    SOMETHING I FORGOT TO ADD!
Every now and again the line falls in the water, every time the Koi have been completely unaffected by this.
I'm a bit clueless with electrics but I can only assume its due to the current/voltage or whatever being low enough to not harm the fish.

My dad in the 80s found the best idea for herons is getting up early and meeting them with an air rifle ...

Great pond build, well done… I use simple fishing line strung high from the house across garden down to back fence which protects my pond… herons have a large wing span so won’t risk entering the garden. No electric fences or anything else required… done in minutes at virtually no cost and you rarely ever notice the line is there.

I used to have a net over the pond a few inches above one day my wife came home and found our sturgeon had hooked its gill plate over the net and was out of the water luckily my wife managed to get sturgeon back into the pond and held it in the return flow and it slowly started to recover that was a few years ago and he's still going strong since that day no net on pond .I put poles around the edge of the pond and used fishing line to surround the pond and also across the top of the pond from the fence so protected from sides and above. The heron still comes around for a look it will stand in a tree looking and has been seen on the fence. I also have a water sprayer which is motion activated unfortunately all of this didn't stop my neighbours cat killing my Japanese goldfish.

i keep a net over my whole pond, that's only after a heron poked holes in 2 15lb koi's and they died from that hole being poked in them, I live in the middle of the city too, Heron's will find your pond no matter where you live, the net take nothing away from the pond, the fish are free to do what fish do and I and others love watching them.

If the line falls in the pond will it harm the fish, or does it shut down

This is a great question that i forgot to bring up!
I am a bit clueless when it comes to voltage, wattage etc..
But when setting this and my dads pond up, I have arrived multiple times to the line being in the water and the fish were acting completely normal.
I am a bit clueless when it comes to electrics but im assuming its to do with the low voltage being safe for them. Im also assuming that this is part of the reason why its made specifically for ponds.

why not just net the pond, the fish are safe from cats too.And saves electric

      Hi,
I personally am not a fan of having a net cover the pond, to me it spoils the look of it a bit.
Also in my experience an electric fence is effective against cats and costs no more than a few pounds a year to run.
      Thanks for watching :)
