Doing the thing I hate! Running.

  • I hate running. So I ran today.
    It sucked, but I did it.
    I’m proud of the fact I did what I didn’t have to do and don’t enjoy doing.
    My brain will thank me later.
    A lot of us say we don’t have will power or motivation.
    Willpower is a skill that can be practiced. It’s built by doing things we don’t want to do.
    The cool thing about doing what we don’t want to is that we build evidence that points to our character and that is one who does hard things, overcomes obstacles, and keeps their commitment.
    That’s how we build an identity of someone who has will power and overcomes challenges.
    And for me, learning how and why things are the way they excites me because I then know what mechanism to focus on and what steps to take.
    That’s why I love science.
