Thank you for the tips. It's useful. I just dabbed my watercolour brush pens into water. The color leaked out and I have to paint for a while for the color to come back. I would like a tutorial to achieve a flat wash with watercolor brush pens
I think it might be easier to achieve a graduated wash. Getting a flat wash even in traditional watercolor is pretty tricky and requires you to mix up a lot of paint and water first.

There are a few big very famous named artists that uses watercolor on canvas just for the softer look, all her paintings are everywhere, and her how to books and classes etc.. plus many have found that using clear gesso on a regular coloring books, reg, paper, bibles and so fourth , get beautiful results from the watercolor brush pens. So although watercolor may have meant to be used only on treated watercolor paper, there are famous names youll find on youtube of their work and how well it turns out. So when it comes to experimenting and tips, and tutorials you'll see watercolor pens in a different way. Happy painting!

Is it just me or did anyone else had trouble understanding what she said because of the loud music. The video was very helpful but i couldnt hear anything clearly at the end.
I got alycoco brush pens from Amazon and I thought maybe they were just shitty and dry and resemble regular markers too much. I knew ahead of time that they r definitely not meant to be used as markers so that confused me that what came out really resembled a marker streak. I’ll try these! Thank you!
well you helped me a lot, i order some markers thinking they were alcohol based and when they arrived i noticed and since then they have been stored until today, i did not know how to used them but thanks a lot!
Hi I can't use the alcohol ink pens 😢😢😢. I have the worst headache and all my muscles tense up. I also can't breathe. I would love to able to use them. Have fun learning how to use them

I don’t have watercolors but I wanna try it!
I have the Faber Castell watercolor markers, I have a habit of using them raw with no water and I love the pigment, however both ways tend to tear the paper and when you add water even more and I'm using heavy watercolor paper
I have the same experience with those FC w markers.I am a beginner, but what I have learn so far, is that one need smoot surface paper for those. Need to get such paper.
Hi see if you use the hot press watercolor paper. Just an ideal and I pray that it works for you.

My mom just got me a set by "prestigify", so far they're not nearly as smooth as my other watercolor sets and they keep shredding the watercolor paper I have, but they're kinda fun hopefully I can learn to use them
I still feel like a compact street sketching watercolor kit wins out in all the ways you said were advantages of water color markers.

Watercolor paper is great for them but you may also use mixed media sketchbooks which you can find pretty cheap at Walmart or Michael's

Are these watercolor brush pens useful for bible journaling or will they bleed through?
The biggest misconception is that these are watercolour pens!
They are *waterbased* pens made with water and dye ink. This makes them water reactive but it is not watercolour paint.

What I don't understand about these pens is the wasted money for..nothing (?). If you buy let's say for 15 dollar there are alread good solid dried watercolor palettes and you also use a water tank brush you get the same outcome but you don#t have to hold 2 tools or blend them together to draw @@ I don't really understand
