need such a heavy rod to land such light fish especially in that kind of water
    You are completely over gunned

    • @bjornchristiansson2827
      @bjornchristiansson2827 Před rokem +1

      Are you serious?
      He is not over gun in any way!
      I did fish a lot in just river Spey and we use 15-15,6' 10/11# and that's not over kill in spring we cast big copper tube of 1,5-3" try that whit a 12' and 7/8# line good luck.
      And as you use longbelly lines of 50-80' head then a long rod is helping you make casting easy.

      @stephensmyth9730  Před rokem

      Agree entirely. We seen a few fish well into double figures on the Spey. Good luck playing one of them on switch rod 🤣🤣. Also the rods and lines we used were based on the advice of our ghillie who has been on the Spey for years
