You've remodeled your house using a jig saw and a drill. No one has the right to question how you do things or why. You go, girl.
Exactly! 👏👍
Facts!
Agreed!!! Standing ovations from me.
Agreed
Well said 👍
‘I’m a free woman!’. Rosie, your response to comments about doing things in a particular order was just perfect. Why ever not do things in the way that makes sense to you alone, the simple joy of it. Ultimately, when you live intuitively, Life becomes a creative meditation. And the things we make somehow emit a different quality that is impossible to define but is there nevertheless.
This was such a lovely video, full of your strength and integrity. Really appreciated. Your little house is being transformed beautifully.
And an incredibly naive one
@@torbendinesen7121 Ah, on queue: a man to come along and diss a woman trying to live her own way! I have watched Rosie from Day One. I suspect anyone else would’ve knocked the cottage down and rebuilt using cement and synthetic builder’s materials. I don’t know for sure, of course, because I’m just an interested subscriber drawn in to this woman’s conscious way of living the way she wants while making a home for herself with her (developing) skill and budget level. Your comment is predictable.
Let her be, Torbend. She strikes me as an incredibly self-aware person, doing things her unique way and owning her errors as and when they appear. She is also rightly proud of her achievements. The simple joy when every time she opens that drawer brings that tiny rush of Joy is exactly the right, connected way to live - because it’s noticed. This is mindfulness in practice, connection with life rather than a slave to whatever passes as ‘the right way’ in consumerist western society. In my long life as an independent woman my experience is that there is ALWAYS a man, somewhere, shouting on a balcony (or in the comment section) telling us we are doing something wrong and only they know what’s right.
@@torbendinesen7121silly
@@consideredwhisperWe have to hope that, being a non-native speaker (presumably, from his name) he is kindly using naïve in the sense of innocent and not world-hardened/cynical 😉
@@tiffcat1100 I think, if you see his other comments, that he previously said ‘she can barely look after herself’ when someone suggested she get a dog. But thank you for being kind enough to make your very reasonable point: it was well-intended.
The thing which strikes me most is how well made a video this. The narrative is well constructed and paced, the filming uses interesting angles and light is very well considered. The music is well chosen, capturing the mood perfectly. It’s not just your woodworking skills which are careful and well executed. As someone who is impatient and slapdash, l am very jealous
She’s amazing, isn’t she? So talented in *everything* she does with purpose
This is the joy of owning your own home., do whatever you like my darling. We're all here cheering you on and I'm sure you are a source of motivation for many of us.
Håller helt med . Det kommer bli så cosy❤
I don't think you realize what an amazing, brave, strong and inspirational woman you are! I love watching your videos! They calm me when I'm feeling stressed and motivate me to keep going. In a way it feels like catching up with a good friend 😊
She look so frágil, however is a strong woman, with great attitude and vision. Start from zero is brave and inspirational. She is very free spirit and confident. She is a great woman
You are literally living my dream: to build or renovate a little tiny house in the middle of the woods. Seeing you warms my heart and gives me hope that I can someday make it true. Your videos are so calming, thank you for making them
We need t-shirts with "I am a free woman" printed on them. So simple, so perfectly said. I am a 64 year old Texas women who has never commented on any youtube channel. I stumbled onto yours late 2023 and I look forward to Sunday mornings, coffee in hand to follow your journey. I might just get that t-shirt made. 🤔
“I don’t care” is so freeing when used properly, isn’t it? 😊
“I’ve got the fire going. Happy days.” is somehow poetic.
I loved this video..... I've been watching your video for a long time now....when you only had 5k subs and never comment but this one had a little bit of everything.....a ditl, diy, cooking and so much more.....just wanted to mention that. You've grown so much over the years. Thank you for sharing your life with us
Some might say I'm doing the things in a wrong order. But I say: "I'm a free woman."
might be the most oddly therapeutic, freeing and encouraging thing I've heard in a long long while.
We have just completed a kitchen renovation. My husband built 65 drawers and every one is a joy to use.
That's a lot of drawers and a lot of joy :)
This is what I needed. I was thinking of making another drawer. Now I know what to do.
@@clovermark39haha
I much prefer drawers over cabinets. I bought a used oak kitchen on Facebook that someone was taking out of a house to remodel. It had 17 drawers and I was in heaven.
@@poodlegirl55 Agreed!!
Rosie you have definitely inspired me to try things I would not normally do. Just small things that I would normally think I can’t tackle on my own I now have a go at. Just recently I dismantled an old wooden structure in my yard. Thank you for showing me that so much more is possible than I ever thought.
That is amazing to hear and exactly why I make these videos! :)
Same here! I sometimes catch myself thinking “what would Rosie do?”
@@luemun Yes! I like that❣🇨🇦

Kitchen tip: Add a pinch of baking soda and 2 TBL vinegar to your cup of flour + 1/2 cup water for fluffier bread. BAKING SODA + VINEGAR are a great leavening substitute for baking powder in cakes, as well. 😉 The kitchen drawer is so satisfying to see + use! And, Rosie, the Living room Floor is exquisite! 🤩. Cheers! -V
Was just about to write to say put baking power or yeast in them to make them puff up.
Definitely baking soda.. Add herbs etc to mix to vary the taste? You're well placed for growing your own herbs. Chives would be quick n easy. Basil etc. ❤️
@@carolineslater1731. Chopped garlic n parsley or coriander leaves on top would make it into a garlic naan. 🫓. Stuff them with paneer or cheese 🧀 and it’s a cheese naan. Adding soaked and boiled lentils to the dough would up the protein content and make them tastier. A bit of turmeric will add to the health quotient. I’m an Indian 🇮🇳 so we have many options to oomph up a chapati/paratha
Top with ghee and it’s yummmmmy. Add curd to the dough to make it softer too
Paused the video right when she ate the nan to look through the comments hoping to find exactly this! Thank you for posting 🙏
It's Rosieday 😊. Good morning everyone from a grey and rainy Bonnie Scotland 😅.
Morning!
It's been pouring with rain in Devon too. ☔☺️
A rainy Sunday in Liverpool as well.
Good morning from Pennsylvania, USA 🖐️ It's raining here too 😊
Good morning 😊. It’s grey and rainy here in the Derbyshire Peak too 🌧️.
Good morning from the sunny Athens Greece. Here the spring is blossom! I have opened all the windows so the sun get in my house. I can hear the birds sing and ... it smells spring!
You are not only building your home by renovating your house, Rosie, you are also building your personality. You are so much stronger, determined and sure of yourself nowadays, it is a constant transformation, a daily journey, bit by bit, little by little, but 3 years later the change shows and glows ! BRAVO 👏❤
Like to repeat my compliment on the quality of your cabinetmaking. You work with an incredible accuracy irrespective of your tool availability, which makes everything take much longer and be harder than it might have otherwise..well done
If you seal the wood with boiled linseed oil you'll never have to shine your wood again. It lasts for centuries and guards against mold growth. Oh, and it's non toxic.👍😉💕
Who does the boiling and is it applied cold?
@@quicknumbercrunch8691 most likely clarifies the oil.
So solids are skimmed off the boiled oil? Does it come that way from a factory? I would not recommend boiling oil at home.@@kaatchef4598
@@quicknumbercrunch8691yes its already boiled and cold you just apply it to the floor with a cloth.
I have used hard vax oil in steed.
Of casue that depends on what look you want. Linseed oil give more of a stain not a smooth surface.
Hard vax oil give more of a easy to clean surface.. And.. well it looks more modern. that is of casue.. if you want it to look modern
Maybe a bit ironic that i have a 150 year old floor in my house that looks modern
With each episode, I watch the first viewing intently. Then for the days to come , I have it on and listen while knitting. Your innovative approach has given me the incentive to reevaluating the things I can handle and at age 80+ it has established a new “lifeline” (a term used in knitting for establishing a safe place to return to and start from again). Thank you
"I have this pan which is a little bit ruined which I tend to use for these chapatis"
"It got ruined because..... I started making chapatis in it"
That gave me a good chuckle!
I love her sense of humor!
OMG I just have to say thank you !!!! For a reason unknown to me yet... your comment about continuing to do things in the wrong order because it's more fun and your life... (37:29 +/- and then showing how you cut your sweet potato (opposite how someone once told me I HAD to cut my potatoes) You brought a huge smile to me and a sense of freedom and easy. Thank you so much❣ Isn't it just beautiful how we can influence each other lives in simplest of ways! Congratulations on your progress I am in awe of your hard work.
3 am and I am struggling to get any sleep. Nice to have a beautiful video to watch where I always learn something new I love your style and home it is stunning and you are an incredible young lady taking on an amazing task making your home!
Hopefully my floor laying will put you right back to sleep! ;)
I love to watch Rosie's videos at night when I can't sleep because they are so calming
How satisfying completing the floor and drawer! ❤ I have been wondering whether the tongue and groove on the floors and walls makes a difference to the internal temperature of the cottage?
Your happy!……you should be going out through the door and running, shouting I have put down a beautiful floor in my living room ,with your hands in the air. Hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray! I am so pleased for you.I can’t just see you relaxing by that cosy fire reading a book. Well done you.👏👏👏👏🥰
I bet she really did that, off camera when no one was watching....haha
I had to chuckle when you were so excited about getting a real bike and right away said “Although I have to say I don’t actually like cycling either”.
You keep on being you Woman! You are amazing! So you may not go with the norm in how you approach building/decorating! But it suits you to do it a certain way. We all have different brains so who’s to say which way is right and which way is wrong!
Obviously we all think very highly of you! Don’t change a thing about you! You wouldn’t anyway…. Because you are smart!
Your parents must be very proud of you… they are part of the reason you are who you are! Thank them for us please! Lol
Perfect timing to pass some of another impossibly rainy day down here in the Portuguese mountains. I’m also renovating my house and am only 15 years into it now 😂. I long ago realised that taking my time and doing things my own way was the way to go, but this winter has been hard as I’ve literally not been able to do anything for the weather and lack of enough power to run power tools (am completely off grid), so watching CZcams videos of other people making quiet progress has been one way to stay sane. Still I wouldn’t swap this life for anything. You go girl!!
If you ever fancy a hiking holiday down here we have some good mountain trails. And you’d be very welcome to stop by and chat DIY skills!
Rosie, you are showing us time and time again your skills, your patience, your learning curve and your sense of beauty.
You inspired me (I am a complete handycraft idiot), to stabilize a shelf unit on my balcony. I bought a bit of wood and now its sturdier than before and will not fall apart.
It's far from perfect and probably even laughable, but I did it myself and I am proud of it! 😊
We use the ash from the wood stove, a little on a damp paper towel, to clean the window of the wood stove. It works amazingly and is so quick to do. Love your videos, you are so inspiring!
Your new drawer is cute, and I love how the cutlery divider ended up fitting perfectly.
What you said about drawers is so true. They ARE amazing things. We take them for granted, and even as we're opening and closing them, it's pretty much an unconscious thing. Thank you for helping me see and appreciate the many drawers in my life. 😊
I like the sunday morning release schedule. A quiet relaxing video with a hot cup of tea before the inevitable list of chores has to be tackled.
That room looks so much different now it's empty and has its proper floor. I would move that white chair in front of the fire place, put a giant stack of books next to it and not leave it ever again.
Well, the way you do things have worked well thus far - so why stop now. I say follow your instincts.
Love your tenacity, Rosie! I am always fascinated with your building. And remember, there are no rules. Your life in the forest is yours completely. You set the pace, the path. That's the sheer beauty of it and one we all envy. And I totally agree. It's the simple things that bring true joy...even a drawer.😊
Ariel Bissett mentioned your channel in her last episode just thought I’d mention it just in case you didn’t know 😊
I saw it!! :) I'm waiting for her to pick me up in her cute little Japanese truck lol
The drawer is great…cabinetry is not for sissies, that is for sure. There is such a sense of accomplishment building or doing things yourself. My husband and I have been renovating our cottage for 10 years and he laid wood floors in the entire house, and I sanded and finished them. Every time we see them, we feel good that we did them. Next week is the last thing to do…renovating the bathrooms, but this time, we’ll let someone else do that as we are no plumbers and also just getting older. Good luck on the rest of your house renovation; it is looking great and is a unique and beautiful reflection of you.
Good luck with your bathrooms. I hope that they turn out they way you want them too. I hope that you can rest & enjoy what you’ve accomplished with your house👍🏻🥳🇨🇦
You’re now the drawer expert!
Better than I could make!
And that drawer looks amazing!
Great wood working skills, and finished so nicely!
Nobody would ever know the problems you had installing it!
Every morning as soon as the sun starts to light up the sky (5:45am right now) I walk 5 miles a day up and around a steep hill. It has a huge positive impact on my mental health. ❤ Well done on your running.
Greetings from Seattle! I found your vlog a few months ago while randomly scrolling. I'll admit the first time I opened your vlog was because the expression on your face showing on the title page seemed to be daring me to continue scrolling by. And now I'm watching each of your chapters with admiration and great enjoyment. Wow. Planet Earth desperately needs more thoughtful and capable (and wry) people like you, but I find myself thinking that if and when human beings are launched into space to colonize Mars that you and others of your ability should be on board. Meanwhile, I hope you continue sharing your approach to living life through your vlog. Thank you! Kind Regards.
Sunday is my favorite day as Rosie has a new video and Martijn Doolaard, both relaxing videos, building, renovating but also very beautiful nature, thanks for this.
Rosie never stop being a free woman 😂 keep being your wonderful authentic self.your home is really coming together ❤
Bravo! The floor is fantastic! It adds such a great ambiance to the room. The room is beautiful! It's very exciting to follow along.
Restoration and running 😊❤ Rosie, you lead...others will follow.
As a disabled 65yr, old ebike rider doing 200 km per week, it's quite a workout, pedal assist is no free ride.😊
I love every episode. I especially love how you just cope and rework things when things don't work out as planned. The best life is when we realize we can create options, rather than only wishing that everything will always be perfect. Thanks for sharing the Swedish Forest with us.
It was woman's day this week and if anyone represents that it's you. You are a free woman and an inspiring role model. Your videos are such a joy to watch and see the progress in all your growing skills.
I bought an air fryer this winter and I absolutely love it! Game changer!
I’ve found that in doing projects, sometimes the gods smile on you. Sometimes they just have a bloomin’ good laugh at your expense.
Your channel is very calming, even when you show moments of fluster or frustration. Thank you.
The floor and drawer turned out beautifully! 🎉 I LOVED how you traced, shaped, and trimmed the flooring pieces around the door frame! It was so satisfying to watch it snap into place perfectly! 💫
Rosie, there is so much I admire about you: your formidable skills, your creative vision, your joie de vivre, the way you order your days, the way you prepare mindful meals, and how you take care of body and soul. But especially your ability to be content with yourself, something that escapes me.
Brilliant storytelling and cinematography capturing a creative imagination.
Thank you.
one smart and brave cookie😊
and now we know where QUEEN ELIZABETH 1st re incarnated??... just saying❤
Love this video. Every second Monday morning nothing gets done in our house until we have our Rosie fix. ❤ 🇦🇺
I have been following your renovation for quite a while now and I am always impressed with your skills. With your delicate physical features, it is sometime difficult to see how you can accomplish so much. It has been a joy to watch as you have turned that Swedish house into your lovely home. Thank you.
So I just watched your new video and normally I try to leave something humorous or silly. But today I just wanted to let you know that your house is looking absolutely spectacular. I don't normally leave compliments because I don't want to sound like everyone else or make it sound like I'm just trying to tell you what you want to hear. And I know no one else is doing that. I just like to be unique. It's a Dave thing. So when I do hand out praise, I want you to know I mean it. I also like your train of thought on not being defined by fear or worries and will add to it by saying it's also important to not be defined by your past. I believe all emotions are natural and it's okay to feel them whether it's sadness, fear, or anger. It's not the emotion that defines you, but the actions that they bring forth that does. Your way of thinking is one of the reasons I started watching your videos in the first place. Just thought I would let you know that.
Couldn't agree more Dave!
I was a bit worried for you seeing you glue the floorboards together, but then relived to see that you didn't in a later shot. Also I see you did leave a small gap around where the old skirting is, which is important. I hope the floor will have enough room to expand, shrink and move with the seasons so you don't run into trouble. You did a lovely job all over Rosie, and it's good to see you're progress! ❤
Cross country skiing in winter is very good exercise, warms your body up and takes you places.
I love your weekly blogs. I've watched all of them. They cheer up my Sundays. I'm 70 & wish I could do what you have done. Thank you for sharing your life.
Happy womens day to a selfsufficient women 😊😊😊😊 love you channel so much! And celebrating your joy with you 🎉🎉🎉🎉

"I am free woman." - I love it! 💕 Thank you Rosie for sharing your life with us.
Rosie…..so after following your home makeover, I actually made a step up deck to cover some old rotten bricks and cement that I could not get up, in my back yard. It’s a really simple 4 ft by 3 ft rectangle . I used some left over 2x8 wood from my privacy fence for the bottom. Then I bought 8 ft decking boards and cut them in half for the top. Used the left over wood screws and then stained them with stain my dad gave me. I loved it so much that I made a second one I have potted plants sitting on top of them. I think I will sit on one of them and try to meditate!
The floor looks beautiful! The drawer turned out great!
Had a good laugh when you said you feel like making drawers for the rest of your life! Isn't it satisfying when you've conquered something new & difficult! You do things I would never dream of doing, though when I was young I did wish my father were a handy man who could have taught me such things. Now I'm satisfied if I can manage to find a person to hire to do carpentry for me! I do get vicarious satisfaction watching you though, I must say!
Runing is the perfekt start of the day, because then you know the day only can become better.
Drawers are the best in the kitchen!!
Right now you are very busy building, but one time you finish your projects, you will have a lot of time to do all that other things you wish to do. Just enjoy one and every thing you are doing and sharing with us. We really thank you for all your time and effort, and all the beautiful attitude when you plan and construct that beautiful house little by little.
Your floor is beautiful‼️‼️Before carpeting, floors were works of art for the rich‼️ And you have brought back the concept of looking at a beautiful floor‼️. I love it❤️
When I watched your video today, at one point I just felt a strong sense of friendship. A few moments after you told us, you giving yourself more time. I felt that, I guess it is a good advice for me too, but in that moment I was just glad you were treating yourself with compassion! There is an old saying in germany: Gut Ding muss Weile haben. It just means good things take time. Enjoy it :)
I feel so relaxed after watching you. I look forward to every other Sunday when your video notification pops up. Well done Rosie xx
Rosie! In the very nicest of ways...I'm envious! Of your charming cabin, of your amazing skill, and of your KNEES! The way you can crouch down and balance, then bounce back up would be a miracle on mine! ha. Love your channel. Thanks, from Canada, for the rays of sunshine!
The wonderful way you look squatting while showing us your beautiful floor.
Your hard work and perseverance has paid off and will continue to do so. Its awesome you do things your way. Well done
Hey Rosie Come to France and build me a cabin kitchen please!!! You can make drawers all summer 🎉 I really love the flooring layout it makes simple materials look very beautiful. ❤
Yeah! Make drawers for all your bottom shelving to keep it from dust and easy access! I'v always been intimidated by making them. I might give it a go!
I love watching your videos. It’s even more entertaining watching the order you do tasks in, who cares how they get done, it’s YOUR home. 🏡 Thank you sharing.

What you are doing is truly remarkable. Such considered and thoughtful building and making that is making your quality of life better and more beautiful with each project: big or small. That you have fun along the way and follow your own tune makes it so enjoyable and rewarding to watch . Thank you so much for sharing this adventure in a Swedish forest with us.

Re: kitchen drawer - sometimes we just realise things "after the fact!" 🤷☺️☺️
I loved this video. The floor is beautiful. I love the way it will be a central part f the decoration of the whole spece. You are a really interesting designer, and the way you are tackling your home is insprational. You are in a beautiful part of the world, and your home is slowly beginning to become a part of it again.
That floor is amazing. So clever. The house becomes more beautiful every time.❤
Rosie, I just wanted to tell u what a beautiful, amazing independent woman u are, willing to learn & acheive perfection in the renovation of your Sweetish Cottage. You certainly r an inspiration to me & I adore your willingness to work hard , be consistent & budget to achieve your dreams / goals. Wishing u the very best as your journey continues!. 😊🎉❤
I love that you keep so calm when making a mistake, I would be throwing the draw across the room however the end result it wonderful ... Rosie you are right the room looks great.
You make chapatis puff up by pressing on them with a tea towel after flipping to trap steam. The lazy way is a few seconds in the microwave after cooking.
Whenever I’m working diy or in garden and feel overwhelmed I always tell myself get your Rosie going! You’re such an inspiration!
I find that your numbering of vids a true help.❤
You are renovating a house all by yourself, and you have to walk or take the bike to go grocery shopping. Not to mention that you have to carry everything home! Compared to my own sedentary life, that's plenty of exercise! But the running seems like a beautiful habit. Wood chopping and axe throwing are two cheap alternatives. 😁
You can be so proud of yourself for everything that you have accomplished. You go girl.
Rosie I have just finished number 76 after starting with 1 last week and you have another subscriber! I commented a few times before but have definitely decided I like your channel. You are an inspiration to women, I don't agree with everything you say but you are showing women a strong and dedicated woman. Thanks for sharing with us and looking forward to Sunday for the next video.
Ah this is so good!! It’s very refreshing to see this kind of experimentation and honesty. I live in Australia where building anything requires years of permits and tiny tiny decisions being deliberated before you’re allowed to do anything 😂 I day dream about a cabin in the forests of Europe quite literally every day. Thank you for sharing Rosie!!
OMG Rosie! The floor looks amazing! I love the layout! Your workmanship looks so professional and the new flooring truly uplifts that room. I dont comment often, but I watch each of your video's and they bring me so much joy! As for the 'chapati' that was more of a 'paratha'. Chapatis are rolled quite thinly and cooked on a pan on both sides and puff up into a ball shape. I'm Indian BTW:) Yes, to doing the 'fun thing...'!!
Sounds like parathas are badly made chapatis! 😉🤭😂
What delightful smorgasbord that was! It was great to see so many aspects of your days in one vid. And , as usual, lovely voice-over and drone footage .. thanks Rosie..
There are only so many "I bought a cabin in the wood" videos, that a person can watch.....(in a life time)
I have seen enough tongue and groove.
No need to shed a tear (pun intended) ....ham hof.
This is a really empowering episode - I've been living in a 140-year old house with bad floors for several years and I'm fired up enough to be following your lead now and starting the job of re-flooring the upstairs this weekend! Thanks Rosie!
You are a free Woman and you do your renovation the way you can best. There is always an other solution to do it but you have to feel good with the result of your work and no one other, so no one has the right to criticise your work. as i said in an other episode, with every project you finished, your Skills grow and it is fun to watch the progress of your renovation.
Stay well and keep going. Thanks for sharing.
