Hi, thanks for the video! I have a question, hope you can help me. I'm using the same setting but the lowest I can go with the ISO is 800. if I go lower the video is too dark. I'm am using a 3 way light set up with light boxes (85W bulb). now testing a new set of 2 Godox LED260C. camera is Canon 650D with a standard 18-55. hope you can help tnx
Get a lens with a wider aputure so for example sigma 18-35 1.8

QUESTIONS FOR EVERYONE WHO KNOWS : I already lock my shutter speed at double from my frame rate, attach ND filter, set aperture wide open, let the ISO automatically adjusted, but I feel that the video is too much motion blur. When I pan or tilt a bit quick - fuzzy, hard to see. Should I increase my frame rate to above 60?
No, The motion blur occurs when you have low shutterspeed, its a rule to have shutterspeed double the fram rate but it often needs to be adjusted for videos that you have quick motions.

what ND FILTER brand is this? i am looking for it in the description i cant find it.
If you're walking with the camera, even ninja walking, 1/50s is just too blurry, you have to bump that up to something like 1/200s in order for catalyst browse or warp stabiliser to be able to work, they can't stabilise your footage if most of your frames have heavy motion blur. So what are your suggestions for vlog style videos with walking and other handheld movement (without adding a gimbal)?
Also you are losing quite a lot of dynamic range using ISO100 in video, the native on A7SIII is 640 and 12,800 - anything above or below these 2 natives will lead to loss of dynamic range (the loss is greater the more you deviate from the natives).

I think I might do a full studio setup tour soon to walk through all of this. For static tighter shots like this, I'm at 35mm @ about six feet and for the wider shots on the channel I'm at 24mm @ about three feet👍
What about white balance? Do you adjust manually as well based on Kelvin, go with auto, use a preset profile, or set a custom white balance?
If I'm in a constant setup, like the studio, I set my white balance manually. But if I'm on the move constantly, then I go for auto wb👍

David great video. If you don't own a ND filter, any suggestion on setting? Should I leave the ISO on Auto all the time? And what focal length do you use?
If you're not using an ND filter, you'll need to adjust your aperture to reduce the light intake. You won't be able to do it with ISO alone. Without an ND filter, I would leave it in Shutter Priority with your ISO set to auto. That'll ensure that you're sticking to the 180 rule and allow your camera to handle the rest of the work👍

@davidmanning do you use auto focus when vlogging? I'm using a 5d mark 4 with the 24-70 or a 50, but I get a lot of the noise from the lens when using the Rode VideoMicro. What should I do?

Your camera automatically adjusts the ISO to maintain a proper exposure 👍

Great information for shooting indoor, or relatively stationary outdoor, video. What settings (when used with a VND) would you recommend for outdoor "higher speed" movement, such as when shooting sports, jet ski racing, etc? Also, what about when shooting with a GoPro (GoPro 8 Black), say, when mounted onto an RC boat, where an ND filter can't be used?
